The vibes of the studio are so serene and you can tell it's a community. Love it and can't wait to try more classes here

Taking a Shivakali morning class with Chrissy last week was the highlight of our weekend trip to…read moreOjai. The studio itself is the most beautiful and airy space. Simply being in it was incredibly regenerative on this particular sunny spring morning. I haven't felt so at peace for months. Big glass doors were opened into an enclosed zen garden behind the building. Gentle breezes came in and the sunbeams felt incredible. This was the first yoga class I'd taken in about 15 years, so I was rusty to say the least. But Chrissy was great at making sure that people of varying experience levels in the room got a personalized class. We also had local musician Dave Cipriani playing live during the class, which was next level. I believe he was playing a hansa vina (Indian slide guitar) in addition to a classical guitar. We enjoyed the music so much that we came back to the studio that evening for his Talking Strings event with several other musicians. The group played traditional Griot compositions and performed instrumental improvisations on cello, West African harp, the Hansa Vina and other instruments. Both the class and musical event are experiences I'll never forget. The price of the class was reasonable, at least by L.A. standards. This one was $24. It was worth every penny. I can't wait to vacation in Ojai again and spend the majority of my time at Light and Space. There's a ton of great programming happening all the time.

Simply, the best…read more... I met Rosemary a few years ago, when we had just moved from the Bay Area to the Ojai area. After taking the first class with her, I told her 'she was the best teacher I ever had'... I have now been practicing with her for the past few years, and my practice has not only strengthened physically, but I am more connected to my practice holistically and as another reviewer stated, 'soulfully'. She truly brings a unique gift to her students, regardless of their experience - and treats everyone with honor and grace for the journey they are on... Her retreats are also fabulous - I recently went to Tassajara (my first yoga retreat) - she has such a great sense of humor and puts the participants at ease to allow them to really enjoy the whole experience!

I've been blessed to study yoga with different teachers since the 1980's…read more I search for a combination of what I call "strength and soul building" and Rosemary's classes have both. Guiding the student to work hard, smart AND gentle all at the same type is an art she has mastered. Like other reviewers I have done several retreats with Rosemary, each one a delight for the body and the senses. I agree with and take the liberty to repeat the words from Shaun's review: "Rosemary's yoga is impeccable. Having the opportunity to receive detailed instruction from her gentle, soothing voice and light presence is a gift I can barely put into words. There is no pressure in her class, only guidance. It's a strength building class when you need it and meditative at the beginning and end to seal you in bliss." If you get a chance, RUN don't walk, to Rosemary for a class, retreat, or private session.

Visitation Rights: 1…read more Meditation Mount History: Florence Garrigue, approaching her 80th birthday, was guided to the Ojai Valley and arrived in 1968 to establish a center for Meditation Groups, Inc., with the physical location now known as "Meditation Mount". After finding the initial benefactor and arranging financing for the project with generous gifts from the people who believed in the work of the organization, Florence selected the site at the East end of the valley. She worked closely with Ojai architect Zelma Wilson in planning the beautiful Tibetan - style buildings, and Grant Castelberg of Santa Barbara who served as the landscape architect for the center. The Meditation Mount facilities were completed in April of 1971. Since that time, Meditation Mount has functioned as an educational center offering spiritual programs that enhance the awakening of the human soul in all aspects of social endeavor. Group Creative Meditation and Monthly Full Moon Meditations continue to be an important part of the rhythm in the Mount's life, focusing on the embodiment of the universal spiritual principles and pathways as a cornerstone to build a more enlightened and compassionate humanity. Mission Statement: The mission of Meditation Mount, a nonprofit organization, is to promote the building of an enlightened and compassionate world through the power of Creative Meditation, inspirational educational programs, and community-based events focused on the practical application of the following universal spiritual principles: Right Human Relations, Goodwill, Group Endeavor, Unanimity, Spiritual Approach, and Essential Divinity. Reserve a time slot on their website: https://www.meditationmount.org/ Visitation/Time slot is about 2 hours. Morning or/and Sunset. Price Of Admission: $12 for the 2-hour visitation experience. For special events, it'll cost more. You'll just have to check out their calendar on their website. Parasols To Use: If you need some shade, Meditation mount provides parasols to help with that. Entertainment: 1) Please enjoy playing with the gong and the wind chimes. Make sure you make a lot of noise! I'm kidding... It's a place to meditation... Gosh... me.... Gosh! I kinda got reprimanded by a docent for making a ruckus... the other lady that work there... told me I can make as much noise as I want. So much confusion! lol 2) Slapping your face, arm, and ear... the bugs and flies don't care who you are. I ended my visit with 5 or 6 bug bites. Better to wear long pants and long sleeve shirts.Insect repellent and earplugs would be great also. 3) Enjoy the hiking trail along the perimeter that'll take about 15 minutes to go through it. 4) Enjoy the views. Would recommend scheduling your visit during the sunset. Meditation Mount For Thought: Wouldn't mind coming back. Would like to prepared on my next visit by wear long sleeves, insect repellent, and earplugs.
