Acted like we were bothering them instead of being attentive to what we needed assistance with. They should've upgraded their website or added a self service kiosk aiding those needing help to find a service &/or grave. Forrest lawn gets a hand of applause for have this option available on-line including a map of their grounds. If it's such a bother please add this feature for people to use. I bet if we would've inquired about purchasing property their tune would've probably changed. So sad esp since this is a Catholic Cemetery. Do better Resurrection Cemetery & actually help those who walk into the office seeking assistance!!

Most of my deceased friends and relatives are buried either at Calvary Cemetery in East L.A. or Rose Hills Cemetery north of Whittier. Like Calvary, Resurrection is a Catholic cemetery, but because Calvary is so much older and closer to where my older family members lived, the vast majority of my deceased Catholic relatives are buried at Calvary. I really only know about Resurrection because my father's aunt (2011) and her husband (2024) were buried here. The irony of it is that for most of my life, Auntie Manya and Uncle Paul lived in Whittier, right off of the road that leads to Rose Hills Cemetery's main entrance. They were the family members who lived closest to Rose Hills, yet they chose to be buried far from both their home at the time (they would eventually move to L.A.'s South Bay) and most of my aunt's family. All of this is to say that I haven't spent much time here. I've been to at least two graveside services here and one or two other occasions--probably services to mark either 40 days or one year since the person's passing. I'm always surprised by the size of the place. The first time I came, I was very ill from food poisoning I had gotten in the Bay Area not long before my flight, so I wasn't paying that much attention. The grave site didn't seem too far from the entrance we used, so I thought it was a very small cemetery. It's not. The grounds are nice and well maintained. When my Uncle Paul's ashes were buried next to Auntie Manya's coffin a little more than a year ago, Resurrection had set up the tent for the service a good 30 yards from the grave sites themselves. I'm assuming they chose the tent location because of uneven ground or a lack of a large enough empty area closer to the burial plots, but it was awkward to have most of the service beneath the tent and then straining to hear as the priest said more prayers as he walked with the urn from the tent to where it would be buried. In contrast, at Auntie Manya's elder sister Margie's burial last year (she lived to be 102!) at Calvary, the tent was set up right near the burial plot. Despite all the headstones and graves around, Calvary was able to site the tent right where it belonged; why couldn't Resurrection do the same thing? Sadly enough, I don't visit Auntie Manya's or Uncle Paul's graves as often as I do other friends' and family members', almost solely because there are more graves of loved ones at other cemeteries. Other than the noise of lawnmowers, it is a peaceful place, and despite having pretty easy freeway access, you're relatively unaware of being smack dab in the middle of the sprawling suburbs of L.A. County's San Gabriel Valley.

Everything was laid out beautifully, and the staff specifically coordinated and directed everyone very expertly and intentionally to help us feel like we were part of the process and also honoring the deceased according to tradition. No AV hiccups and the ceremony was decorated very tastefully. When it came to transitioning to the burial site the staff was very discrete and efficient. They really are able to balance the efficiency aspect as well as the professional and attention to detail and the venue is very nice. Highly recommend.

We sat in a meeting with John Wong, arrangement counselor, and he reviewed with us and our agent what was had purchased at that time. They answered all our questions. Lucky for us that the changes we made, we did not have to pay extra for. We appreciated that both the agent and John spoke in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese so my family and I were able to understand what was asked of them and what needed to be prepared. Saturdays are extra $$ if funeral would be held that day but weekdays are no additional charge. They let us know where we could ask the guests to deliver the flowers and where to meet. They provided us with a map on where to meet for the viewing and where we go to have him buried. We had to come back several times because there were several clothing articles we needed to drop off to be put in the casket. During the day of the funeral, we were surprised to see our agent there and our agent and the helpful staff guided us through the funeral process for our grandfather. They provided the fruits and the bowls we needed for prayers, and the standing flower sprays that were ordered with the guests and family were arranged in the room for us. The staff were patient with us while we were all grieving. They gave us several small burning bins so we can burn money for our grandfather. I see other funerals there and the signs are posted on which room is for which loved one. I highly recommend Rose Hills if you want to bury your loved one here. The only thing I don't like is that even though you have a map, it's easy to get lost up on those hills: they need better and more signs to direct us to the different areas and where the exits are.

Chavez Funeral &Cremation delivered reliability, assertiveness & expedited our request. A reputable foundation nonetheless. Under the circumstances where the last thing you need is more task to tackle, Chavez Funeral& cremations took a huge weight of our hands. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Especially to Sonia. I'd give him 100stars, cannot say enough wonderful things about this man- He's very professional, kind, and kept me up to date as much as possible and solved problems along the way. Manny went above and beyond to help make the process easier for everyone I was very grateful for his help, I think he works harder at his job than anyone else. Aside from that I was not impressed with a lot of things. The day of the Memorial was chaotic, the guests had no direction and were told to wait so they all congregated up at the front building. Then the viewing that was supposed to be just a couple people turned into everyone coming in to view my father. This could have been catastrophic if I wasn't so laid back but he looked sharp so I figure it was meant to be that way, many were glad they got to see him. It worked out well it was just a bit overwhelming as that was way different than what was originally planned. Whoever was directing outside would not allow the person I hired to set up the photos & flowers go inside the cemetery beforehand so when I discovered that nothing had been done at the site yet I had to run from the viewing to go throw everything together all by myself at the location in the literal minutes before the ceremony. Due to that set back I didn't get anything up properly. Lastly a few days before the funeral the groundskeepers assured me that they would have my grandfathers grave cleaned up (my dad was buried in the same plot at later date) but it was not done. It's also been noticed they remove flowers very quickly after placed which is a bit off putting. They were very much on top of making sure payment was complete but after that it took a substantial amount of time and several check ins before burial happened for my dad. To be honest I didn't mind that wait but from day one I was very clear I wanted to be there for his burial. The day finally came and I found out the afternoon before that they would be burying him the next day, a bit frustrating the lack of notice but it was beyond time for it to happen so I just worked it out. I kept in communication up until just a couple hours before to make sure it was clear I would be there for the burial and agreed to come at a set time. I showed up an hour before that set time and my father was already buried!! This was extremely upsetting and the men finishing up did not seem to care in the slightest about my distress. It seems like they were just glad to have "finished up early". This has been extremely distressing for me and my family/friends are upset hearing it as well. I'm still struggling with what happened. I spoke with Manny afterwards and he was very apologetic as this was not how it was supposed to go, he was not notified they were going to finish early so there was really nothing that could have gone differently on his end. There is some major communication issues going on. I'm definitely rethinking the plans I was considering for myself and the rest of my family in a plot here as it seems like the management is lacking, it doesn't really seem like anyone else cares there. It's kept together just well enough to get paid.

There is one spot with free 20 minutes parking right in front of the shop. As for parking on the rest of the street, I am not sure. Please read the street signs carefully. The lady who helped us was very friendly and welcoming. There were 3 set prices... $130, $160, $200. The difference between all 3 prices are the amount of flowers that will be on the spray. We chose the one @ $160 which is a great price. It will come with pink, lavender, and white flowers along with the string banner. You may choose the colors you want and they'll choose the flowers that correspond to the chosen colors. You may also have something written on the string banner as long as it fits. We paid cash for it. One of my other aunt also ordered from here same day. The lady waived the delivery fee since both of us ordered from here as a courtesy to us. Thank you so much miss! We appreciate it. I will keep them in mind for any future flower arrangement purchases.
