You've got to come down and see all the changes. SMP has become the Model Citizen of Water Conservation at Ca. Cemeteries. From Northern Cali to Japan, her attempts to conserve water while remaining beautiful and true to her community and roots has spread across the papers and radio. At SMP, there are stories to remember. They are at the graves of those who made history here in the SGV and Los Angeles. Tales of hardship, love and progress. Please help us today so the stories of our Pioneers can reach future generations. History is important. Check out Savannah memorial park pioneer cemetery on FB for information on how you can help volunteer. It's great for teachers too. Class trips and volunteering make for great examples of community help.

There is a lot of local history to read about at this very old cemetery.

Acted like we were bothering them instead of being attentive to what we needed assistance with. They should've upgraded their website or added a self service kiosk aiding those needing help to find a service &/or grave. Forrest lawn gets a hand of applause for have this option available on-line including a map of their grounds. If it's such a bother please add this feature for people to use. I bet if we would've inquired about purchasing property their tune would've probably changed. So sad esp since this is a Catholic Cemetery. Do better Resurrection Cemetery & actually help those who walk into the office seeking assistance!!

This is a review of the cemetery grounds and graveside services only; I have never attended any…read moreservices in their chapel(s?). Most of my deceased friends and relatives are buried either at Calvary Cemetery in East L.A. or Rose Hills Cemetery north of Whittier. Like Calvary, Resurrection is a Catholic cemetery, but because Calvary is so much older and closer to where my older family members lived, the vast majority of my deceased Catholic relatives are buried at Calvary. I really only know about Resurrection because my father's aunt (2011) and her husband (2024) were buried here. The irony of it is that for most of my life, Auntie Manya and Uncle Paul lived in Whittier, right off of the road that leads to Rose Hills Cemetery's main entrance. They were the family members who lived closest to Rose Hills, yet they chose to be buried far from both their home at the time (they would eventually move to L.A.'s South Bay) and most of my aunt's family. All of this is to say that I haven't spent much time here. I've been to at least two graveside services here and one or two other occasions--probably services to mark either 40 days or one year since the person's passing. I'm always surprised by the size of the place. The first time I came, I was very ill from food poisoning I had gotten in the Bay Area not long before my flight, so I wasn't paying that much attention. The grave site didn't seem too far from the entrance we used, so I thought it was a very small cemetery. It's not. The grounds are nice and well maintained. When my Uncle Paul's ashes were buried next to Auntie Manya's coffin a little more than a year ago, Resurrection had set up the tent for the service a good 30 yards from the grave sites themselves. I'm assuming they chose the tent location because of uneven ground or a lack of a large enough empty area closer to the burial plots, but it was awkward to have most of the service beneath the tent and then straining to hear as the priest said more prayers as he walked with the urn from the tent to where it would be buried. In contrast, at Auntie Manya's elder sister Margie's burial last year (she lived to be 102!) at Calvary, the tent was set up right near the burial plot. Despite all the headstones and graves around, Calvary was able to site the tent right where it belonged; why couldn't Resurrection do the same thing? Sadly enough, I don't visit Auntie Manya's or Uncle Paul's graves as often as I do other friends' and family members', almost solely because there are more graves of loved ones at other cemeteries. Other than the noise of lawnmowers, it is a peaceful place, and despite having pretty easy freeway access, you're relatively unaware of being smack dab in the middle of the sprawling suburbs of L.A. County's San Gabriel Valley.

The cremation was done at the main location in Whittier and the memorial service was held at the Alhambra branch. All of the staff were very patient, understanding and helpful. They were able to help with all of the requests that we had and on top of that were very quick to get back to us with responses. The memorial service went smoothly and without a hitch, thanks to the funeral director and staff at Rose Hills that day. If you decide to hold a service here make sure to let all the invitees know that this is the Alhambra location; most people only know about the main Rose Hills cemetery in Whittier. To the staff: Karpo, Vincent, Donnie and Mai - thank you for all the help with my mother's service.

I'm still VERY LIVID how our service was handled. Our Arranger HENRY CHAN, lacked the basic skills of guiding us on our sons service. We were in the dark majority of this process. Please keep in mind, this is our first time coping with funeral planning so OBVIOUSLY we don't know what to expect nor do we know how planning a service consists of. Tell me why our arranger never ASKED us what type of service we envision? Why did WE have to ask him what type of service they recommended doing since we are non-religious? All he offered to us was a catalog of Urns and Casket STILL without explaining anything to us KNOWING our son is a BABY whom passed. We were given ZERO guidance on this whole experience. I understand we're in a pandemic but that does not excuse ANYONE in this business to handle the things we experienced!! Less than 24 hours before our sons service, we weren't told if we should bring in photos or flowers or ANYTHING of that nature. In tears and frustration, the entire family had to haul ass last minute to gather everything in time. On top of this, on the day of my sons cremation I requested to see him one last time and was DENIED that when our arranger promised us we were able to see him!! WHY DID WE PAY FOR THIS SERVICE IF IT CANT BE FULFILLED? It's been a few weeks since this horrible experience and NO management has reached out to us on this matter. I will NEVER recommend rose hills on their lack of empathy or to any grieving family who is seeking a funeral home to work with.

Universal Chung Wah Funeral Home has been part of this community for many many years. We were looking for a small viewing followed by cremation. The staff member named May was patient and helpful, answering all of our questions and provided useful suggestions. She did not try to upsell services. The day of the service went smoothly as planned. We arrived some time earlier and things were already set up. When the ashes were ready, another staff member even dropped off the ashes as a courtesy on her way to another appointment, so that my 80 year old mom didn't have to Uber there to pick up the ashes. Small gestures like this is greatly appreciated during such a difficult time.

Problem one: My family bought a memorial property at Glendale cemetery in December 2015 for my grandfather who suddenly passed away. Our family specifically ordered the traditional upright headstone. Chris, an agent worked at the location, promised our family that the headstone would be delivered in about four months. Four months later, he told us the delivery must be postponed due to some government regulation issues. We trusted him and waited nearly a year and finally became suspicious about the situation. We contacted this company, shockingly, an agent informed us that Glendale cemetery NEVER allowed having upright headstones; Furthermore, Chris was no longer working for their company. Upon several negotiations, my family had to go for the flat bronze grave marker, because we did not wish to "disturb" my grandfather. Problem two: Chris, the agent, SPECIFICALLY told us the memorial property was at a corner (because only corner locations can have upright headstone). After the flat grave marker for my grandfather was finally delivered in March 2017, guess what, we found the grave marker was in the middle section! Ironically, as we contact this Arcadia company, the corner property just being sold to another family, and the person was buried recently!
