The shallow rock hole they initially planted my tree into
    Nikki T.

I am not happy with this company. I feel like I was baited and switched. They came to my house and quoted $450 to plant 2 pecan trees I purchased and had on site and later tried to upcharge it to well over $1000 after he neglected to bring the jackhammer I told him he would need and after he found out I was doctor. Let me clarify this- I told him BEFORE the quote that there was bedrock in my back yard that needed a jackhammer and he said he would bring the right equipment. The guy came back the next day. I had to go to work so I told him to send me pictures. He told me he planted the first tree "shallow" and that was when I found out HE DIDN'T BRING A JACKHAMMER, and just planted my 12 foot tall tree into the rock. I asked him why he would plant it so shallow when he told me they dig a hole twice the size of the root ball. He said it would be 'a little bit more cost' since they also ran into rock in the 2nd hole as well. I was expecting they would try to charge $225 for having to 'replant' the first tree (which would not have been the case if they had the equipment they claimed to have). I had to be at work the next day as well and had them send me pictures since the had the jackhammer now, hours go by and they send me a picture where they dug 3 feet into the rock, instead of trying a different area close by which would have made sense. I attached the picture he sent me- to dig that long in the same spot is INSANE. I told him to leave the jackhammer and I'll dig the hole myself when I get home from work. I dug a narrow deep 'tester' hole 2 & 1/2 feet away and there was great dirt there. I dug the same size hole there myself- plenty of dirt and sparse rocks. It took me 2 hours to dig the hole and jackhammer the bedrock sections out. I found out- after they left- that they broke the strawberry tower in my garden and didn't tell me, they tucked the broken pieces to the side of my raised garden bed. I told them to take the stakes from the older previously planted trees in my yard near the fence and instead they ripped out the ones supporting my garden's drip irrigation system and strawberries. They also cleaned the dirt from their hands or equipment in a tall bucket that I was collecting rain water in for my rain barrel in my garden. I shouldn't have to explain to not do that and they literally had my garden hose right there. Oh! And they compacted a 3 foot radius of dirt on my grass instead of putting the dirt into a wheel barrel or even in the huge nursery plastic pots I had out in the open. I had to go out and scrape the clumps of dirt and rock off of my nice well cared for grass. At one point he said he never had anyone so picky about their trees- I said I'm going by WHAT YOU TOLD ME YOU DO. You said you dig the hole twice the size of the root ball (which they didn't at first) and put in 3 stakes (which they only did 2 at first)! You asked me to provide the soil- why would you expect me to want rocky dirt put back in the hole when I bought enough dirt for both of the trees? Why would you try to put only 2 stakes on a 12 foot tall tree in TEXAS knowing the storms we get here? Were they just cutting corners? This is basic stuff. When he said he would have to charge me "over $1000", I did a double take. This is so unethical. He said he knew he "underquoted" me to begin with. I guess I fell for the old bait and switch. I'm not sure if this common in the tree industry, but don't have them plant trees for you. Maybe they are good at trimming. Next time, I'm just going to do it all myself like I did with my other small trees and rose bushes. What a waste to pay them $900 for me to plant my own tree. This may have been what a professional tree planting company would have charged me- which is fine, I think it is so shady to secure the job with a low quote, then not bring equipment so you can more than double charge for labor to dig for hours 3 feet down into solid rock. Do yourself a favor and just rent a jackhammer and plant your own tree. It's actually not that hard if you use common sense. They appear to do a good job with tree trimming, but after what they did here, I'll be going elsewhere for that. This was so bad it's almost funny. I'm curious if the guys that came to my house are the owners. This was so unreal, and this company has 160 reviews with 5 stars. How? Their google reviews are unfortunately from a long time ago and look fake in hindsight.

Had to find a new Tree Trimming company since my old time one went out of business. Called HCTT and Roland came out and gave me a bid. He is a kind and professional young man and all by himself did a great job on our 33 year old Arizona Ash trees. I highly recommend him. Jack.

    a brick chimney

Friendly crew who executed well but the most expensive and slowest tree trimming job in my experience. For a larger job, I would start by getting more quotes but would hire them again. I had a delicate operation, where I needed to clear a tree away from a chimney for repairs. Initially priced $750 but they ended up doing it for $600 if I wanted to get started right away. I went with them because the reviews made them sound competent and they were immediately available. Convinced myself to pay more because of the complexity of the job. Small crew. Took a few hours for the one tree. They used ropes well to catch large branches and my house was left unscathed, which was my main concern. The cuts were clean and the oak tree looks great. The team cleaned up well.

Roland and his crew do great work at a very reasonable price. Would definitely recommend using them to get your trees trimmed. They trimmed about 16 trees in our yard and it looks so much better now! As a bonus, Roland himself climbed up a tree to rescue a baby squirrel!

It would be a mistake NOT to hire this company. I reached out on a Sunday and, to my surprise, received a call the very same day to schedule an estimate appointment. From the onset, it was evident that Rudy has a heap of knowledge and expertise. He listened, really listened, and made suggestions not to pad the company's pocket but to truly meet my needs. This consultative approach is the secret to keeping clients extremely satisfied and appreciated by me. Once the work began, Roland (the owner) showed up to manage the project. You know that when the owner involves himself/herself in the actual work you can be assured that they care about doing the job right. Speaking of which, I can't be happier with the service they provided. They trimmed some significant pieces of two large oak tress in a way that not only eliminated branches too close to my roof (the goal) but the final aesthetics are incredible looking (the bonus). To them, tree trimming is an art and their talent is unequivocal! Additionally, they walked me through another project involving the re-purposing of two large flower beds and were patient with my litany of questions. They're consummate professionals. In short, you can't go wrong with Hill Country. They're efficient, consultative, skilled, experienced, competitively priced and, most importantly, caring. I've got a few more landscaping projects to tackle this year and I will not hesitate to ring Roland and the gang.

I did a lot of research on artificial turf companies servicing the Brushy Creek area and after some shopping around, came across Umesh and KG Lawn Care. After receiving some ridiculous quotes from some of the "bigger" artificial turf companies, offering a lower grade of turf for a substantially higher price, I went forward with the project with Umesh and KG Lawn Care. Umesh took on my project of installing approximately 1000 sqft of artificial turf, metal edging, and black star gravel around some cypress trees. Roughly a month before starting, I expressed to Umesh my desire to have the project completed in time for our family's annual crawfish boil, which he assured me he would fulfill. I can't say enough positive things about Umesh, Lucas, and their crew. As we neared the date of my family's party, Umesh assured me that he would push to make the deadline, even with unpredictable central Texas weather. Umesh not only kept to his promise in finishing the project in time for our party, but also knocked it out of the park! The artificial turf looks incredible and instantly became my daughter's favorite place to play. Umesh and his crew put a level of detail into the project in ensuring every aspect was perfect for my family. As pleased as I am with the project itself, the most noteworthy aspect I want to highlight in this review is how Umesh does business. In a world where so many are looking to cut corners, charge more, and provide less, I found that Umesh is a man of immense integrity who keeps to his word. Umesh delivered on his promise to ensure my yard was immaculate for my family's party, but most notably, his promise on pricing. A day before our turf was set to be installed, Umesh was notified by the turf company that the turf we picked out was no longer available (with zero warning). Umesh was forced to upgrade the turf at a difference of nearly $800. I offered to split the difference with Umesh but was told: "Nah man, it's all good. I like to keep my word and pricing. It's not your fault." This really struck me that Umesh was willing to eat $800 in order to keep his word with me on pricing. KG Lawn Care exceeded my expectations and truly helped me complete my dream back yard - The quality of work and character of Umesh will have me recommending him and his company to all my family and friends!

They handled the full transformation: Texas native plants, fresh sod, irrigation, lighting, a new patio with poured concrete pavers, a pergola, and decking built around our above-ground pool. We worked with their designers to develop the plan, and that process was smooth and collaborative. They listened, had good instincts, and were happy to iterate with us until the design felt right. From first contact to breaking ground took about three months, which felt reasonable given the scope. Once construction started, everything moved fast--the entire project was completed around two to three weeks. Most importantly, we're extremely happy with the outcome. The yard is beautiful and dramatically more usable than before. Jason and Nikk were a pleasure to work with throughout: friendly, proactive, communicative, with good taste and a strong sense for design. When I look back at what made our family choose Green Ease Landscapes & Design, three things stood…read moreout: design expertise, clear and timely communication, and experience to back a vision for what our home could be. That vision has been further realized with the help of Green Ease. The following is a pretty detailed review of our positive experience with Green Ease, owner William P, and his crew. In short: You're going to get a solid service with them, so feel confident trusting them for your landscaping needs. My family's home had suffered a great deal of erosion over the years that required some foundation work. While we were pleased to get that done and over with, the truth is that the front and back yards were just unsightly. The front yard was essentially just dirt and roots. The large oak trees had prevented grass from growing, and the water run-off had exposed the massive roots that made walking outside a danger to everyone. In the back, water would collect and stagnate forming a mud swamp that oversaturated the grass. The back yard was literally being used as a storage area because we would never allow guests back there. Aside from a much-needed design overhaul, our home desperately needed drainage infrastructure to prevent further damage and allow the yard to actually function as an outdoor space. Our initial conversations began after I found Green Ease online and reviewed their mix of hardscaping, landscaping, and xeriscaping pictures and services. We were interested in xeriscaping from a water conservation prospective, and because we knew that the amount of shading in our lot just wouldn't make growing grass sustainable. We also knew that no matter what aesthetic we went with, it was critical to divert water in a way that lessened the chance of further foundation damage and swamp-like conditions in our yard. Those were our priorities, and everything else would be nice-to-haves. Green Ease was far away from us and their typical service area, but we took a chance and gave them a call. Owner William P. agreed to meet with us. He surveyed the property and made several recommendations; the core of which involved creating a retaining wall in the front of the home, installing drainage in the back yard, and utilizing a combination of xeriscaping and turf to uplift the overall look of the home. He took the time to ask my parents what they would like and how they would use the space, and then suggested we consider expanding the patio a bit so that there would be more room in the backyard to sit and enjoy the outdoors. After taking a few measurements, he provided a rough estimate of his work right then and there. We asked for some time to think things over. This was an investment, and we needed to be confident. We got bids from two other landscape design companies. One landscaping company refused to provide an honest bid without committing to a design fee, and the other provided a bid very similar to Green Ease, only after asking us to provide a design concept for the work. In the end, no one but Green Ease provided the design expertise and level of communication that we felt comfortable moving forward with. Once we agreed to move forward, William came out and we discussed the scope of work in a second detailed walk-through, and reviewed expectations and timelines. When work was set to begin, we visited with him to pick out hardscaping materials, and a selection of plants that would fit into our xeriscaped design. William made recommendations; many of which we went with, but we also felt very comfortable choosing another option if we would've had a different design element we wanted to achieve. When we met the crew, we knew we were in good hands. Every one of the crew members treated my folks with a great deal of respect. We hope that they left feeling proud of the work they did, because they did a damn good job. We allowed for a good deal of crew-based decision-making simply because of our busy schedule, and we were happy with all of the decisions they made. I especially want to shout out the fact that there were small but meaningful accommodations made in the design that made it safer and easier for my folks, who are up in their years, to navigate. I'm not sure that level of detail and consideration would've happened with another crew or another company. In the end, what we discussed during our first consult with Green Ease was ultimately what we received as a final product. There were no major surprises that you sometimes get from vision to execution. The front yard and its retaining wall and xeriscaped stone and plants are amazing, the back yard's turf and flagstone patio are beautiful, and the garden area that allows for native plants to flourish are all so visually appealing. We're incredibly grateful for the superb work they completed on our home. We chose Green Ease because we felt William would help realize our vision in a manner that was detail-oriented. That was exactly what we got.

The existing landscape was…read moreovergrown from the builder's original plantings over 20 years earlier, and the previous owners' plantings had never been approved by the HOA and were also overgrown. After drawing up rudimentary front and backyard plans, I began looking for contractors that were highly reviewed. Good communication was an important aspect of this. Green Ease, owned by William Paquette, was the final choice. William met us at the house within a few days of my contacting him. He came across as competent and knowledgeable. He gave his initial estimate very quickly, and we found it to be reasonable relative to one other. The landscape plan included a curved limestone retaining wall, irrigation changes, a metal raised bed, and 2 cedar structures (a simple arbor and a trellis). Plants were included, as well as drip irrigation. William accompanied us to a nearby stone yard and wholesale nursery to make selections for stone, gravel, mulch, and plants. The number of plants included in the bid was determined based on the area being landscaped. The nursery products looked very nice when we made selections. Work began within a few weeks and was managed by Chris. William stopped by a few times. Chris also built a custom metal raised bed. A friend of William's built an amazing and substantial trellis and a cedar arbor. Plants were picked up just before they were to be installed, and I was allowed to place them. The project was deemed finished and was paid for, but there were a few things needing corrections. William was responsive and able to fit these fixes in within a few weeks. The positive aspects of this landscaping experience included excellent communication with William, his accompanying us to the stone yard and nursery, well-executed stone work, and the superb trellis and arbor. The guys did a great job of removing old plantings and filling in areas where new sod was needed. The negatives included areas I felt were not as well executed as they could have been, and are the reason for deducting one star on this review. The steel bed, while nicely made, did not fit flush against the patio and was filled with poor quality soil before I noticed the gap between bed and patio. The first "fix" by Chris was putting gravel into the gap and using mortar to seal the ends. The mortar cracked, and a second "fix" of steel being welded to hold the gravel in was done. It's functional but not pretty. Also, the plants that were brought in were definitely not the quality of those we looked at with William. Virtually all of them were leggy, and many looked unhealthy. Several ended up being replaced. I was also not happy that the arbor was positioned without first verifying the desired location. Still, the overall appearance of the landscape is very good, with the standout custom features. Green Ease is a business I would recommend to others. They handle every aspect of landscaping and do a good job.
