I chose this establishment for my mid-morning meal based on two things. The word "cafe" in their name and the promise of "mole" on their menu. This was neither a "cafe" nor was what I ate "mole". Look up the definition of "cafe" and the definition of "mole" on the internet and neither of these definitions were represented by Haydees Cafe. Atmosphere was typical quick serve restaurant. Service was ok. Do not order the "mole" expecting mole. I received 1" chunks of chicken in a thicker than usual red sauce. There were runny refried beans. A serving of (what appeared to be) brown (probably just grease) rice and a palm-sized serving of shredded lettuce and tomatoes. Their only "cafe" offering was drip-brewed coffee. Service was okay and fairly quick. If you're looking for standard fare Mexican, this is a pretty good choice. Just don't expect anything out of the ordinary or special. read more

Amazing! Finally a Mexican place that knows how to make good tacos especially breakfast tacos. I wish they could open up a store in Atlanta so I don't have to drive so far to get the breakfast tacos. I had never ordered or eaten from Haydee's Cafe until today. I called to place an order for pick up for about 10 people at my office. The lady who answered the phone was very helpful but decided she thought it appropriate to have the owner call me to complete the process. He was extremely nice and accommodating and I let him choose what to make- even with some religious restrictions and it was a success! We had ham and egg, chorizo and egg, and vegetable tacos. I think all the people that have reviewed this place must be friends. The food was terrible. The tamales didn't have any meat in them. The horchata water was from pre-mix powder. The refried beans taste like they were from a can. Nothing authentic about this place. I will definitely not be returning back. I also ordered a cheese dip that wasn't even melted all the way. I stopped in for lunch and tried the taco plate. They brought me 4 crispy around the edges tacos with a side of beans. They were very good and went very fast. Happened into this place yesterday after a meeting in Oakwood, and this is LEGIT. 4 taco special with choice of meat, cilantro, onion and avo, with some killer home made red sauce on the side. My guest had authentic pork with nopales. Smelled just like grandmas back in the west coast days, and these tacos would definitely hold their own in SoCal! Do not miss out on the guacamole. It was so fresh and delicious I wish I could have found a way to eat it by the spoonful for my lunch. Home made flour and corn tortillas. Excellent. A very good lunch with portions that are perfect so you don't have to take a nap after but I am full. I am a gringo so I played it safe. I got a quesadilla. It was very good. The staff is bilingual and very friendly. Obviously, they are trying hard to be a very good restaurant and I think they have a great start.
