a green food truck at night
Mark N.

Found Hawk's in the SE parking lot outside of Jerry's Bar (6301 Military Ave) just north of Infusion Brewing Co. in Benson. Their main attraction is their spent grain pizzas, which I ordered two slices, the first was their Carnivore's Delight (Beef, Sausage, Pepperoni and Bacon) which came in a very generous slice, and was quite good for a midnight snack. The second I had was their That's Amore (White sauce, Chicken, Bacon, Green Peppers, and Tomatoes) which was alright, but nothing special. The crusts tended to end up to be more like hard crackers, but I would suspect that is what becomes of spent grain. As with most Food Trucks you will have to find their Facebook page to see where and when they will be. This weekend their schedule looked like this: Friday 9/26 9-close Jerry's Bar Saturday 9/27 7-close Library Pub Friday 10/3 9-close Jerry's Bar Saturday 10/4 12-3pm Paradigm Gardens Saturday 10/4 6-close Library Pub Sunday 10/5 12-3pm Paradigm Gardens Tuesday 10/7 5-9ish Crescent Moon Ale House They are worth a try to see if they hit your bill!

Me and my family love the last few pizzas from here. We think the crust has been perfect and the toppings plentiful!

I liked the rojo and verde but they had other kinds too. Any place with good birria tacos will make me a fan, and they have me! The consommé was rich and the cheese plentiful. My husband loved the street tacos. They don't have drinks but they have aguas frescas and horchata. The horchata was so good I didn't really even miss having a marg with my tacos. Service was quick and so great. We had the food delivered to the table and when I went up to order a churro at the end, they didn't even have me wait in line for it, they just put the order in and said I could pay on the way out. I loved that since it's an order and pay at the counter situation. Loved the decor and the casual vibes, and I seriously love that the mascot is a cute pup, they have a picture of them behind the counter!

This turned out to be fortuitous, since we had excellent Mexican food at the tiny El Churro storefront. It's very cheerful inside, a direct contrast to the bar next door, and as it happens, El Churro can deliver their food next door if you want adult beverages. We opted to stay put. The menu is easy to read, posted in large print across the front of the ordering counter. There's also a chalkboard listing specials. I opted for a bowl, and Big Bro went with a quesabirria plate of 3 tacos. He pronounced it "muy delicioso" but thought it a bit overpriced for the serving size. I ordered a bowl which had rice, beans, lettuce, crema, and a choice of protein. I chose sweet potato as my protein, even though it is a carb, but it fitted in deliciously with the other ingredients. It may have also had tomato and cilantro. I thought it was great. Big Bro had horchata, and I opted for water but there's also a cold drinks case with soda and bottled water. Even though it's called El Churro and there are several varieties of churros, we decided not to indulge. There's a serve-yourself bin of warm tortilla chips with four different kinds of sauces going from very mild to very hot. We discovered this on our way out, so Big Bro grabbed a basket to go. They also have a burger on the menu that appears to be an add-on homage to O'Leaver's. I recommend skipping the bar next door and coming here instead.

First off, customer service was excellent. I'm not super familiar all the Indian cuisine…read moreingredients, and they were helpful explaining the ingredients and processes. I ordered the chicken vindaloo and the gobi Manchurian. The chicken vindaloo had really good spices and flavor. The chicken however was a bit on the dry side. Now the Gobi Manchurian made all the difference. It was cooked to order. Spicy with a little crunch (I ordered take-out, so it may have been crunchier had it not had a lid and condensation). First time trying it and I will definitely try to make my own version since there's no Indian cuisine in my area. I'm happy I stopped by. I would gladly return in the future when I'm in town. Highly recommend if you like Indian or just want to try something new.

The Coke -- perfectly chilled. Everything else was disappointing. The rice tasted stale, like it had been sitting around way too long. The butter chicken had zero flavor -- no seasoning, no depth, just bland sauce with what looked like a few boiled chunks of chicken thrown in. For something labeled "spicy," there was absolutely no heat. The naan was just okay, but definitely not "butter naan." Dry, no butter, nothing special. This felt like the bare minimum effort across the board. Would not order again.
