Over the past few years I've had John do quite a few things for my 2012 Fatboy. He's done brakes, tires, brake light switches, 20k and 30k services, a new Barnett clutch, and installed my Woods 222 cams. He's a true master of his craft, communicative, and as reasonably priced as you'll find in the Harley world. On a recommendation, I had John replace both tires on my Electra Glide. Not only did he have it complete in a couple days, but he mounted and balanced them for free since I bought the tires through him. He also tightened up my shifter, which has been giving me problems since I bought the bike, at no extra cost. To top it off, a week or so later, my left muffler detached from the rear connection as I pulled into work. With a single phone call, John drove to my office in Redmond, reattached my muffler and I was good to go. It is refreshing to meet a mechanic that is not only skilled, but also loves the bikes he works on and understands what customer service is! John was amazing. I suddenly got this rapid hammering sound when accelerating in 1st and 2nd gear. I was able to to find some possible issues online and attempted to find and fix it Sunday morning. I quickly realized that this was way beyond my skill set and started to look for a repair shop. I'd previously had a bad experience with a local dealer so I wanted to find an independent repair shop. I found John online, and called Sunday afternoon expecting to just leave a message. I was shocked when John answered, and even more so when he actually was trying to see if he could help me over the phone. He drove out to my house and picked up the bike and its parts (half taken apart), free of charge, late Sunday evening. He kept me up to date on the bike throughout the week, so I could make the decisions on how to proceed. He is not out to nickel and dime you. He is a fellow biker who is trying to help get us back out on the road. He was able to find the issue in my transmission and fix it within a week. He completely took apart the gear set to inspect each individual piece. When I came in the following Sunday to pick up the bike, I expected to be at least 5-6 hours of shop time deep (not to even mention the time he spent with me in person, over the phone, and via text). I was pleasantly surprised to see that wasn't the case. The bike has never shifted this well. It's smooth and tight. He definitely cares about the bikes, but even more so about the riders. John was able to make the whole process pain free which was greatly needed as I was possibly expecting to have to replace the whole gear set. I am now a lifetime customer of John's for all of my repair needs and am recommending him to all of my friends and family. Do yourself a favor, stay away from the dealers who don't care about the bikes, either rush through the repairs or drag them on for an eternity, and overcharge on everything; and go support one of our local shop owners. I just moved here from Colorado. My 2001 Heritage with my 103cc was running poorly in Washington's thick air. John tweaked it and it is now running better than when I had the engine rebuilt to the 103cc. I also needed a tire. For the fair price of the tire he also mounted and balanced it. You won't get that at a dealership! John truly cares about his fellow bikers and is more than fair! If you've been getting service at a dealership, give John a try. I went to see John at Hawg Doc after picking up an older evo wide glide. The previous owner had passed away and had taken pretty good care of it however I wanted it checked out. John performed a 20K service and also changed out the fork oil, adjusted the windscreen, shocks and several other smaller items. It was immediately obvious he is a straight shooter with a wide depth and breadth of experience regarding harleys. He knew my bike model inside and out and had never seen it before. The costs were quite reasonable especially after going to one of the local dealers who quoted quite a bit more than what John charged. John also quoted me a week wait and that was ok, then next thing I knew he had it done in 2 days! He texted me the bill before he started work and that was what he charged me when done. I have been to may different type and style of scooter shops and Hawg Doc is one of the best. He is a good guy who knows what he is doing and doesn't have a bunch of hanger-ons hanging out, just a nice shop with reasonable rates and good care given to the bikes entrusted to his care. read more
