We were having issues with one of the cable boxes in our home. We tried trouble shooting the issue but nothing helped. We called and tlan employee told us that we needed to take our box to a location. We were happy to hear that there was a location near to us. The employee that we spoke to on the phone made our transaction smooth and getting the new box was quick and also easy to find. I followed the directions given as well as followed a map and it was very easy to find. It is on the corner of Kamaaha Ave and Fort Barrette Road. You need to drive a little slow or you could miss the driveway but not hard to find at all. It is a single stand alone one story building surrounded by a fence with a green roof. When you arrive, you need to get buzzed in. The employee who helped me inside was quick and to the point. He was helpful and it was also an easy transaction. Glad that this location was close by and that I didnt need to drive all the way to town. read more

We've been Hawaiian Telcom customers before they were Hawaiian Telcom. They used to be the Hawaiian Telephone Company. Back in the day they were the designated carrier that could be counted upon in crisis situations. Very reliable service. Yes we've gone through all of their upgrades to their systems. The latest " Fiber Optics " is still full of "Bugs" that prevent the system of living up to its potential. They're switching to TiVo which means all of their customers will have to eventually switch over. Unfortunately the programming they started out with is no longer available. Your DVR is obsolete and unfortunately you'll lose all of your content. When asked they speak about Upgrading the system. But the changes have not been smooth nor seamless. We would constantly lose our connection only to watch a blank or frozen screen. Not to mention the loss of programs that they no longer do business with the parent company due to expired contracts. But yet they charge us the same price. On a positive note they're going to open a new branch in the Kamakani Ali'i Mall. Hopefully a sign of better things to come. read more

I had a tech man come to get the new upgrade and it was not done correctly. Then I went thru 3 phone calls from the Philippines to no avail. I finally called for another tech appt. I struck gold his name was Brax and he was polite, on time, and had a great sense of humor. The best part was that he had my TV up and working correctly within 10 minutes which 3 phone calls and a tech visit earlier could not help at all. I have been monitoring customer feedback good and bad since we are considering switching from Spectrum. 2 friends, one in Hawaii Kai the other in Kaneohe have switched back to Spectrum after all their promotions expired and paid a lot more than they expected. I probably will stick with Spectrum until my bill surpasses my limit. read more

This place or downtown? We opted for Kapolei since we all know it's difficult Downtown. We punched it into the GPS but still missed it. It just kinda sneaks up on you and once you drive past it's too late. We ended up going around the block. It looks like a utility building. The signage is bad and the driveway isn't great. There not even enough road for two cars to drive on it at the same time! But you can turn in equipment and pay bills in person or drop off. read more

This review is actually ZERO stars! I highly do not recommend Hawaiian Telcom. Unbelievable amount of complaints under BBB. Called for internet/WIFI installation and got a lightning bolt appointment. Technician came over and damaged our panel to the attic and did not notify us on site or include the damage in his installation report. DECEITFUL act. I immediately texted the technician pictures of the damage and his tool left behind. The technician read the text the same day and CRICKETS! Auwe. I have submitted my complaint to customer service and followed up for TWO weeks and crickets. Interesting, I CAN'T get lightning bolt response by text, phone, or email or resolution from Hawaiian TELCOM. We understand accidents happen. However, when 1) property damage is not disclosed to the homeowner, 2) the technician ignores a text with pixs of damages he caused (read same day of incident), and 3) management ignores to respond to two weeks of calls to their services center, it all reflects deceitful business practice and can not be deemed trustworthy. I had no choice but to file with PUC, FCC, and BBB. I guess Hawaiian Telcom has one goal - INSTALL and IGNORE. read more

They should change their name since it is not Hawaii based. I have been tyring to set up service, by HOA is already a service member. I've been on the phone with someone over 50 minutes, that has a very heavy accent and I can barley understand (located in the Phillipines). So fustrating. They asked for my social security number to do a credit check (which seems SUS since I am alerady paying throught my HOA). The person I spoke with said their named was Angel, and she told me that I needed to send her an email with a picture ID. I sent it to her a couple of times and she said that she did not receive it, but also that she need to eat lunch and will check after she was done eating. (what the hell ??) I signed on to Hawaiian tel a couple of days ago and dumped them today. After I read the email they sent e describing my potential services. I called back and told them I wanted the 400 mb plan guaranteed for $30/month for a year. So he first said your new total per month is $184.97, that is from $184.66. GREAT savings!. I explained to him (who is not in this country) the is more for less. Then he said he would start over. He came back with $144.92. I asked how much for the internewt alone. His response ' 'llI get to that shortly". after repeatedly asking he finally told me internet part was $62.99. I asked what about the $30 promotion in the email I am looking at, he said $62.99. I've been a Hawaiian Telcom internet customer for about two years. Recently, I called in to inquire about my internet latency, but the technician seemed unsure of what I was asking. They kept telling me that internet speeds vary, which wasn't my question. I wanted to know the normal latency range I should expect for which you are supposed to provide -- for example, something like 10-30 ms. Despite my repeated clarification, the technician continued to provide irrelevant responses, such as how speeds can vary depending on the app or the speed test server location. None of this addressed my actual question. Eventually, they escalated my issue to a "Tech 2," who replied by saying that since I'm getting 800 Mbps, I should be in the range of 600-800 Mbps -- which, again, had nothing to do with my question. It seems that Hawaiian Telcom's support team is not well-trained and lacks basic understanding of customer inquiries. Their responses suggest a lack of competence, and their inability to answer a simple question is frustrating. I would advise staying away from their services. read more

Pretty much awful. Transferred the account from my landlord which makes me unqualified for any promotions even though I'm a new customer. Changed to a paper bill and it took 20 minutes. Called to change the billing telephone number from my landlord and they won't let me because it's the account's original telephone number. It what world does this make sense. So if I don't know my account number when I call, I have to provide my landlords telephone number. This company makes me angry every time I call. read more

Getting set up and terminating my service was easy to do. Drop off locations for equipment were convenient for me because I live in Waipahu and work in the heart of downtown. Both locations were always near. Cable and Internet service was ok. We ended up cancelling cable completely and just going with internet service only with Spectrum due to the speeds they could provide. read more

Never had to do that with Spectrum. $1 something on line or $5 with live agent. If they want to keep charging me that fee; I might have to switch back to Spectrum. HT Kapolei station: I just needed to exchange my dying remote control. I checked the website and it says closed at 7pm. Since it was 5pm, I headed right over. There is a sign on their door that says as of Aug 20, 2020 they will be closing at 5pm M-F. It was 5:20 but I buzzed the doorbell anyway and lucky for me, the employee was still there. She allowed me in and let me do the quick exchange. So the correct hours are Sunday closed; 9 to 5 M - F; and 9 to ?? Saturday. read more

Forgot to post for the other day, I called technical support about my cable box not working and the person on the phone I think it was Luana was very helpful. Told them the box doesn't work and it couldn't turn on and it was smoking which is my brothers cable box. I'm the main contact for the cable bill and Luana was able to make an appt for downtown to exchange the cable box. Luckily, the next day I turned it in and exchange for a new one. Terrible customer service. The one star is to leave a review. I am guessing the reps' condescending, contemptuous attitudes are in part born out of having the advantage--Hawaiian Telcom has a monopoly on Fiber Optic Cable. Hopefully that will change in the near future. Hawaiian connotes the native of this aina. The word for the way the reps behaved is mahaoi. It should be called Island Telcom. That's no way to represent. Read on if you want the gory details. After experiencing close to 48 hours of loss connection, and waiting for 2 hours on hold for a sales rep, Kelly answers and over the course of 22 minutes proceeds to put me on hold obviously distracted and/or bored. Problem still not solved, I had little faith that a Tech would get back to me as Kelly indicated. I called Sales hoping for better service. Big mistake. Cole gives me the--duh attitude along with his assistance which always makes one feel "special." (Sarcasm intended). Cole blames my VPN, and says, "You obviously know nothing about VPN." I know now that the call is not being recorded. Cole blames my computer, asserts the problem is solved and says he is going to cancel any further tech assistance. Apparently all the reps are trained to trouble shoot. Now, I have worked in retail sales and made every attempt to kill the two reps with kindness, all to no avail. As it turns out other Mililani residents were experiencing dropped internet coverage during the same time period. Eventually the issue was resolved. As I write this it has been another 24 hours and still no call back from Hawaiian Telcom, as a new rep, Sandy, had promised. Sandy said she had emailed the appropriate department about a new concern. At least Sandy acknowledged that I had lost over a week of internet coverage and said it would be credited to my elderly mother's account, but she too was rude in a way that made clear--"Hawaiian" Telcom has the upper hand. read more

My TV service was skipping and dragging and the movies channels kept getting caught in a loop delay to load every 3-5 minutes. I tried to report on line and the site would not accept the trouble ticket. I called and finally got thru to a technician who tried to trouble shoot on the phone. He finally recommended that a tech needed to come and said he will be there between 9am - 4pm on this past Wednesday. I called on early Wednesday morning to ask where I would be on the Tech's schedule if it would be morning or evening timeframe so that I would not have to miss a full day's work. After 3, yes 3 times, no one was willing to call the tech with the work order to find out for me and just kept giving me the standard time-frame and that he will call 30 minutes before. So I gave up and decided to wait...the tech NEVER called and NEVER showed and it was 5 PM! I was extremely frustrated at the time and waited before writing this review. You can have the best packages out there but it is not a bargain if it doesnt work accordingly to enjoy it! These are the FACTS...you judge for yourself if you want Hawaiian Telcom versus another for your cable, phone and internet service provider. read more

This company is the biggest SCAM ARTISTS I have ever dealt with in my entire life. My blood is boiling as I'm writing this and I am absolutely livid. We had a 2 year contract with them, paying $157 a month, for cable and internet that just ran up last month. We were just sent a $233 bill since our "promotional period" just rant out and called to inquire about it. Sat on hold for 2 HOURS before they had an AUTOMATED message saying they would call us back within another 2 hours. We never did get that call back. Next day we sat on hold with that stupid annoying music for another 2 hours before we finally spoke to someone. They were rude and gave no apology or explanation for the price hike other than what was originally stated, so we let them know we that the next call would be to cancel the service after starting a contract with a new company. I just checked my email before bed and saw that our next bill is now OVER SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS!!!! We have been on hold for the past hour shaking with disgust, but no one has picked up, no voicemail has come on, and no offer to be called back at a later time. We will have to call back again and waste even more time with this horrible company before we will even begin to understand how they could even comprehend trying to charge us over six hundred dollars for cable and internet for one month! I'm so disgusted. And no, we don't owe them any money, so this does not include any past unpaid amounts. We have always paid on time and early every single month. I visited here for the first time after having issues with my modem box with Hawaiian Telcom. I ended up having to replace and exchange it and they sent me to the Kapolei Depot down in Ft. Barrett Rd. When you go there, the address is technically on Kama'aha St. but the entrance and exit is technically on the down Ft. Barrett Rd. They have a decent amount of parking in front of the depot. The depot is actually more like a small office. I thought they would have a chair or something to sit on but the office is small so you just have to stand up before being helped. And they only have one worker too. I came on a Saturday morning and there were a couple of people in there already. It could get a little crowded. The lady on the counter is decent so I guess the experience and service is ok. read more

Their customer service is great but their internet service sucks. I was paying for 1GB service and I was only getting 350 MBPS download and that connected directly to my modem. On top of that I wasn't getting any local sports channel and my box keeps freezing. It's time for a change read more
