I have been going to Hawaii Nails since I moved here about a year ago from Hawaii -- no brainier right?!? I called, made an appointment and by luck I got Tommy. So good! Fast, Efficient & my nails looked FABULOUS! We got to talking and he owned a nail shop down the street from my house in Hawaii. Go figure! I've been going back ever since--pedicures are always on point and nails--full set/fills always gorgeous! They do take walk-ins but im a reservation/appointment gal. Sometimes I have a little wait but never too long and I always get a same day appointment. I've never gone to anyone but Tommy--he's my guy! The salon is usually busy Thursday-Saturday, not an empty seat. They do a bunch of services but I've only had my nails done here & never a bad experience. They have a stamp card, get a stamp for each service. After 10 stamps it can be redeemed for $10 off your next service. Win! Super Happy with Hawaii Nails!! read more

I have been coming to the nail salon for years. I just so happen to go last week while owner/Tommy who usually does my nails is on vacation so I had services provided from a lady who sits at the front nail station to the left. I asked for an almond shape full set of nails. She did what I asked her to do, but the shaping of the nails needed more shaping, and the acrylic was laid down very thick. When she was finished, I mentioned to her that I did not like the way the nails came out that they needed to be thinned out and re-shaped. It looked as if I needed a fill before I left. She told me that if I wanted for it to look new then I need to pay additional for that. I told her that I had to leave and would not pay anything extra. She told me if I did not like my nails to come back on Tuesday because they were closed on Monday and she would fix it. I didn't make it out until Thursday, but before I went to the salon, I called and spoke with her and she told me to come in at a certain time and that she would fix it. Once I got there, she looked at my hands and she said everything was fine and that if I wanted any additional services I would have to pay for them. She recommended that I would get a fill, and if I wanted them to be thinned out, they would charge me to take them off and charge me for a brand new set to be placed back on. I find it ridiculous and sad that a long time customer has to go look for another nail salon because she did not want to fix what she had done. Unfortunately, I have acrylic all on the sides of my nail onto the skin and she still would not fix that. The shape is not the same for all nails and they are not even. She was very quick to try to get me to sit down and offer services to me but at full price. I understand this is a business, and everyone wants to make money, but the service you provide does matter. If the customer is not happy with the services you provided, then the nail tech should fix the work that was done. She was quick to argue with me, but still wanted me to sit down and get services done at full price. It's really sad because I am a loyal customer and have been going there for so many years, but to pay as much as they're charging and not be satisfied or not even mediocre happy for that matter is totally not worth it. There are a ton of nail salons all down Culebra where anyone can just move on as I have done now. If you do go to the nail salon, I would suggest you use Tommy or the other male gentleman and if neither one of them are available, don't settle for anyone else. read more

The very tall thin Vietnamese man that did my nails cut under the top of my big toe. Told him 3 times to stop, he did not. He stated "I am cleaning". My husband was offered water. I was not. The man that did my nails was very rude and arrogant for no reason. The shop is clean and ladies that have given me a pedi or mani have been great but this man was AWFUL! Unfortunately I had a really rough time. I decided to try this spot close to home instead of driving to my usual spot and boy did I learn my lesson. The service and vibe were a little off. I came in for a refill and he didn't take my previous nail polish (blue) off all the way, instead painted over it. He did a layer of paint then pink. While he did the pedicure I asked for him to fix my nails now that I got a closer look because it was messy. White , and blue pieces of paint you could see and were on my fingers. He "fixed" it by filing down the white but it still showed. At this point I was just frustrated and left. read more

I got a shellac mani this is the first place I've ever been that the gel nail polish is CHEAP! This polish was peeling within 3 days! Maybe it was the person that did that just isn't good. I forgot her name but when you walk in she is in the front on the left first desk. She also not very personable tried having some simple conversation and she wasn't engaging at all. Probably wouldn't come back maaaaybeeee for a pedi to see how that is with regular polish. read more

Can you give negative ratings? I was so disappointed in Brian or whatever he calls himself. Don't ever, ever, ever go there. They are all nice until you need to get a nail fixed and then they treat you like dirt, Brian. I've never been so disrespected in my life. Brian and Kimmie needs to go away or learn some manners. Went in for a fill with Shalac polish and 5 different colors for each finger total was $45( which is a bit much for a simple fill and simple "design" ) The lady was already super rude , didn't talk back with me, yanking my hand , and you can tell she was rushing. She finishes and it turned out great besides her getting nail polish all over my left thumb after she had already put my hand in the Lamp. So I had dried polish all over my thumb cuticle /skin. I asked her if she could clean it, she said yes and proceeded to use a drill to clean it off also scraping some of the polish off in the process. Today I woke up and that polish started coming up. I haven't asked them to fix it yet but I will most likely have to pay probably an arm and leg. read more

Worst nail tech. Decided to come here because my friend has been here a few times and it's close to me. First off they have a good selection of dip nails and I selected one and was told it was sparkle so I got that one and while the lady is doing my nails I asked if they also cut the cuticle because normally they should. She said it was extra so I didn't get it. When she was done my nails didn't look sparkly they looked like sand paper! And towards the end she put the clear coat and sent me on my way. She didn't put any oils or gave me a hand massage. So 45 dollars for her to mess up my natural nail shape and horrible service. I'm never cheating on my nail tech ever again. read more

I've visited here twice , recieved a friendly visit both times. First time I did the deluxe pedicure with lemon sea salt for 35.00, great job but they did not offer any decorations, pedicure lasted two weeks, normally it last longer. I did the shellac for the nails. Asked for eyebrows but she was getting her nails done. Second visit I was with sherry, she did my nails with great detail and my eyebrows. Only negative thing I have to say is that the sheet and towel you lay on to have waxing done is not changed between clients. I went to a place down the street from my house and got a full set done. As always I didn't realize how awful they were until I was gone. They were chunky, thick, crooked, uneven, and bumpy. I was soo embarrassed. Then I saw a patient's nails and then we're beautiful so she recommended Hawaii nails. I went and got a pedicure they did such an amazing job. I felt soo pampered. I have had a hard time finding a place in San Antonio that can execute the cute nail designs I usually get done back east. The price of getting a shellac manicure with my nail design was $45, which is lower than back home. Kimmi did my nails- she was patient, did a good job on the marble nail design, and fixed one of the embellishments that dried crookedly. I still had chunks of the hard powder under my nails and polish all over my hands. She used the drill and cut up my cuticles and just kept going. My friend and I got a 'Basic Pedicure' which consisted of polish removal, shape and trim, cuticle grooming, callus removal, foot scrub, foot massage, hot towels, and polish. $25! A very reasonable price! The employees were very nice and offered us drinks consisting of soda or water. The cleanliness was immaculate, with a plastic liner inside the tub station and tools sanitized in a sealed pouch. They also have a wide selection of nail polish colors to choose from. My friend also got an eyebrow wax, and her eyebrows came out looking clean and shaped nicely. I love this place. Tucked away in a semi-sketchy looking strip mall off of Culebra, this place is super clean and inviting. I've always made an appointment by calling in 1-3 hours before I want to come in, and I've never had to wait more than 3 minutes. They have 10 pedi bowls in the back with great massage chairs and great nail techs. They also offer beverages, including Soda and water. They have at least 8 mani tables and they offer a Shellac and Powder. This was the first place I've had the powder, and it lasted 3 weeks on my nails without chipping. I love Hawaii Nails! The salon is very clean (disposable plastic coverings on pedi tubs and sanitized tools), and employees always greet me with a smile and offer something to drink. Ly Ly is the only one I've had do my nails here, and she is incredible! She takes her time and is very detailed. Her foot and leg massage is so relaxing. This place gets really busy, so it's better to call ahead of time to make sure you get full attention (regarding other reviews about rushed services). I like the music videos; pretty entertaining. So happy I found Hawaii Nails on Yelp which is ironic because I'm from Hawaii. I'm visiting San Antonio and unsure where to go. There are about 4 nail shops within a mile from my fiance's house. I checked online and although some salons received 4 stars, the pictures told another story (i.e. red cuticles, bad polish jobs, etc.) Hawaii Nails had 5 stars and they earned it. Walked in with no appointment, waited 5 minutes. Just needed an acrylic fill with gel top coat. Tommy was FABULOUS! Great conversation, quick, inexpensive and an overall nice guy. Salon was clean, plenty of mani & pedi stations. Full services for nails, waxing, facials and eyelashes. I will be coming back and highly recommend this salon. read more

I was originally impressed with this place. Very clean, plastic foot covers for the tubs for pedicures, nice furnishings and they do take your time on your nails and don't rush. However, I wanted a design on my nails consisting of straight lines- that's it. I had to wait 15 minutes for the only nail tech who does designs to do it, was charged 8$ and it was less than impressive. Then less than a day later all my shellac manicure was spider cracking on every single nail. I went in to get it fixed so we'll see how these hold up.
