There were a few hurdles, but he worked out all of the kinks & came up with a time that was agreeable for all. Lupe did all of the actual repair & he did a wonderful job. Our problem stemmed from a toilet flooding in the apartment above our unit. Fortunately we were home at the time of the accident so we were able to use buckets to catch all of the water that dripped through the ceiling, medicine cabinet & exhaust fan. Due to insurance delays resulting from the owner of the apartment causing the damage, it literally took two months to finally get approval for testing, mitigation & repair work. Luckily we didn't encounter any mold issues but the ceiling above the shower stall had been so badly damaged that we had to have that replaced. The company that provided the mitigation services completed that aspect of the cleanup & was to also perform the repair but abandoned us after they had removed part of the ceiling, leaving a gaping hole. They ghosted us after I questioned why we paid for work that was never performed during the mitigation. After several attempts at contacting this company, we decided to find another company to complete the ceiling repair. A friend suggested we call Oahu Ace Handyman Services since they had used the outfit & was happy about the results. Their advertising indicated drywall work so we decided to give them a call. From the moment we contacted Jon, he was very responsive & professional. Since his company has started to build an excellent reputation locally, they've gotten very busy, so it took a few days to have Lupe come in, assess the situation & provide an estimate. We felt that their estimate was competitive and in our case, even better than the estimate provided by the mitigation company. Once we committed, it was really impressive how updates and information were routinely provided by either text or email. We've worked with other local companies that would schedule work with us but never hear from them until we initiated a followup call or email to confirm the appointment. On the days of the scheduled appointments, we would even receive texts informing us that Lupe was en route and the possible time of arrival. He was always punctual. Lupe's drywall work was superb! We couldn't even tell the transition. Both the texture and paint matched perfectly. He was so pleasant to work with as he has a bubbly personality. He was informative, friendly, accommodating & had a good sense of humor. He worked fast, efficiently and cleaned up after himself each day. He setup barriers to minimize the dust generated from settling onto our furniture and laid down thick brown paper along the path he walked to protect our new LVF. After the work was completed he vacuumed all the floors affected and thoroughly inspected the area to ensure that there was no paint splatter or inadvertent residual "mud". The actual work was completed in less than the time of the initial quote, so the labor portion of the bill was adjusted and reduced as such. How's that for honesty? Saw this business pop up on my yelp search and since Ace is a well known brand, decided to give it a try. Mike showed up on time each day and was very professional. I appreciated him taking the time to go through the process of what he would do and kept me updated every step of the way. After taking out the windows, we noticed the wall was slightly uneven, but after he finished putting in drywall, everything looked amazing. The wall was smooth and seamless. You would never know windows were there! Very happy with the work that was done! Finally a handyman that doesn't give you a vague schedule and actually shows up at a specific time versus having to wait all day for them to *hopefully* show up. Prices might be a little higher than some other companies, but it's definitely worth it! Professional, on time, and high quality service. You definitely get what you pay for. Highly recommend!
