She said they would come out and then give a free estimate. Sage called and said they were on their way. When they arrived, I met him and Anton and took them up to my parents apartment. They looked at it, took a photo, and sent it to the owner. I felt the estimate was fair. If your couch is a biohazard, there will be an extra charge. I love that I could schedule a pick up online. It was so convenient and easy. Unfortunately, the day and time I selected was not available, but I was called and asked to reschedule for another date which wasn't a problem for me. I was able to text a photo so they had an idea of what needed to be picked up (mattress and cinder blocks). On the day of pick up, they called me to let me know they were running late and I really appreciated that. They were courteous and even swept up the area where I left the items. I bought pre-owned a mini-fridge from Jorge at Aloha Junk Man. It was the best fridge I found, like new and for an excellent price. Jorge gave easy directions to their warehouse and I used gps plus his directions for where to turn once on the property. We planned a day for he and his crew to come to our place and check it out and give us an estimate bit they had a previous job that was bigger than expected so he was only able to come and take a look at our place and give us an estimate. We had to clear out room with water damaged furniture, carpet and cabinets. As we started to demo the room, found a water leak in pipes. We had to call the neighborhood boys to help haul all junk immediately to fix water leak. We called Aloha Junk Man and requested cancellation of pick up along with refund of deposit. 12 February 2021 When I relocated, I brought my washer/dryer with me since I was previously living in a rental and owned my own appliances. When I moved into my house here in Hawaii there was already a washer and a dryer, so now I have 2 sets. Both sets are in good working condition but of course I don't have the need for both. I tried using the Salvation Army pick up option to donate one set but with covid, that service has been indefinitely canceled. I suppose I could have rented a truck and deliver them myself but that seem like such a hassle to me (also the same reason I didn't even consider selling them). Thus, I turned to Yelp. After searching my trusty Yelp app for household items pick up, I choose Aloha Junk Man specifically because they donate usable items to people who need them. I initially called on 2 February to inquire about the pick up & donation process. After I was given a brief run-down, I scheduled an appointment to have the items picked up. I was told they would first give me a no obligation quote and if I agreed to the cost I could proceed. The scheduling process was easy. I called the number listed but there was no answer; within 5 minutes I received a call back from a female employee. My appointment was scheduled for 13 February (Saturday) (it was earlier in the week but I had to reschedule due to work). However, I received a call the day prior (Friday) stating that they had opening later that day if I were available. I was so I agreed to meet. When the truck arrived, the two men greeted me, asked about the items, and provided me a quote. They both wore masks the entire time. If I remember correctly, Luke explained that they charge by cubic feet. I guess he is familiar with the standard size of a washer and dryer because he didn't take any measurements or anything before quoting a price. I thought it was a bit high for items I was essentially donating but after a year of them sitting around unused, I wanted them gone; maybe someone can put them to better use. I agreed to the price and paid Luke while the other employee loaded the items onto the truck. The entire process lasted less than 20 minutes. It was easy and convenient. read more
