Until recently, I was doing this maintenance at the dealer. During my 90,000-mile service, the dealer told me I needed to re-seal my oil pan because it was leaking...and they wanted to charge $3,000 for it because it would require removing the engine to get at the oil pan. I didn't have a spare $3K laying around (especially during the holidays!) so I called Schierl to see how much they'd charge. They took the dealer's diagnosis at face value and estimated $1800 sight unseen (with a warning that it could potentially cost more if they opened it up and the problem was different or more severe). Given the significantly lower price for the exact same service, I booked the service on the spot. When I took my car in a week later, I was *shocked* when the technican called me back to take a look. There wasn't a drop of oil in sight. No leaky seal, nothing. They didn't charge a penny--not even a diagnostic fee. I'd already had great experiences with Schierl for tire maintenance and new tires. After this, they'll also be doing all of my recommended Subaru maintenance...and, I suspect, at a fraction of what the dealer was charging. This experience has made me a Schierel customer for life. (Or at least for as long as I live in the area.)
