Another Vancouver casino and horse racing track Not so big place but they have everything a gambler can ask for.theres restaurants and cafe the casino area is not open 24 hours so always check for their hours of operation Friendly staff, clean wash room Some of the slot machines are alredy old, blurd and poor sounds but most machines are still good. Not a bad place to have fun accessible by bus

Casino and horse racing across the street from PNE. Parking is plentiful in the lot next to the building. The venue is seriously dated (looks like something built in the 1970s). There's a small casino downstairs, and the horse racing stuff is above. The entire building can use some renovations. Most of the TV screens are still CRTs for crying out loud. There's also an outdoor area with bleachers. Not sure how full it gets during the summer but was pretty empty when we went. At least the outdoor area is covered. Horse racing is actually pretty fun to bet on, as the minimum bet is only $2, and the payouts are also pretty good. Also there's quite a bit of luck involved, so it's very entertaining betting on random horses. There is also a restaurant located above (Silks). Food isn't bad at all. See my separate review.

Been to this place three or four times. Only once I seen a horse race lmao. Awesome track but not many races. Also casino has only slot machines. Ultra relaxing atmosphere and isn't a gambling environment.

A rainy day is full of excitement and drama!

If you are into excitement this is your treasure! Horse racing right here in the heart of the city! The sound of the hooves alone should get your heart racing as the horses' pound past you less the 50 meters away. The colour and the crowds will make this a day you will long remember. Pop a little bet on the horse that strikes your fancy and 'Lady Luck' may pay you a visit! Even if it's damp out there's lots of cover to watch the action.

Since I was the last person/only person left in his line, it was very clear that they meant to help me and then go on break. However, he packed an order in a bag for another customer and put the "closed" sign directly in front of me and walked away. I immediately questioned him and he told me to go to another line and someone will help me there. Expecting me to either budge in front of other customers or line up at the back of another line. It was extremely embarrassing, infuriating, and hurtful. No other cashier or server came to help me. Other customers were also surprised at what happened. I eventually spoke to one other cashier who ended up helping me immediately. But what a horrible and humiliating experience. Other customers came up to me afterwards to let me know that what happened was absolutely awful, which is very kind of them but it does not change my experience.

We were trying to figure out what to do after lunchtime and I remembered that Axon was now open in Aberdeen Centre so we stopped by (reservations recommended). I have a Logitech/Playseat rig at home that's collected dust for the better part of 2 years but used to be more active with driving sims and racing games so I'm familiar with those systems and Assetto Corsa but it's my first time with something that simulates G-force. The friends that I came with have never really tried simulators at any level before so it was interesting to see how they fared. We all found the simulators to be quite intuitive, they gave us an orientation on a Porsche Boxster which was easy to learn on and did exactly what we thought it would. We tried two more cars and tracks and left very impressed with the quality of the simulators. I really liked the social aspect of it and being able to talk smack on the provided headsets. For those who have only ever driven on the street and in traffic, you don't ever really get to feel the sensation of a car that's about to lose control. This is a safe way to feel the sensation of steering getting light, understeer, and weight transfer when the car is upset. The best part was that all 4 of us left feeling like better drivers and were significantly more confident with limit handling. All of the equipment is considerably more expensive and state of the art compared to the arcade racing games we grew up playing so don't expect to be paying $1 for 5 minutes of Daytona USA. I think the era of those low quality arcade racing games is over as your average smartphone racing game is already way beyond that level of entertainment. Pricing-wise I feel that it's geared towards your more serious driving enthusiast rather than your casual gamer. I liken it to just having a treadmill and some dumbbells at home to actually investing in a personal trainer. There is value to your investment but understandably not all can justify the commitment. I think more options for drop-in/casual participants will help expand Axon's niche market as a $65-120 monthly commitment is a considerable expense (certainly more than my rarely used gym membership :P ). The simulators here are a lot more sophisticated and actually valuable for more serious driver training. As someone who's participated in a lot of track days at various race tracks, I left Axon feeling like I still had a lot to learn. There is an element of fear that you simply can't overcome in a real car which will always hold you back from reaching their actual limit, but high quality simulators like these give you a risk-free way of experiencing that limit (and beyond as indicated by the number of spin outs I had in the short time I was at Axon).

We had some pre-teen girls so was nervous about letting them try since some racers were gunning it! If they had a family race that would be perfect! We tried their laser tag and mini golf! We booked both those things on the day of, they had a lot of availability. However, if you decide to go for their go-karting, I would recommend booking in advance as it was very full and busy. Their laser tag was so fun!! The area was huge and could accommodate upto 20-30 people!! It was just the 6 of us so the space was too large but nonetheless we had a great time. Each laser tag round is 20mins and we played 2 rounds. The staff were very nice and guided us through it all. Their mini golf was located right by the go-karting arena, it was pretty small and I think it was meant to be a passtime for people while they wait. We had fun though, some of their courses were pretty difficult. I would definitely come back for their laser tag with a bigger group and also try their new go-karting arena!!

The inside is nice and clean, but quite dated, with the old school coin-op arcade machines. Staff are somewhat helpful, but you have to approach them if you need something. Otherwise they're just hiding behind the computers. The karts they have now (2014) are noticeably faster than those several years ago. According to the instruction video, these things top out at 70 km/h. Add the smooth concrete track, and it's actually quite easy to spin out. How much faster? I actually got carsick driving these things. Did not know this was possible when one is the operator of the vehicle. To save $2, bring your own DOT-approved helmet. Even though they give you a liner, their helmets are freaking DISGUSTING. You can smell them as you enter the helmet room. A good lap time here would be 29s or less. For a beginner or amateur, you'd be looking at 31s or so. There are some regulars here who eat the newbies for breakfast. You'll notice who they are when you start getting lapped. Races are a bit pricey at $35 for 4 heats (10 laps), but this is more than enough to get your karting fix.
