I recommend the games but the restaurant really needs to step up. We came on a Saturday at noon and there was us and another table. We got the Corn Ribs, Lettuce Wraps (sub crispy tofu that hey use in the crispy tofu bowl), and truffle fries. The corn ribs were delicious but it stops there. The lettuce "wraps" was a wedge of lettuce (see pic). They did not use the crispy tofu and the amount of puffed rice was too much. We removed half of it in the pic! The fries were soggy and barely warm. It was not good. I feel like they are hit and miss at the restaurant. read more

Fun place for something to do in downtown! There's a restaurant on the main floor, arcade games upstairs, and mini golf in the basement. I went on a Saturday at 5 PM and there were lots of kids there. It's a different vibe if you go late at night. They also have lots of promos for certain days of the week that make it a better deal. We were invited to the bottom floor for a private event, and couldn't have been happier with our evening. The bottom floor is huge with a 9 hole mini putt that was very fun, with in our case a few prizes to win. It was a work event for the lovely K, so there was some schmoozing involved for her. The food offering was very good as well, with a good variety of nibbles available, that were well presented and looked like some care had been taken. As it was a private event I can't talk to the regular offerings on the other two floors, but I can say that we for sure would attend if invited again. read more

The Rec Room (entertainment centre) opened today in downtown Vancouver. Metro Vancouver was first introduced to The Rec Room via it's first opening at The Amazing Brentwood Mall, in Burnaby. Located on the Granville Mall, this particular area has been crying out for years to come alive & into the 21st Century or rather how about just 2024!?! What do I mean - Vancouver gets constantly called out for how dull it is downtown - not enough Nite life & late night eating spots. Back in the heyday ala 70s & 80s including somewhat into the early 90s, the Granville Mall was the place to be & be seen. Nite clubs, restaurants, bowling, arcades, etcetera all made downtown funky & the place to be. Then after the mid 90s, it went all quiet, sleepy & absolutely boring. Kudos to the Rec Room for wanting to 'liven' up the downtown core. The Rec Room is comprised of three levels & is bright & colourful in decor. Come here for the games, live music, bowling, virtual reality, pool tables, eats + drinks, & to escape from work, especially if work is downtown for you. Great for groups (private party rooms available), couples & families. Keep in mind that the Granville Mall itself tends to attract a Hastings St (downtown eastside) type of crowd - so be aware of your surroundings when walking here along the mall. You will definitely want to leave the car at home - take transit or uber to get here. Bring lots of cash as it's pricey. read more

I went to the Rec Room and had a really great time at their venue. My colleagues and I were impressed with the food that we got, and enjoyed the games that they offered. The ax throwing was a difficult, but still a lot of fun. I also enjoyed the football, basketball, and skee-ball games. Unfortunately, my mood changed when I went to the Trophy Case (prize redemption area). I won't go into too much detail, but the staff member there clearly did not want to be there and provided little to no customer service. Due to the poor reception that I received, I emailed Rec Room and was very happy with how their Senior Service Manager handled my complaint. They were both empathetic and understanding of why I was unhappy with my experience. Due to the Manager's response, I am willing to try going to this location again. Additionally, I previously would have rated this location with only 2 stars (due to the incident that I had at the Trophy Case), but have decided to give them 3 stars instead. read more

Had a fun time here for an adult birthday party! Lots of fun arcade games, outstanding corn dog at the snack bar upstairs. The restaurant food was okay, but not great. Fix that and this would be a fantastic place to spend an afternoon and have dinner too. Super nice staff in the restaurant and in other departments as well - we had really great service! A special thank you to Jacinth and others who were SO helpful in finding a lost wallet!! Staffing is where this location really shines and they deserve the five stars for that reason alone. read more

The good: -It's shiny and new -Ax throwing is fun and well priced -Cocktails are decent (but overpriced) -Customer service is good The okay: -Food, it's just basic food service quality with embellishments (like no one had meals that were anything better than university cafeteria food) -Games, pricey and not that fun, this is step down from Brentwood -Darts, not quite as fun as real darts The bad: -Coat check is a joke, one line to drop and and retrieval is a disaster (but makes it look super busy from outside!) -No water fountains or water taps, like seriously? -Wait time for food, way too long and the food was cold -It's already too small, everything had a wait and the walkways were packed (on a school night!) The Rec Room Granville was such a cool place to hang out. I went there with someone and immediately noticed how many teenagers were enjoying themselves. The atmosphere was electric with music lights and laughter filling the space. Teenagers would love how energetic and social it feels because it is a place where you can play eat and relax all in one visit. The service was fast and helpful especially at the game counters and food stations. The value was solid because you get a lot of entertainment for what you pay and there are fun combo deals. The quality of the games and food was high and everything felt clean and well maintained. The selection of games was huge with classic arcade favorites new interactive experiences and plenty of variety for different interests. I only visited once before writing this review but I would definitely go back. Teenagers would love it because it is playful social and full of energy. read more

Rec Room Granville - A Merry Christmas time for the family with great food service staff and games. And coals for the security guard. Good - Server staff and manager were fantastic and made for a family-friendly experience and the games were great fun. Food service manager was fantastic who came to welcome us at the table and asked us how everything was going. She even recognized us from Brentwood and asked for feedback on how to make the experience even better. The server was terrific to answer our questions and was very friendly wishing my family a happy holidays and new year when she ended her shift. Good to see this place open after a long construction period and from the former Famous Players site to become another family-friendly entertainment place. Hope it boosts up the Granville Street. Could have been great... ... Not good - A security guard needs retraining in customer service skills (helps to have a positive body language as the first point of contact), to remain professional, to discern if a customer is unhappy vs an actual security issue, not take things personally/"power trip", gain critical thinking skills, de-escalation skills, be more well-read on policies, and use better judgment. On exit, even looked very clenched up.
