Absolute garbage customer service. I called to make a group booking. I spoke to Misaki(?), who was extremely unprofessional with her attitude, saying stuff like "these are some rules.. yada yada yada". Extremely unpleasant tone. I asked to speak with a supervisor. Was transferred to Drea(?). I asked if she was the supervisor and she said, "kind of? yeah i was sort of made a supervisor at our team meeting last week, so I guess so? So, what do you want?" I asked if this was professional, the tone and attitude she was showing. She said in a defensive tone, "what? I'm trying to help you and you won't let me help you, so how can I help you?" She continued being defensive and talked over me when I tried explaining Misaki's attitude to her, so I hung up. Absolutely unprofessional. Will not be taking our camps here. Management needs to hire more suitable staff. read more

Classic old school (1970s?) bowling alley. Not too many of these around town. Cue the Big Lebowski references. Parking is available on the side streets. The place hasn't been renovated in decades. It's like stepping into a time machine. The main floor lanes are the usual 10-pin, while the upstairs level is cosmic (black light everywhere) 5-pin. There are 12 lanes on each floor. Each lane can support up to 5 players. They do sell drinks (including beer) as well as snacks such as hot dogs and chips. The venue can get a bit cramped when the space fills up. Something to keep in mind. read more

Fun! Great bowling alley. Staff was awesome, friendly & helpful. We'll be back for sure. read more

Came here for the Date Night Tuesday bowling promo ($25 for a couple for an hour of bowling, shoe rentals included). This bowling alley has retained its original charm - if you're into the vintage look. At least the music is current! 5 or 10 pin bowling available (only 3 lanes of 10 pin on the first floor). Friendly staff. Place was busy, but not too packed, perhaps because it was a Tuesday night. No shortage of bowling balls of various weights. Super convenient location - within short walking distance to the Commercial Skytrain station. Free wifi available. read more

Came in and we had the entire floor. Had a blast! Lovely tiny blonde lady I think it was Veronica or Vanessa ? She was special and so helpful. She went above and beyond for our group. I've been there before and I have said the same before. Getting staff that care like can't be easy!! A shout out to all the staff that helped that day. Thanks for making the event great. read more

I called to make a reservation for bowling today. I was told over the phone that today is an unusual day and they are not taking reservations. However, the person over the phone told me that they are taking walk-ins until 6pm. My friends and I hurried over around 4pm. When we got there, the doors were locked and when we got the attention of an employee, they shook their head and mouthed that they were closed. This was extremely confusing because not 30 minutes before we were told that they were only taking walk-ins. It's really frustrating and feels like we were lied to for no reason. read more

Came here lastnight with my bf for bowling, they had a special on 3 games for $22 We ordered a Ginger ale, burger and chicken strips to share which were pretty decent. The glow in the dark bowling is wicked cool and the Halloween music they played gave it a nice touch! We had allot of fun here! This is the second time I've been and I'll definitely be back! The staff is pretty friendly and knowledgeable as well! Thanks ! read more

Great bowling... terrible food service. 45 min for chicken strips and a burger!? I had to wait 20 min after my game to get my shit food to go. Booooo read more

This place is an utter joke. Called Twice to confirm booking and reservation no warning or heads up that restaurant and bar are closed. No communication between management and employees. Go up to play a single ball for two lanes kinda place that doesn't cater and prefers to lie to there clients don't usually leave reviews but steer clear of this dive definitely wont be impressed. Special thanks too grand view lanes and manager (Tamy) for leaving our party of twelve in the rain. read more

A cool place to have some big lebowski type of reference evening. Haven't tried any of food or drinks, so nothing to say about it read more

Fun for families or groups! Great service from staff. Handy, on the Drive! They have 10 pin and 5 pin. A great part of the community!

I really enjoyed my time at Grandview Lanes. The staff were very kind. The inside is very nice. I highly recommened trying this place. We did reserve a spot before we went. The price was very reasonable and it was worth it! read more

Really a great place to bowl. They appear to have a strong following of regulars and had a surprisingly family friendly atmosphere despite the unwelcoming look of the buildings exterior. As far as bowling lanes go Vancouver has few to speak of. The only other off the top of my head is The Commodore and I'd say the bowling experience here was absolutely superior. Regular rates are reasonable but a few days a week have special rates that you should be sure to check out if it's your first time. A great time with good company is to be had at Grandview Lanes. read more

This is a family-run, old-fashioned bowling alley. They've been in business since the 40s, and the decor probably hasn't changed all that much - and I do mean that in a good way. It's retro, but it's authentic retro. Downstairs, where you enter, there's ye olde snack bar and a big board of all the league players. Upstairs is the glow bowling, which costs just a bit more per game, but it's fun for parties. I'm a sucky bowler, so somehow doing it in the dark with music makes it more fun. Most of the lanes here are five-pin, which I hear is a strange concept to Americans. It's a lot easier to throw the ball in a five-pin game, if a bit harder to knock down the pins. All in all, good clean fun to be had at Grandview. read more

From the warm and worn feeling those silver rental shoes give you to the team name selections on the retro screens - you have to love it here! On my last visit, for a charity fundraiser, I was "turkey" while my teammates went by Sparrow-Eagle-Loon-BlueJay. Oh good fun! If you're ever wanting to "spice it up" a bit, try "Crazy Bowling," Here are some fun rules which work well for 5 pin: Frame 1: Bowl with your "Other" hand Frame 2: Sit on the floor and bowl between your legs Frame 3: Stand and bowl between your legs Frame 4: Spin around 3 times and bowl Frame 5: Bowl backwards Frame 6: Hold hands with someone in the land next to you and bowl Frame 7: Close your eyes and bowl Frame 8: Bowl on your knees Frame 9: Bowl from the back of the lane Frame 10: Line up all of your fellow bowlers and bowl through their legs read more

They have 5 or 10 pin bowling and glow in the dark bowling upstairs. Reservations are highly recommended. This place is dated and old school so don't expect a modern bowling experience if coming here. Think 80's 90's bowling alley. The floor is SUPER slippery. I couldn't find a ball smaller than a size 8. read more

I'll give this place 3.5 stars. It's a great neighbourhood bowling lane, with the exception that they only have beer in cans, there is no food available on site and it's five-pin bowling. There are some lanes with ten-pin bowling but often they are taken, so if you are planning on going bowling, reserve ahead of time and show up early. This place fills up by 8pm every night. read more

An overall unenjoyable experience thanks to a number of issues. The place really needs to update the place to justify charging what they are right now. It was extremely difficult to have an actual game as the scoreboard consistently messed up. Added to that, balls were randomly firing backwards from the ramp, into where people were standing. Members of staff were rude and need refreshing on customer service basics. Put on a 5 pin game despite requesting 10 pin on two occasions. No mention of this when setting us up and paying. read more

Host to many wandering day camps, high school gym classes, and children's birthday parties, Grandview Lanes is still home to a vast array of bowlers who prefer the less strenuous lighter balls. While most of the lanes are set up for 5 pins, there are a couple of lanes available for the 10 pin purists out there. One thing for certain is that everybody of age can enjoy the $5 hotdog and beer combo, and those looking for watered down excitement can try their neon lit hand at disco bowling, located upstairs. Ask the front desk about changing the radio station to Motown though, they are willing. read more

Most important thing...call to reserve for both regular lanes and the Black light Glow Lanes upstairs. Remember to check-in on Yelp and you get a free game with purchase of a game. Children have free show rental so it's awesome for families with little people. I highly recommend 5 pin bowling as you don't have to worry about which bowling ball you need to bowl with...but no more chipped nails for me! read more

Grandview Lanes is a nice and very old school place to have some fun with pins and balls. So far so good, everyone was friendly, it was clean, it wasn't really expensive, we had some fun there and that's all what it needs I think. I liked the feeling of being in sort of a time-machine or time capsule that brings you back into the 60s/70s, including the music ;) read more

Took my kid to have an afternoon of bowling at Grandview Lanes a place I have gone to many times over many years. Our lane kept requiring attention to reset or put up the pins. Every time we had to go down to get help. The staff blamed the computer but it got to be that we could not have a turn at all. No help was offered, no free lane just up and down to the point that we asked for our money back. The manager was quite rude and direct and clearly did not care that this was our experience. He muttered under his breathe and joked with a guy about he would rather be in Vegas. This community hub sure has changed, Thankfully there are other places we can go to and we booked for tomorrow to try again in Burnaby. read more

Awesome lanes If you're into five pins. Found out they aren't oiled properly for 10 pins.

Glow bowling and beer! Glow bowling and cider! GLOW BOWLING, period! My boyfriend and I like to tell people that we met while bowling, which is a lie, but speaks to the charm of Grandview Lanes. I'm not sure that it's ever really been renovated in the multiple decades that it's been open, but this only legitimatizes the bowling experience. The kitsch at this particular establishment? It's bona fide, y'all. Five or ten pin, beer or cider (or WINE, even), rented shoes and bottomless coffee, toast and jam or pizza, burgers or hot dogs -- Grandview Lanes is a party just waiting for you. read more

Service is terrible and rude! If you're going to work in a customer service position for minimum wage: Get off your high horse and pop your head out of your ass! I made a booking with these people dimwits for the group of little rugrats to bowl a game and we had to change our booking last month. The ignorant person receiving my rebook messed up and didn't make the change in their book. Today, 17 unhappy little rugrats felt disappointed by this stupid error by Grandview Lanes part. Never again will we nor I be supporting this unorganized local organization. This is not the first time we we're mistakenly not pencilled in your reservation book. Go bowl somewhere else! read more

It was a real shit show. Poor customer service and outdated facility made our first visit at this place very unpleasant. The caucasian lady with glasses at the front desk could definitely use some help from customer service professionals. I understand these services are expensive but maybe groupon? lol I strongly encourage everyone to go somewhere else. read more

Five stars, baby. Five stars. What makes this a Five-Star experience you ask? It's a bowling alley, basically. But really, it's centrally located, they ACTUALLY HAVE TEN PIN, they serve booze and the lady who runs the place is ten-thousand kinds of awesome - super helpful and funny as heck. Downstairs is your standard "normal person" bowling, where upstairs is where dreams come true. And by that I mean it's blacklight bowling with cheesy, awesome mural art. Unfortunately I think upstairs is only five pin, but you can still have a glowing good time. If this place ever goes out of business I might throw myself off of the roof in protest. read more

So the photos on yelp show the cosmic bowling... which I didn't even know happened! AWESOME! Went there on a random Thursday night with a couple friends after a couple drinks at Falconetti's. The place is open fairly late for a bowling alley. And the decor is like stepping back to 1974 or something authentically retro. Even the TVs and scoring systems are vintage. They serve beer and cider... even more awesome/hipster. Staff was courteous and let us play one game even though they were closing in 30 minutes. This is a great little activity to do if you're wandering around the Drive. And next time, I'm going to beat you. Yeah, that's right, I'm talking to you Dave! read more

Am not much of a bowler (last time was in highschool), but still had fun at Glow Bowling! Pricing is reasonable at $5.25 per person per game. And psssst, there is a Yelp check-in offer for one free game if you purchase a second. Oh, and wear white. A couple of things in customer service that held back the stars: - The front counter lady that helped us (not the owner/manager Tammy) had a real serious stern face the whole time. Not a peep of a smile. Also was kind of impatient when explaining the pricing and confirming our Yelp check-in offers. Bowling is happy; she wasn't happy. Kind of a no-no when you're providing customer service. - We didn't want the guard rails up and asked someone at the front counter to take it down. (At this point, we didn't know this can be done really easily next to the lane, lol, like I say, we're not bowlers!) No one came up and we just carried on. An hour later, when we're 1 turn away from finishing our last game, an employee came by and said hey, you guys aren't twelve-year-olds, I'll take down the guard rails now. Thankfully no one had a gutter ball for that last turn. read more

It's a time warp!!! Travel back in time to a place when birthday parties and slapstick bracelets were the highlight of your year - yeah, those were good times. And the best birthday parties were always thrown at the local bowling alley! Grandview Lanes is no exception, as it seems they've kept their old-school charm, making people like me instantaneously turn into our 10-year-old selves - our 10-year-old selves who freakin' love seing lint glow in the dark. This is no ordinary bowling alley, it's an alley that GLOWS! As many other reviewers have shown, GLOWING THINGS MAKE OUR HEARTS FEEL ALL WARM N' FUZZY N' STUFF. But be warned, in order to feel the magic of the glow, you must frolic in the realm of 5-pin bowling - ya can't get more Canadian than that. Yes, every pin in 5-pin bowling taunts a bit harder and the balls are often mistaken for baby dinosaur eggs but what better way to feel like the strongest person on earth with huge hand muscles and the precision of a first-place-bow-hunting-hawk?! Yeah. 5-pin bowling. Plus, between turns you can count all the lint on people's clothes and sulk about the non-glowiness of your apparently non-white teeth. Don't lie. We've all done that. Make this your next bday destination! Or your next "it's Monday" destination. Or your next "I cut my nails" destination. Heck, just go there. read more

It's old, it's kinda crusty and it's fun as hell! Downstairs there's the regular bowling alley and upstairs has the glow bowling for ya. Super friendly staff with the usual bowling food fare. Adult beverages available for the 'big kids' too. Overall... SO MUCH FUN!!!! read more

First floor was all taken on a Friday night by what seemed to be a Chinese middle-aged league. Our reservation was upstairs, with the black lights. I wonder who started the black light bowling thing? Anyways, they honoured my Yelp Check-In Offer (1 free game worth $5). We had a few hiccups (people were already in the lane we were told to use; the lane we were told to use instead had another party's names on the screen; they got our names on the next lane; they actually needed a few lanes together for another booking, so they moved us to another lane in the middle of a game; the pin-setting machine froze a few times), but each problem was resolved in two minutes by friendly staff, so we are willing to give them another try. All the lanes I saw (upstairs and down) were five-pin. read more

Nothing says fun quite like glow bowling. GLOW BOWLING people. I love the crazy murals on the wall that look like you're being sucked through a vortex into another dimension. And that dimension would also have glow bowling because it's rad. Yes yes they also have normal 5 pin and 10 pin. Snore! Staff is great! Lets think about the different groups these people need to humour and please all at the same time. Families. Adorable oldies. Serious leaguers. Drunk hip kids. They obviously rule. The last time I went I had a groupon and they were more than happy to accomodate. The groupon also came with a $10 food voucher... yes they have pizza and nachos and so on.... but $10 buys a lot of chips. The prices are reasonable but the three game special is definitely the economical choice. Think of all the beers you could drink with your savings. GLOW BOWLING! read more

Man it was hot in there. Did anyone else notice the old skool ceiling fan(s?) on the ceiling that weren't turned on? I couldn't see a cord or a switch for them anywhere. This was a great event, thanks for organizing the meet-up Crystal! Lots of fun, and I even remembered some names! read more

We had a LOT of fun bowling with our old friends this winter. This is really a neighbourhood hot spot. PLEASE NOTE: They are remodeling at this time. Was a great evening, where to start? Excellent venue- I love that you can rent out the entire upstairs area. Of course bowling in the 21st century is a crazy experience of black lights and martian landscapes. Of course... Pizza- Uncle Fatih's delivered so many great varieties of pizza. It was dark, so I'm not sure what toppings I tried, but they were good! Yelping Fun- Great people and a lot of good times. Thanks Crystal. See you all at the next event :) read more

All these yelpers at the meet-up and no reviews yet?? First of all, huge kudos to Crystal for planning and organizing! LOL, they really should include weather forecaster in your job description :) Location was easy to get to and it was well organized from the food (Uncle Fatih's pizza) to the games. It was awesome that the staff kept refilling the water pitchers upstairs. We were supposed to stay inside but staff were nice about letting us go outside in the bowling shoes because it was so hot. That's the only negative about the place - I wish they had fans going or AC... it was like an oven in there which took away from things a bit, but otherwise it was fun! Nice to meet everyone and no bribery allowed with the bowling pics :) read more
