Update: I really like the offseason "refreshes". The facility still has the hometown feel, yet tidied up a bit. The bleachers have enough room that you do not feed crammed in. Its great family entertainment, reasonably priced. The food is "fine", what you kind expect from a local track. Top tip: Its a dirt track, you will get dirty. I have been to Skagit Speedway twice for the sprint car races since moving to Washington and I love it! The track is old, I think its been around since the 1950's, but it's in good condition. And the age gives it character and makes it even more enjoyable. The tickets are cheap, and parking is free which is really nice. Food is reasonably priced and its your typical race track food. I like that there is a family section that is smoke an alcohol free if you bring your kids. And for the adults there is a beer garden and a beer cart at the bottom of the bleachers in turn 4, so you don't have to go to far to get a refill. The racing is good, and the atmosphere is wholesome and welcoming. I can't wait to come back next season for more racing! read more

I had never been to anything like this before, but I seriously had such a fun time. The dirt track is shared by Americans and Canadians and both national anthems are sung at the beginning. There were sections A-G, but only the first was non-smoking. Entry fee for the races is $16 a person. The seats are a mix of backless wooden bleachers and a grassy hill you can lay down on. Bring bleacher pads, your tail bone will thank you. It gets pretty cold once the sun goes down so blankets are also good for kids. Also, ear protection is a MUST. It gets so loud when the cars race by you at 120mph. There were three types of cars that raced. The first type had huge wings on top to hold the car down as they sped around the third-mile track in 10-12 seconds. They were tiny and made soooo much noise. The second was a modified car that looked something like the batmobile. Those did the third-mile track in 14-16 seconds. Once again, very loud. Those ones kicked up mud onto the walls of the track. The last type was different stock cars: old Volkswagens and Hondas from the 90's with no windows and beefy roll cages inside. Those were much slower, but exciting when they collide! In all there were like 3 bad wrecks, cars rolling sideways and such. The drivers were alright in each case. There were tow trucks, medics, and firemen on site to help out. In most of the big races less than half of the original cars finished the races: either the engines started smoking, the cars died, or they were beat up. One of the cars, driven by a SEVENTY SEVEN year-old man crashed into the wall and a tow truck had to work for ten minutes to get the bumper out of the wall. What a rush!! I want more! read more

Check dirt racing off my list. I guess it's what people in the PNW do on a Saturday night for fun. Tickets are $16 for adults and $12 for kids. If you are bring more then 2 kids..best to get the family pass for $48( 2 adults and up to 4 kids admissions). Food is what you find at a movie theater. You can't bring in food cause they want you to spend $11 for a pretzel and a soda. It's not cheap nor is it good. Probably would have like the experience more if the food was better or if you get more options in the "beer garden." I don't particularly like water down beer(Budweiser)...give me some premium beer options or wine. Doesn't matter since I don't think I'll ever go back. The only highlight was the announcer..he was at least entertaining. read more

First trip to the Skagit Speedway! We came on Monster Truck night, the place was packed! They have a large field where they park you. But, at least this time, they were parking cars 6 deep, cutting off roads, having cars cram into left over spots. It was ridicuous. They races are pretty good for a small town venue. They spent a lot of the time with locals driving over there course for a time trial. About a third of the time was the monster trucks. All the kids around us seemed to enjoy it. It was okay. We will not make the drive to attend another race though. And here's the clincher........with the way they parked everybody, it was a cluster *&$^ to get out of there. Took over an hour and that was after the police arrived to sort it all out. Pros and cons, but I definitely think everyone needs to experience a small dirt track experience at least once. read more

This was everything is hoped it would be and more! Snack bar food, check. Beer garden, check. Sprint car racing, check. People watching, check. A mascot with a t shirt gun, check. Dirt? CHECK! My boyfriend grew up coming to races here and what better way to mark his 25th year than by dragging his prissy girlfriend along? When he told me to wear goggles and expect to have muddy boogers and dirt in my mouth he wasn't kidding. As someone who normally prefers to watch sports from the comforts of sectional sofas and pillow top beds, I had a total blast. Each time the cars whipped around, so did the dirt. But it was exhilarating and entertaining. I clenched my teeth and fists, I witnessed crashes and I almost caught a free t shirt from that gun. All in all it was a great day. Good thing I had fun too, as I have tickets for tomorrows races as well! Suggestion: get the French fries. They've got some crispy batter thing going on that makes them extra tasty. Skagit Speedway is the heart of Sprint Car Racing in the pacific Northwest. If you are interested in watching sprint cars of all classes compete in weekly shows, this is a good place to do it. The setting is remote and watching the sun go down about halfway through the racing is usually a great experience. They have complete concessions and souvenirs and even allow those so inclined to camp out overnight. The crowd is a great mix of hardcore racers and casual fans. Be prepared to get dirt in your teeth, ears, eyes, and hair....as the dust swirls up from the track and coats everything in its way....savvy fans bring eye their eye goggles just in case. read more

We used to love coming when it was more family friendly, but ever since they stopped enforcing no smoking in the family section it has kept us away. Both my kids and my pregnant sister in law being stuck sucking down second hand smoke is just so frustrating. We tried going recently and people are even openly smoking pot....in the FAMILY section. If you like racing, relaxing, and having a good time, this is the place for you! My friend has been coming here since he was a kid and finally convinced me to come up for the weekend. The track is a few miles out so I wasn't sure what to expect. Walking in, you can feel the excitement in the atmosphere and from the staff who seemed to all have a smile on their face. The beer garden, concessions, kick-ass racing and dirt make this an experience everyone should have. This venue is BEAUTIFUL! Watching the sun set behind the track while the cars race around was awesome. I have and will continue to recommend Skagit Speedway to all of my friends and family. I will be coming back! read more

Cannot recommend . I have been going to Skagit Speedway since the early 1980's. the last 10 + yrs have been a steady decline. The facilities from the stands to the rest rooms are in serious need of attention, Open wheel car counts have declined over the years. The focus seems to be more on selling concessions & beer over racing. read more

If you enjoy dirt track racing, this is the place to go. Ticket prices are reasonable. Parking is free. Yes, you will get some dirt on you, but that's dirt track racing! Bring goggle glasses, wear a hat, and you'll be fine. They run both 410s and 360s at Skagit Speedway. The races are staged very efficiently so there is not a lot of waiting between races. The annual Dirt Cup and Outlaw races are the highlight of the annual racing schedule. We sat in Section A, to the north. It is a family section with no smoking or alcohol, a real family atmosphere. I would rather not sit in several of the other sections. read more

Low car count caused by management telling racers and fans if they don't like something then go somewhere else. Food is way overpriced and disgusting,the sprinter burger is named that cuz it makes you sprint directly to the dirty crapper to puke or crap out the horrible thing. Place is almost always dirty,restrooms never have toilet paper and are always dirty,grandstands are always full of garbage and parking lot is full of garbage and outhouses are always overfull. This place used to be a fantastic place to take the family and watch races but in recent years greed has taken over and it has gone downhill fast! Management called off both playdays last year and had at least 2 regular season rainouts when it wasn't raining and never did rain but they called a rainout because the forecast was for rain,I guess they never heard of weather guessers that are wrong but it was a waste of money to anyone with season tickets. About the only thing still good about the place is the fireworks show,but even the fireworks show they charge extra $ for,as I said before greed has taken over! read more

Great sprint car racing. Went to Dirt Cup in June and it was the best 3 days of racing I have seen. It is a must see. I will be at the huge fireworks show in July, I hear it is the biggest one around The cars are very fast and everyone is having a fun time. Kid friendly. My friend told me about this place so I figured, why not? After buying our tickets we were greeted with a rude, old hag who asked us if we had our "stamps" multiple times. Having never been there I had no clue to what she was referring. She continued to be rude and practically spit in our faces til we understood what she was saying. I have a disorder which requires the aid of a service animal. The people at the front had no problem with me bringing her in and didn't question it in the slightest. When I entered the concession stand, though, there was an extremely rude woman with a mullet who was immediately trying to make me leave. "You can't have that dog in here for health reasons." I explained that the dog was my service animal and she continued to prompt me for my "service animal card." I don't know if many people are aware, but the laws of Washington do not require that you carry any identification or proof that your service animal is, in fact, a service animal. I told the woman the law and she proceeded to let me know that she "also" knew the law. Well clearly the rude woman did not know the law. What's sad is the dog wasn't even on the ground so there was no health risk. Judging from what I smelled, and saw, their own food was a health risk in itself. I would've given the place one star but when I explained my story to the woman in charge she refunded me my money. She was very polite and understanding of how upsetting the whole situation was for me. Other than that, the whole place was very backwoods. I won't be returning. read more
