Came for afternoon tea for my dear friend's belated birthday. It's such an adorable satur-date idea... small bites in a cute upscale dining room. We were greeted with a glass of pink Prosecco with a cherry. Delicious. Next was tea- I chose the English breakfast. It was lovely. The tower of delights was so nice- everything was fresh and presented well. Whenever our server came by, he seemed pressured or rushed. It did appear as though he was juggling a lot of tables. I wonder if they were short staffed today. Needless to say we adored our visit, and we discussed making this an annual tradition.

Exceptional food. Fresh produce. Lovely posh atmosphere. Best sunday high tea in edmonton. I have been going to the fairmont for decades. Its iconic and a must see in edmonton. Every stop here should include a visit at the harvest room. I find the food to be exceptional and really fresh with local flavours of alberta. From local game, to fresh fish or great steaks. I love how the menu ussually changes depending on the season, but mostly it's the vegtables and sides which change and not the main. I've never been disappointed with the beef tenderloin, but recently I had the black cod and it was delightful and has become my new favourite! The toffee pudding is a must order and I honestly am in pure bliss every time I order it! Honestly it's the best dessert on the menu and I've tried them all! My favourite time to come here is for the high tea on weekends. It's so awesome, especially the nutcracker high tea. The decorations are awesome and are so festive. The high tea has good portions and a large variety. I always have leftovers. Not once have I been able to finish it. Only gripe is the service is hit or miss. Sometimes its outstanding, sometimes its awful. When ure paying these prices, you expect stellar service everytime, but it's just not the case. But it never makes me not come here. Tip: theres a Yelp check in offer on mondays and visit the outdoor patio in the summer for outstanding views of the river valley!

The Harvest Room is a very beautiful and fancy restaurant at the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald, located near Jasper Avenue in Edmonton, AB. The restaurant serves perfectly cooked and well seasoned dishes made with local products. The food is absolutely delicious. My wife and I have had the opportunity to eat dinner there on a few occasions, and had brunch one time. The brunch menu was varied; scrambled eggs with bacon and sausage, to name a few items, and included a good amount of breakfast type pastries, such as croissants, which were so amazing (I swore I could have been eating at a bakery in France), cheeses, breads and condiments. We had the brunch in December, so the beautiful Christmas decorations were up, as well as a life size gingerbread house!! The lunch and dinner go along with the seasons, and a wide variety of appetizers, entrees and desserts are served. The meat dishes are so good - bison and beef tenderloin are among the dishes I have eaten. The service at the Harvest Room is always impeccable and excellent, professional and very polite!! The view is quite enjoyable as well - out the window you are able to look at the North Saskatchewan River Valley and south side of Edmonton.

I took my partner here for his birthday and they were so good to us. He has never been to High Tea before and they made it such a nice experience for him. We both went with the Garden Party and Mimosas to drink. I've had Garden Party before at the Empress I believe so it was delicious as always. They also accommodated my vegetarian diet and made my a separate three layers that were meat-free! That was so nice of them as I was expecting to have to pick out the meat and I didn't have to do anything! The best part of our tea was our server Nathalie who was in high spirits and so happy to see my partner having fun and it was so cute. They also brought us a Happy Birthday Tiramisu which was very adorable and appreciated even though we were stuffed! Thanks Harvest Room!

This was my first time trying high tea in the harvest room at the Fairmont. We came here for a friend's birthday and my friend's fiancee made a reservation about one week prior. For high tea on Saturdays, the service usually begins at about 230 pm and they ask guests not to be late. It's also probably a good idea to dress up as it's a pretty fancy affair! First off parking in downtown is always a nightmare but I highly recommend parking in the library parade. It's only a 2 minute walk and they charged me one dollar for 3 hours, which was the perfect amount of time we needed to enjoy tea, take lots of pictures and to get a tour of the Fairmont. I wouldn't recommend coming in starving, as they only serve tea, a selection of scones and then bring you a tower that includes an assortment of finger sandwiches and an assortment of desserts. Each person gets to sample one of each. Our group was happily satiated and enjoyed trying the teas and the variety of finger food. My favorites were the scones, which melted in my mouth, and the egg brioche, as well as the Madeline and Nanaimo bar cheesecake! I also enjoyed trying the teas, my favorite being the green tea they provided me. For five of us, the bill came to about 260 dollars, not including gratuity. It's definitely a pricier affair and moreso meant for special occasions. It's definitely something I'd try once in a while not something I'd frequent. They also provided a free tour with your high tea, where we saw a couple of different rooms and their most luxurious suite which has housed the queen and snoop dog. It wasn't anything spectacular but if that is something that interests you, they include it for all high tea participants. Overall I'd say it was a rather enjoyable experience only because my group does enjoy dressing up and going out for fancy tea and finger food but I have to admit that it was quite pricey! I'd recommend this if you're into high tea and don't mind paying a bit extra. I would probably try high tea at another Fairmont, perhaps in Banff, in the future.

Beautiful dining area with high ceiling in the historic fairmont hotel built in 1915. I came for date night with the husband. Our server was attentive and on point. When we said we'd like to take a walk in the gardens, he suggested we go soon before it gets dark for a better view and that he would hold off the plates till we get back if we'd like. How considerate! We ordered the following: Appetizer - Lobster bisque was presented slightly different with the bisque being poured into the seafood when it was served at the table. There was a fair amount of lobster meat in the bisque. Flavour wise however was slightly lacking for my tastebuds, I probably won't order it again. On the other hand, the Beef tartare served with avocado mousse was excellent. For mains, both the dill crusted salmon and the beef tenderloin were delicious. The beef was served with sweet potato, some greens and bone marrow. The beef was really good and very tender while the bone marrow was mediocre. Dessert - The texture of the pavlova was too dense for my liking and our server immediately offered to switch it out for something else. We were offered sparkling wine while we waited for the next dessert. We ended up with the creme brûlée which was good. Overall, an enjoyable evening at the Harvest Room.

Went here for high tea - it is $25 per person on weekdays from monday to wednesday. On the weekends its more expensive. I loved the decor of this place and the plating of the high tea was fantastic - very picturesque! It was a lot of carbs with scones, mini sandwiches and biscuits along with your choice of the fairmont teas. I loved the whole experience of it. I am happy to have tried it out but its not going to be regular thing for me.

High tea. Yes they do that here, and it is an amazing experience not to be missed. Of all of my friends it seems I was the only one who had yet to try this midday English tradition held at the Fairmont Hotel McDonald. So they held pitty on me and we all went. It started at 230 sharp. We arrived five minutes early and had to wait 5 minutes at the door. At exactly 230 they quickly took our jackets and ushered in a long line of waiting patrons. Serves was streamlined throughout the entire serves so everyone was brought to their table promptly and efficiently. The tables were beautifully set and we each had a glass of refreshing sparkling wine waiting for us. Service began with the offering a decent selection of both loose leaf and specialty bagged teas. Being a lover of all things caffeinated I went with the loose leaf Earl Grey. It smooth and creamy and fragrant. We were also brought a small aperitif of citrus sorbet with tiny pomegranate pearls. It's a nice way to refresh the pallet. Next came the scones. We were offered two types. A traditional plain scone and a chocolate chip. With creme fresh and a mixed berry compote. The creme fresh was made with Devonshire creme combined with the compote was so amazingly yummy. I found that the plain scone allowed these sides to shine. Of coarse it's not exactly a plain scone. It was warm and flaky and oh so buttery. What more could a gal ask for. Oh and FYI, don't feel pressured to eat everything because they have take home boxes if you can't finish. Although it listening to your stomach at this place is definitely not so easy. Next came the three tier plating of finger sandwiches and dessert. There was four very different and distinct type of finger sandwiches to munch on. My favorite was the chicken caprese. Which was a curry chicken salad with raisins served on ciabbata bread. There was also an egg salad, roasted grape and cream cheese, and a roast beef with horseradish served on a wee pretzels bun. Yum. After sandwiches it was hard to imagine stuffing my face with more so I packed up the remainder for later. But I can assure you that by the end of the night my take home box was empty. Nothing better then a box full of dessert for supper. Ha. The eggnog cannoli was definitely the stand out but if that's not your thing there is definitely more to choose from. We each were able to pack up a caramelized ginger shortbread cookie, a fruit cake medallion cookie, apple cider cheese cake square dipped in chocolate and served on a stick and and last but equally as tasty a cherry Kirsch tart. Holy Hanna I'm full just thinking about it all. And of course since the Hotel McDonald is over 100 years old they finish the meal off by taking the entire dining room on a quick tour of the hotel finishing in the Queen's suite for an extremely awesome photo opportunity. P.S. if you're interested, be sure to book your high tea reservation well in advance Happy dining.

Edmonton doesn't have many options for high tea, but if there's one tea service I'll recommend it's the Royal Tea hosted at The Harvest Room inside the historic Fairmont Hotel MacDonald. High ceilings and the traditional architecture in the dining room add to the experience of having traditional afternoon tea. Hosted every Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 PM, high tea comes with impeccable service and a gorgeous view overlooking Edmonton's river valley. Each guest gets their own teapot to steep one of the tea blends exclusive to the Fairmont hotels, and there is a lovely variety to choose from. After an hour of sipping tea and sharing bites, a tour of the historic hotel is offered to all guests at high tea. It's a great way to learn about this landmark in the city, and you can even visit the grand Queen Elizabeth II Suite (subject to availability). At At $39 (+ tax&tip) per person you can expect to have great food (the scones are my absolute favourite!) and even better service. It can be fun to indulge in a fancy tea service from time to time, especially when they have special themed menus. Reservations are required so make sure to book ahead of time!

Perfect location for a high tea! The harvest room decor and the views from the balcony are stunning! I went out for high tea often in England and I'm glad to have this gem in Edmonton. The selection of teas were great and the scones were absolute perfection! The tour of the hotel after the tea was interesting as well

I took my mom to the Royal Tea & Tour for her Birthday, and what an incredible experience it was! We started off with selecting our tea for the afternoon. My choice was the Ontario Ice Wine tea. It was so good I even purchased a tin to take home with me (mine was $18, I believe that is the average cost for all of them). We started off with some scones and then continued on to our platter tower of food, which included mini appetizers, sandwiches, and desserts. There was so much, we both ended up taking a "doggy bag" home. After our tea and snacks was over, we all met out front for a tour of Hotel MacDonald. We were able to see a couple of the rooms and went up to the 8th floor for a wicked view of the river valley. We then got to see the room where many people get to stay, including the Queen. We could not have asked for a better afternoon, and it was wonderful to learn the history surrounding Hotel MacDonald.

Tried the Harvest Room for dinner during downtown dining week after the rave reviews I had heard. I was really excited to see what they would showcase! The service was sub par. Took awhile for everyone to get drinks. The salmon was very well done and the second pork belly that was presented was all fat. The first one was tender and had quite a bit of meat on it. The sever never came to check in on us. At the very end as she was clearing the last plate I decided to finally say something about the food. The manager did however try to make up for the service and the below average food by providing us all with sparkling wine and an additional dessert plate of 3 macaroons (this is not at all what we intended on getting) We had already ordered coffee and were awaiting our dessert. Left feeling very disappointed.

We had a memorable date night at the Harvest Room. It overlooks the North Saskatchewan River Valley, giving us a gorgeous view during dinner. We loved the romantic setting, and the staff was super friendly and very knowledgeable in the food and wine they serve. We had the scallops for starters, and the Heritage Beef Tenderloin and Alberta Bison for mains.
