My second visit in 3 years. It was a quiet, romantic evening. We shared the green bean and tomato tartine for snacks. The charred broccoli and gnocchi dishes followed. The strip loin with black garlic sauce was to die for. We finushed with the chocolate ganache. We shared each dish as this is how they roll here. We drank "The Actress" mocktail in lieu of wine. (It's Sober October). The service is elegant and complete. We really like this place and we're not sure why we don't come here more often.

A lot has changed in downtown Edmonton in the 5 years since I was last here, sadly, not positively. Wandering around the now mostly shuttered downtown was a little gloomy... but then there was Bundok, and Edmonton has been redeemed. Yes, the parmigiano soup was JUST that magical. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Reservations are encouraged and can be made on their website via Open Table. I hesitate with restaurants that demand a credit card to hold a reservation, but seeing that there were plenty of windows of time open for just li'l ol' me, I decided showing up right at opening (for my East Coast time clock) would be perfect. As it turns out, I sat solo at the bar (in fact the entire restaurant) for about the first 15-20 mins. A little awkward, as they were still sort of doing last minute setup stuff, but I'm happy to be left alone for a short while to gather my thoughts. Like a lunatic, I checked the menu a few times before arriving and STILL hadn't decided what to get by the time I was seated. I knew for sure the chicken liver tartine was a must. The parmigiano soup had piqued my interest as well. It was a decision in the shared items that stumped me (it sucks to dine solo when the options are plenty!) - the burrata with peaches? The grilled broccoli with fried egg? The gnocchi? After a lengthy discussion with the bartender, we decided that the burrata (in addition to the tartine) might be too much bread and the gnocchi too heavy with the other two items. Grilled broccoli for the win! The soup came out first and MYGOD it was DIVINE. The very definition of comfort, and perfect for the grey, windy day. And the bites of leek and bacon... I mean. It was incredible. The tartine came next and, delicious as it was, just couldn't follow the parmigiano soup. Same with the broccoli - good, but nowhere near the decadence of the soup. I now look forward to my next trip to Edmonton, if only for the parmigiano soup.

Bundok was the choice for our anniversary dinner. This small, very intimate restaurant does not disappoint. Our apps we so yummy. Green beans with an almond aioli and devilled egg. Photos below. Mains were gnocchi with mushrooms and a pork chop. These were for sharing and omg! How tasty. Forgot to take photos We were too full for dessert. Not a lot of wines available by the glass. What they had were very good. Service was top notch My only complaint is the chairs. Wooden chairs and my booty don't go together ! But if that's the only complaint, then oh well!

It might be #50 on the Canada 100 Best restaurants list of 2020, but it's #1 in Edmonton and with good reason. Booking a reservation during phase 2 of Albertas reopening was simple and we felt comfortable in the restaurant when seated. The service was knowledgeable and prompt with dishes coming out one at time so as not to rush us. The chicken skins were a great start and everything after was just a delicious as the first. The beets were a surprise hit at the table but the gnocchi and striploin were to die for! Each dish is meant for sharing, so bring as many people as you can - there's something for everyone despite the seemingly short menu. Trust me, you'll want almost everything on it. We left way more full than expected, but completely satisfied with the choice to come here.

Bündok has been one of my most desired restaurants to try in Edmonton for a while because they have been featured on a lot of the country's most prominent and important lists. Canada's 100 Best Restaurants listed Bündok at #93 in 2019 and #50 in 2020. enRoute magazine put them at #8 on Canada's Best New Restaurants 2018. And CBC Edmonton's Best Restaurants 2019 named them as one of the Best of Downtown. This place is hot and I had to try them for myself! You'll find the seasonally-centric Bündok (which means "mountain" in Tagalog) right in the heart of Downtown on 104th Street (where everything in the area is cool). I zipped up on a Saturday evening and was happily seated on the sidewalk patio in the pleasant summer heat. The inside of the restaurant is chic. I loved the cobalt blue colour of the walls, the exposed cinder block, and especially the towering shelves behind the bar which contain an array of knickknacks. The industrial vibe isn't all that shocking these days but I definitely appreciated the approachable atmosphere of the space. The buzzy open kitchen, helmed by Chef Ryan Hotchkiss, allows you to peek in on the action. He seems to be doing a whole lot with a pretty small amount of space! Our server was absolutely wonderful and made us feel right at home, as if we were old friends. I was eager to get a cocktail into my hand - something to match my "hot summer night" patio experience among their pretty planters. The Honeypunch (Yellow chartreuse, amaro sibilla, wildflower honey, lemon, sencha, clarified milk - $14.00) caught my eye and sounded very unique. From the very first sip, this beverage surprised me. The way the experience evolved on my palate was so interesting! At first the sweet honey notes were front and center. But then a more adult, citrus-bitterness developed, which balanced the drink well. Expertly-crafted. The menu at Bündok is to-the-point. There are four "Snacks" to choose from (loves me some snacks!) and thirteen main dishes from "Shares." Plus two desserts in "Sweet." The whole concept is to try a lot of different things, sharing with your co-diners, and allowing for a full and well-rounded experience of everything that the restaurant has to offer. My husband and I were happy to oblige and ordered a barrage of plates which started to arrive after almost no time at all. Each item that we ordered was served in an order that "made sense" with the other dishes, which I appreciated very much. Every plate is made with the current season in mind, capitalizing on the very best ingredients available. First to arrive was the Fried Zucchini Blossoms (Goat yogurt, lemon zest - $6.00) snack. Ultra-seasonal, I love the moments when I find zucchini blossoms on a menu. Fried to a golden perfection, the inside was deliciously tangy and creamy while the citrus pop of lemon made the dish feel very summery and fresh. Next to arrive was Bündok's famed Sea Bream Crudo (Thai basil, citrus, chili, olive oil, apple - $23.00), which looks as beautiful as it tastes. I loved the stunning presentation and noted the use of delicately purple chive flowers. The fish was unctuous and buttery, each bite melting in my mouth. I loved the liberal use of (good) olive oil and the wonderful texture added from the shower of crunchy apple and sea salt. Inconspicuous dots of chili sauce brought just the right amount of heat. A gorgeous plate on every level. Next was our other snack! Chicken Liver Tartine (Dark chocolate, raspberry - $5.00). The combination of flavours on this plate were quite bold. A lot of competing elements but they did somehow manage to find harmony. The heaping amount of rich and creamy chicken liver mousse was the absolute star for me. And then the shaved bitter chocolate and tart juicy raspberry came in swinging! It was just so crazy that it worked. I had heard that the cracklingly crisp Fried Chicken Skins (Honey mustard - $11.00) were a must... Definitely worth ordering, I thought that the presentation of the honey mustard looking a whole lot like an egg yolk (on a pale plate) was very cute. These things are addictive. Double fried and perfectly salted, each bite practically shattered in my mouth like some kind of next-level potato chip. The honey mustard managed to balance some of the fattiness and the whole thing was very delicious. Next is the dish that Bündok is probably the most famous for; Gnocchi Parisienne (Stinging nettle pesto, herb breadcrumbs - $26.00). So what makes this gnocchi different? It's the Parisienne technique. In this style of preparation pâte à choux is used instead of potato. This creates a dumpling that is impossibly light and fluffy - like a little pillow made of clouds. This version is a lot less heavy and dense than its potato counterpart. The verdant pesto was very nice, again creating an ideal summer flavour profile and the satisfying crunch from the toasty breadcrumbs really helped to even out how soft this dish truly is. Quite excellent and I would

Been meaning to try Bundok for some time. Got the chance tonight as we only live around the corner now! Bundok is #2 on the 100 Best Things to Eat with their parmigiana soup. We did not end up having the soup (next time!). We did have their gnocchi and pork belly with beets. Bundoks version of gnocchi doesn't use potatoes and I've never had this dish so can't tell you how it differs from the traditional but I can say the gnocchi was very tasty. I'd definitely have it again! The pork belly was also tasty. The beets were cooked to perfection and the pork has a nice crispy outside. I recommend. For a cocktail I tried be the Boulangerie. It's their version of an old fashioned. It wasn't bad but the bread crumb rim was weird. For $15 I wouldn't recommend.

Truly one of Canada's great restaurants. Went w family for a Saturday dinner during the holidays. Small plates to share and the food was sooo good I could barely get a photo. We had potato dauphine, sea bream crudo (fresh and delicious), the pork dish takes 40 minutes and is worth it. We also had steak tartar that was the best and made me fall off the vegetarian wagon hard! The rose we chose was delicious, buttery w citrus in photos. We also had sirloin that was tender and perfectly crusted. Try the cauliflower to balance out all that meat. We had sour cream ice cream w miso carmelized apples dessert that was unexpected and delicious.

As always the food is delicious and the staff are amazing. We started with a bottle of 2018 La Ferme Du Mont that was delicious. Then the Striped Bass Crudo, Chicken Liver Tartine, Gnocchi Parisienne and the Grilled Striploin. For dessert we had the Citris Posset and Chocolate Ganache Torte. The food was amazing and the selections that were recommended by our server where spectacular. Always nice to try something different. We had a great evening and were feeling so good that we picked up the check for a young couple also seated on the patio.

We came here to celebrate my birthday with a friend and it was a marvelous meal of sharing plates. While I awaited my friend who was a bit delayed, I enjoyed their homemade root beer (which was lovely! I later tried their gingerale which wasn't as much my thing -- not gingery enough for my tastes -- but both were really rather refreshing!). We ate some marvelous meals including the chicken liver tartine, the broccoli with egg, the potate dauphin and the parisienne gnocchi. Dessert was the highlight of my meal however: the Citrus posset was marvelous. It was so refreshing and flavourful and included some of my favourite dessert flavours (raspberry! mint!). My companion enjoyed her hazelnut chocolate cake dessert too. All in all it was a lovely and indulgent meal. I'd love to come back. Service was good -- we had two women serving us and they seemed to be teaching each other how to do the best job. I was quite happy with the experience and our window table. There was even coat hooks behind my chair!

If you're looking to refresh your taste buds with some new flavours on your date night, Bündok is definitely a strong contender. Located in downtown, I was very impressed with the menu here as it offers very unique flavours. Despite the COVID restrictions, I thought that the service was really good and our server was very attentive The tuna credo was delicious, especially when it comes to fish in Alberta. The apple went great with the citrusy flavour and I loved the small hint of spice on it. The strip loin was the star of the meal, drizzled with this delicious black garlic sauce. We asked for it medium rare and it was cooked perfectly throughout, not one bit over or undercooked. The pork sausage was equally incredible and came with this delicious mustard sauce that had a hint of sweetness to it. Overall, this place definitely lives up to its Top 50 in Canada ranking and am excited to visit again.

I've been here a couple times now and Bundok is on my list of the better places in the downtown area for sure. It's a small interior but nicely decorated and plenty of bar seating for busy times. Although it could be a great location for a romantic date, the menu is also great for sharing, so bring a couple friends for maximum opportunity to sample several things. The only thing I haven't been entirely impressed with is the fried chicken skin; it was a bit too hard and seemed a little overdone, whereas ideally it should be crispy but still melt-in-your-mouth when you bite into it. Apart from that though, the sirloin steak was delicious, the gnocchi was tasty but extremely rich (could only eat half), and the roast hen with miso and ginger glaze was probably the best of all. The cauliflower appetizer is great too, and I particularly like that some of their dishes are marked with a symbol meaning that each time someone orders that dish, they'll provide a meal to someone in need also. The cocktail menu seems excellent as well, besides a good wine list and standard cocktails, they have a section simply listing a type of base alcohol and a flavour style, and you can pick any one of each and they'll invent a cocktail for you. I picked "cachaca" and "sweet" and they came back with a rather delicious and slightly lavender-flavoured cocktail that I enjoyed a lot. You'll end up paying $30-40 for a main course, around $15 for a cocktail, and $10-20 for a dessert so it's not the cheapest place in town, but it's also quite within a reasonable range considering the quality of the food. One of the places I recommend to people visiting, and I'm sure I'll be back!

Enjoyed our meal, and the atmosphere / service was great. However a few of our dishes were over salted. Will make a note to tell the server to watch out for that next time! Otherwise, great evening out!

Great atmosphere, great service. What more can I say? ... oh right, the food... I came here for Saturday dinner service. My spouse and I booked a reservation for 5:45PM, this was the perfect time seeing as the restaurant immediately filled up following our seating. The menu is very eclectic, with a variety for everyone; everything is share style. We weren't in the mood for drinking but there was definitely an enticing cocktail menu as well as wine list, we actually opted for their in-house ice tea-- this was phenomenal, unsweetened, natural flavoured tea. Guys, the food is incredible and unique. This is what I fuck with in Edmonton. We ordered 4 dishes, "The Greens" "Fried Chicken Skin" "Gnocchi" and ""Striploin" but seriously. Try anything on the menu, it's a one sided-one pager but everything looked delicious. The greens was a very interesting pear salad with a savoury vinaigrette. The fried chicken skin is crunchy, oily and sprinkled with a honey mustard aioli. I can't describe the gnocchi because it was way to good. The steak was savoury, melt in your mouth goodness. There you have it. I'm done. I'm quite speechless. This is what Edmonton is about. I'm sick of all the fucking hipster-ass wannabe "104th street" restaurants with great branding and advertising. I'm not there to eat posters and logos. I'm there to eat food. Bündok isn't plastered all over social media, they aren't "in-your-face" ... I don't even know who runs the place. I actually want to meet the chef, I want to shake his hand and congratulate him for not conforming to the social scene. This guy, whoever he is, fucks. My total bill was around $80 for 4 plates and ice tea. This is incredible value. Fuck anyone else who says otherwise. 5/5 stars.

The hardest part of dining here is trying to find parking because there is very little parking available, even if you are willing to pay for it. Once that obstacle is behind you the restaurant is a treat. We ordered two dishes to share between the two of us. Three might have been best if you don't want dessert, but we did so two dishes were fine. The first was the sweet potatoe mochi. It was quite tasty and suitable for small appetites. Next they brought out the coconut Thai red curry brisket. It was tasty and filling but the beef tasted overcooked (or old). For dessert we ordered the sticky date cake which was rich and tasty. The off menu special was the pear bread pudding with chocolate mousse. It was nice and light making it the best dessert. This was a great evening and the service was top notch. Our favourites were the hummus, thick and creamy and paired well with the fluffy foccacia. Also the dessert the tahini truffles were really unique and delicous. Everything else was fine but I probably wouldn't order it again. Server was friendly and knowledgeable.

We actually debated leaving, however finally they seated us, it was all good. (Hence why it looses a star). Atmosphere is pretty typical for a craft brewery. I am not a huge sports bar fan, and I was pleased to see that TVs were not a focus here. Menu is good. Lots of different things to try, but they are well known for their pizzas. Great selection of beers. Also an okay selection of cocktails and wine. I am on medication, so I tried a "near beer" can that they offered and I was pleased with the flavour. I wish they would have a non alcoholic that is more local on tap. Hubby because of driving went with a coke. Edmonton is no different than anywhere else in the fact that our restaurantscape has been dotted with more and more local breweries - which is cool and all - but the part that has caught my attention is the elevation and refinement that has also evolved. Gone are the days when the average pub is slinging a beer in your general direction and calling it a day. Now there are chefs involved, complete dining programs, and entire concepts. It's more than just a boozy good time (but it's also still that). One of the standouts in this game is Campio Brewing Co., which first opened its doors in 2018 and have since expanded to a second location. In a previous life the original restaurant operated as Characters Fine Dining for twenty some years, which is why the space might feel familiar. (I remember dining at Characters in my 20s and believing that it was the height of luxury.) Voted Best Brewpub 2025 by EDify Magazine, Campio has positioned itself as a reliable standby when it comes to beers and eats Downtown, and they ain't slowing down anytime soon. I visited on a Monday evening, only half realizing that it was also an Oilers home game night. At only a seven minute walk away from Rogers Place, you can be sure that the place will be positively packed with jersey-wearing fans, the majority of which who are grabbing a bite before gametime. This was absolutely the case during my visit, and while it was crowded there's something about the buzz of a hockey night that feels pretty special. Peering through the sea of blue and orange in the main dining area, it was clear that tables were at a premium. I had no idea that there was additional seating downstairs but quickly learned as the hostess lead the way down the stairs. The basement appears to be the brewery itself, lined with fermentation tanks and wooden aging barrels. The picnic-style tables are communal. While it's not as nice as upstairs and certainly feels like an overflow area, it is kind of neat to be sitting where all of the brewery magic happens. (Think of when you try to go camping but the campground is already full, so they just stick you in a big empty field with the rest of the extras.) The main upstairs dining area is expansive, rich in wood, and feels historic. You'll find exposed brick and the same epic wooden pillars that exist in many of the old buildings downtown. But the best table in the entire restaurant? That would be the elevator shaft room - now converted into a small dining area. The elevator buttons are still on the wall! Our server was super personable and friendly, genuinely seeming like she was having a good time. Campio is obviously known for their 16 rotating craft beers on draft brewed right in the restaurant itself. They also sell their beer in cans (covered in beautiful artwork) which can be found in liquor stores everywhere, as well as offsale at the brewery itself. My husband is a big fan of their seasonal Once in Oaxaca (a prickly pear horchata sour). I, myself, am not much of a beer drinker so I was pleased to find a list of house cocktails to choose from - way more my jam. The Iced Edmonton Fog (Baileys, Cointreau, Amaretto, walnut bitters, earl grey tea - $14.50) sounded really delicious and fun. (They also make beer cocktails!) The flavour profile of this drink is right up my alley! The combination of almond, walnut and earl grey sounds cozy and delicious! However, I found that I wanted even more flavour from each sip. The beverage tasted quite watered down and could've been more full-bodied. It did remind me a lot of a paralyzer though, which I was not mad at. The main concept at Campio is to fuse Edmonton's blue-collar nature and artistic flair into one, serving up whimsy and quality with diverse offerings. I do think that this shows a clear understanding of the clientele in this city and it points toward Campio's success. The menu is fresh, playful, and approachable, offering the kind of food that people actually want to eat in a brewpub today. They've got Fried Pepperoni (With honey mustard - $9.00) on the snacks part of the menu and I'm not one to refuse! A Halifax stable, Edmonton and this Maritime city seem to have a lot in common when it comes to cuisine (RE: the donair). Sliced paper-thin, each ruby-hued round is crispy like a chip. You could easily toss about 20 of these into your mouth and barely notice. I liked the tangy honey mustard to dip into. This dish is like the best part of a pizza without all of the unnecessary rest of it. I'd happily start my meal with these every time! For the main event Campio offers two types of choices; you can opt for a handheld (I've had their Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich before and that tall stack is a good time!) or you can order a Detroit deep dish pizza (which I feel is kinda their "signature thing.") Detroit-style pizza really blew up arou

I started the meal with the Don Vito cocktail, a spirit forward sweet concoction of Cognac, Bourbon and Limoncello. Immediately felt like it set the perfect tone for dinner. The tasting menu started with four appetizers, the Arancini, Goat Ricotta Crostini, Insalata Siciliana and the Culatello. My favorite was the arancini as it was packed full of melty cheese with so much flavor. The culatello was a crowd favorite and the crostini was a great palate cleanser. For secondi we had the Truffle Gnudi and Paccheri. For people who like meaty flavors go with the paccheri, but I liked the light cheese and truffle of the gnudi. By the time the Pollo Al Mattone came around, I could only manage a mouthful of the succulent brick chicken and the fresh cabbage salad as I was so full and would need to be rolled out of the restaurant. We ended with the Chocolate Budino, which was dark, creamy and delicious. A great tasting menu at a great price, especially compared to Toronto prices!

The appetizer with the cheese on toast was so much more flavorful than cheese on toast should be. Our companions had a pasta dish with sausage and it was amazing. If I lived in the area this would be a favorite to return to often. I like that the bartender just works on drinks for servers and there aren't patrons directly ordering drinks from him to slow the service.
