First and foremost, they avoid giving you their phone number and push you to email -- which is fine at first but not a good experience with multi-day delays just to setup a consultation appointment. It took about 3 weeks to actually have someone visit the home and talk about the project. That in-person visit went great and I was excited to start working with them and hire them for the job. Unfortunately, it took about a week to receive the estimate, and after asking a few basic questions about the quote they stopped responding and wouldn't take my phone call. They finally responded on email mentioning they had just committed to other projects and won't be able to take mine on. I understand that competing priorities come up but I wanted to share my experience here that this company doesn't seem to value individual homeowner projects and their communication is the worst I've dealt with after speaking with numerous contractors. Considering the low # of reviews on yelp, that seems to suggest they rarely take on homeowner projects. For me, It was a big waste of time going through the consultation and estimate process with them.

Their responsiveness was abominable and they were very busy, but, hey -- COVID. I can forgive. But then deduct one star for the fact that almost nothing their designer chose was available (and many were invasive in California -- she's in North Carolina). She also didn't listen to my feedback and then tried to charge me for another round. Deduct another star for not finishing everything I wanted to do, because some things I had to special order and were delayed. They had to move on to other jobs. Fine. Let's do it as a phase two. I emailed them in April. They couldn't even come out to talk about it until May. Fine. Then came several months of me following up. They didn't come back until July -- and could only spend two hours doing a quarter of the work. I kept following up, they kept saying they were busy on "bigger" (more important) projects and would promise a date. It would come and go. We had them doing our landscaping, too, until one time we saw the guy on our security camera just walking around with a blower for less than five minutes. I canceled; deduct another star because they didn't even care to ask why. I sent a follow up (it was OCTOBER) saying I don't know what to do or think about the rest of the work they're supposed to be doing. No response. Not a surprise, but a huge disappointment. The guys themselves are great. But unless you're building a pool, they won't be interested in your business. And they won't have the guts to tell you. Now here we are, two years later, deduct another star because I've had to repair all of the irrigation they said they'd fixed, and replace all of the bubblers they'd installed, and the stone on the retaining wall they faced is falling off in multiple places. And they won't return our phone calls.

"WITH KNOBS ON" (as they say in Great Britain!)…read more After Hurricane Debby's heavy rains in Manatee County, the ground on my property became thoroughly saturated and the roots of my 70-foot-tall Norfolk Pine Tree began to loosen. When this occurred, the enormous tree began to LEAN. This was definitely an EMERGENCY SITUATION since it was abundantly clear that the tree could EASILY fall and DEMOLISH the home of my neighbor to the east. I contacted several tree services immediately but the first two who came out said they were afraid to attempt the work since the tree was so close to the houses. They said it was not possible to get a cherry-picker-type machine into the back yard to lift their workers up to the top of the tree. I was then VERY fearful that NO tree company would be able to help me and felt that the tree would surely fall on the house of my neighbor. But SAM'S TREE SERVICE said they could do the work, arrived on time, were professional beyond belief, and performed feats I would not have imagined possible. I have never, ever seen workers who were more thoughtful. One worker CLIMBED the 70-foot tree, cutting off limbs as he ascended, and my heart was pounding as he reached the top and began to cut down the enormous tree trunk a little at a time. The workers on the ground made certain the heavy limbs came down safely, tethered to heavy ropes. Not one other tree on my property was damaged by the falling limbs. All birdbaths and concrete benches, heavy planters, etc., had been moved by the workers to safe locations before the work began. All the enormous, heavy pieces of the trunk of the tree (and all branches) were removed and placed in the SAM'S company truck and hauled away. These men even raked the area afterwards and carried away ALL the debris. In my opinion, THIS tree service is the ONLY one I would call or recommend in future. The workers were here for 6.5 hours and worked like Trojans. I not only paid the fee for the work but I also gave each of the 3 workers a one-hundred-dollar tip. I will be FOREVER GRATEFUL to this company. THANKS AGAIN, SAM'S TREE SERVICE. I have never been so relieved IN MY LIFE!

The Green Heroes Landscape team saved our front yard! We were looking into revamping our front yard with turf and gravel and found Daniel and his team. Now it needed all those shoots that pop out at each cut thinned out. The supervisor used his lazer pointer to show us what was needed to inhance the tree and to help keep it healthy. We decided to try them again. I was truly disappointed with their customer service. I scheduled a consultation with an arborist and they scheduled a 4-hour window. On the day of, the arborist called and left me a message saying they were on their way. I waited and waited for a call for when they arrived, and no such call. I had been in the back of my house property doing some work and so I figured I would call the arborist back since I would not hear a door bell. He did not leave a number so there was no way to reach him. I called the main Peterson's number and there was no answer. I tried again and left a message. I waited and waited and no one showed up so I called again. I finally spoke with someone and she said he came and rang the bell and since no one came he left. I was frustrated that he didn't try to call me before just leaving. The customer service person I spoke with gave me the option to reschedule for another day and another 4-hr window. I said that I was not ok with having to schedule for such a long window and asked if she could offer a shorter one. She then blamed me for not having told them when I scheduled the appointment that I might not be inside my house at time of arrrival. She ultimately hung up on me. I called back and left a message asking to speak with the owner/supervisor. I had hoped to find some sort of attempt on their part to find some compromise. But I never received a call back. I was able to find another company that made an appointment for a smaller window and that had better customer service. I will be taking my business elsewhere and will never recommend their services again.

Growscapes is a scam company. I would give them a negative star rating if I could. It has taken me…read morea long time to write this review because I get so angry. They took total advantage because we're elderly and know nothing about plants. We just took out the $3000.00 worth of shit They sold us. 1) they sold us tropical even though I said they wouldn't work because our backyard gets too much direct sun and heat. Anthony assured me that didn't matter. All that mattered was water. They ALL died within a few months 2) I was told the drip system they installed could be adjusted for each plant to get more or less water. Not true 3) I explained the dirt they were planting in was old and depleted. I was told the dirt didn't matter. They did not treat the dirt or even fertilize what they planted. 4) the drip system they put in had a control that it has a 300 page online manual. Even their installer didn't know how to set it up and was unable to explain it to me. YET he told me it needed to be updated every 6 months when we changed the batteries. Of course we were not told about this requirement until instalation was completed. As I said earlier we are elderly! I asked for a simpler timer and they said there was no option. 5) they are NOT woman owned and operated. Yes, the scamming husband put the company in his wife's name for tax purposes but she CLEARLY knows nothing about plants or landscaping. When I had them come out to see the dead plants she never spoke. Her husband and Anthony did all the arguing and yelling and put all the blame on us. I have never experienced such lack of professionalism in any service industry. All I asked for, and still feel we are entitled to, is a refund. The dead plants have been removed, the inadequate drip system has been removed, and we are starting over. I was duped by a morally bankrupt company. Don't be fooled by the fake reviews on their web page! They have no place to leave a review on their web page and they aren't here so where did those reviews come from?? THEY ARE SCAMMERS! BE WARNED!
