It was edible, but nothing that really stood out. The place has more of a hole-in-the-wall vibe, not fancy at all, but still has a certain charm. What really made the visit better was the service. The people who worked there were very nice, friendly, and welcoming, which I appreciated. I can't say I'd go out of my way to come back for the food, but the staff definitely made the experience feel a little warmer.

Layne's Chicken Fingers is basically Raising Cane's, which is pretty funny considering there's a…read moreRaising Cane's literally right across the street. Both restaurants serve almost the exact same thing, and I think which one you prefer really just comes down to personal taste. The menu is pretty straightforward. You can get three, four, or five chicken fingers in a combo with fries, Texas toast, dipping sauce, and a drink. The chicken itself is good, but nothing particularly special. Their signature sauce is very similar to Cane's sauce, although I find Layne's version to be a little more peppery. Personally, I prefer Cane's fries over Layne's, and overall I think Cane's has the edge when it comes to the food. But again, that's really just a preference thing. One major difference between the two locations is the setup. Cane's has an indoor dining area where you can sit down and eat, while Layne's is primarily a drive-through restaurant. They do have some outdoor tables and a walk-up ordering window. I actually tried walking up to the window and knocked a few times, but nobody ever came over to help me. I eventually gave up and went through the drive-through instead. There were people eating at the outdoor tables, so I'm not sure what was going on with the walk-up window. As far as value goes, the prices are reasonable, and the portion sizes are fine. It's pretty much what you'd expect from a typical fast-food chicken finger restaurant. Overall, Layne's is a perfectly fine place to grab a quick lunch or dinner. The food is good enough, the value is fair, and the drive-through makes it convenient. Personally, I'd probably choose the Cane's across the street, but I can absolutely see why some people might prefer Layne's. Neither is dramatically different from the other, and it really just comes down to which version of chicken fingers, fries, and sauce you like better.

Pollo Campero is a fast food counter service chain restaurant that specializes in fried and roasted…read morechicken meals like Golden Chick does. Recently I dined to here to compare the two. They let you order your meal mixing fried and roasted pieces so I did. I also have tried the campero beans and cole slaw as side dishes. Prices are very reasonable. A 3 piece chicken meal with one side dish with self serve drink and tax runs about $13. Two piece meals are less of course. The chicken here tastes very good. As long as it is hot, the roasted version is seasoned and very juicy. The fried version had a nice seasoned crust and was also juicy inside. I think I liked the fried a little better but would be ok with either. Their sides are even better. My order of campero beans were hot and very flavorful. The cole slaw was cool and creamy with a rich taste. Those two were quality side dishes. This is the only outpost of Pollo Campero that I have visited. It remains to be seen if the other locations are consistent with this one. I have found that Golden Chick disappoints more than it succeeds. As of now, Pollo Campero is my fave of this type of restaurant.

Stopped by an impromptu Sunday dinner…read more I did a to go order...initially I was guided by a staff member to use the kiosk to place my order. A couple in front of me who were older were told to order on the kiosk as well. I noticed there was no support to assist customers who were not familiar with this technology. The staff member that was assigned to the area said she didn't know how to use it as well. I attempted to use it but gave up. lol. So we both waited in line. I went through the line and placed my order. Staff were ok, there nothing special. It is a popular location as it was very busy. I was satisfied with my food once I returned home. I ordered baked chicken with pinto beans cabbage dressing and cranberry sauce. I thought everything was flavorful and the price point was right. I would highly suggest having someone at the kiosk to guide first time users.
