Going to have them again .I have a tree that is leaning. And I want it taken care of . Be for it falls and does damage

The Harrity crew came this week and did some work for us. We have a huge Japanese maple that was getting out of hand. They trimmed it back so that it isn't drooping and has a nice shape. They didn't take too much off so it is still really pleasant to sit under and enjoy lunch or dinner. The volunteer maple has disappeared and they too care of a couple of other chores. We've used them in the past several times and have always been very pleased with their work. Highly recommend their service. This is a fine local company. read more

This company is absolutely amazing. They were immediate in their response and gave a reasonable quote. On arrival of the day of service, they put down plywood to protect my lawn and dug up any plants that could be damaged. Their work was beyond superior and their work ethic was diligent & steadfast. They worked above & beyond, and then replanted all my plants. Matt, the owner, is arborist at heart and is truly sincere in his care for plants and trees. He took me around my yard informing me of information that would be useful in making sure that we caring for the remaining trees in our yard (fungus, etc). They did an incredible amount of work for us at a price incomparable to any other quote we had received. This was Dec 2020. Additionally, our home was hit hard with the ice storm in Feb 2021. Matt responded to my distress when a neighbors tree fell and hit my yard at two spots, destroying my yard, blocking my street, barricading me and my neighbors in, and hitting my car. We also had a tree we share with a neighbor in the corner of our property that had a part fall on the power lines. Matt answered my calls immediately, was in constant contact with me via text, and came out to clear the street then later in the week on a Saturday to clean up my yard and remaining debris. Harrity Tree Specialists were hired to remove a very old, very large Sycamore Maple that was a danger due to rot. I had multiple bids done for the project. Harrity came back with the lowest bid which I would normally toss out. A low bid can be a red flag however, I did some research on the company and decided to go with them. Matt and his crew showed up on time and got right to work. They very professionally handled the traffic flow in front of my busy intersection as well as taking the tree down. They worked swiftly and more importantly, safely. I was so impressed with the entire crew. They left my property as clean as possible, all of the wood removed and the stump ground down. I hired Harrity to cut two trees at the front of my house and top some laurels down below my house. They came out and inspected all this and told me that they could grind the stumps of the two trees in front down to 36 inches. I asked them to repeat this several times as I knew I would be digging into this area to replant. I was promised 36 inches of grinding. However, when the crew came out and cut down the tree, the quickly filled the hole. I came out and dug up the hole finding that the stumps were ground to 6 or 18 inches. When I asked why not 36, the boss told me that 36 inches was impossible with their equipment. So I let them go and paid them. I should not have paid them in retrospect. I emailed them and was told that someone would come out, but that never happened. About 4 weeks later I began digging and it took me about 18 hr of digging to get rid of the stumps and get down to 36 inches so I could plant moderate-sized trees with 36 inch footballs. They also did a relatively poor job of topping my laurels, the job was done very quickly and then they wanted to get on to another job. So my suggestion is to hire another company, one that keeps their word. read more

Joe Harrity is quite knowledgable and was able to help diagnose issues with the trees on my property, which allowed me to save trees I thought I'd have to loose and improve their health. Crew that did the work, headed by Merle, were extremely professional. Showed up at the agreed to time, completed all work safely and did an excellent job of cleaning up after their work. I had trees removed, stumps groundout, diseased limbs removed and a large tree cabled for safety. All felled trees were cut into managable pieces for drying as firewood. Prices are competitive, yet it is the knowledge, professionalism and tidiness that set them apart from the rest. read more

My neighbor is contracting with this company and just cut down a huge pine tree in NE 24th and Clackamas. When I got home the guy with the blower was blatantly blowing all the debris (saw dust, dirt, needles) not only down my street and anywhere away from the job, but onto the sidewalks and into my yard. I told him I had just cleaned and did my own blowing and sweeping two days before and he said he was just doing what he was told. Not cool. read more

Everything about this company was professional and knowledgeable. From start to finish, we had a great experience and will definitely hire them again for any future tree work. We had a quick response to our call, a knowledgeable discussion of options and advice for an aging birch tree (pruning) and cherry tree (removal), and a fair and competitive estimate within a day. Our service was scheduled within a week of accepting the estimate, and at a time that was convenient for us. Joe and the crew arrived as scheduled and did a walk through before work began. I did not hire Harrity to do my tree work as I was a bit put off by the quote/estimate process. We had scheduled them to come give us an estimate on a Friday at noon. My wife was going to be home for the appointment, but at the last minute had to take our young son to the doctor. I didn't want to miss the estimate so I rearranged my day at work and rushed home to be there. At 12:02 I received a text from them asking where I was and that they had "already been there 10 minutes." I responded at 12:04 that I was sorry I was running late as we had a last minute emergency, and that I was on the way and would be there in the next 5-10 minutes. I also let them know that the service area was easily viewable and accessible from the front of the lot, so if they wanted to start taking a look, I would be there soon. No response. At 12:09 I received a message that they had taken a quick look but were off to their next appointment, and I could send any pictures of additional trees. I responded that I didn't realize we only had a 9-minute window for the appointment and that I had rushed home and was almost there. I received a fairly snarky response that it wasn't a 9-minute window but that they couldn't wait around because it would make them late for their next appointment. I arrived home at 12:10, a totally wasted trip as they were already gone. I completely understood that I was late for the appointment, and respect their scheduling and timing, but I had apologized and communicated and let them know my ETA and there was zero flexibility or understanding extended. They knew I was on the way and left anyway. If they're booking so tight that they need to be in-and-gone within 10 minutes, it's probably too tight. I got the impression that they really didn't want my business and were more concerned about scolding me for being late. read more

Harrity Tree Specialists were doing a job across the street from my home so I walked over and asked for an estimate for trees around my home. I was given a reasonable quote and an appointment was set up to do the work. Matt confirmed the appointment prior to the date and was there and on time with his crew. The work was done and the clean up was perfect. I felt that working with Matt and Harrity Tree Specialists that they were very knowledgeable about all of the different trees during this job and explained thoroughly what type of service would be best for the different trees. We recently had Joe and his crew replace a dead tree and do some trimming of other trees in our backyard. Joe always has great suggestions for trees and makes sure they're suited to your landscape and budget. His crew is always on time and efficient, friendly and clean up any debris. Two years ago, I had Joe Harrity come out and give me an estimate on a number of tree jobs on my property. He was so knowledgeable and quickly diagnosed the problems and the needs for each tree we talked about. Further, he gave me resources to contact the city to check out the need for any permits for my property. As it turned out, I wasn't able to have this big job done at the time. Recently, I had him come back. His new estimate only varied by $50 from the original (which is more than fair considering I waited so long.) The crew arrived on time and Joe did a final check with me before starting. I had huge trees removed, invasive hollies taken out, had the limbs cut back from my roof on other incredibly tall trees, and raised the canopy on three more so that you could actually "see" my house again! It was quite an undertaking. The crew was friendly and incredibly hard working. After the job was over, I realized a couple hollies that I thought were going to be cut down were not. I contacted Joe and he had the crew back here today to take care of everything to my total satisfaction. I have already recommended Harrity Tree Specialists to many friends.
