Jeff and his crew are excellent! I think he has the most Certified Arborists of any of the Tree companies. Jeff answered my questions during the bid process, and he gave me helpful and honest information about my Trees the crew that pruned six of my Trees did a fantastic job! I recommend this company! They were prompt, gave a very fair bid and did a great job of taking down a large Birch tree branch that was leaning and extending over my roof. -In addition they were friendly and totally cleaned up the tree debris as well as clearing the large trunk pieces. Urban Forest Pro are truly pros. Our initial consultation was with Jeff - who's a wealth of knowledge and took the time to walk around our property and educate us about all the types of trees we have. I appreciate that he advised us on what needed immediate attention, what could wait, and what to keep an eye on. We needed several trees pruned and several cut down - including a huge rotten one in the front yard. UFP handled all the permits and back-and-forth with the city. The teams came out and got everything done in a day. One team prunes, another team shows up to cut, and another team comes by to pick up the big pieces. It's quite the well-orchestrated team. We'll definitely be hiring them again. read more

We have used Urban Forest Pro twice, after being referred to Urban Forest Pro by my brother, a remodeling/renovation contractor. We have a large yard in the Irvington/Dolph Park neighborhood, thus, have quite a few trees of various types. We were impressed both times, but this last time we felt compelled to provide a review. We've used various tree and landscaping services over the years, and we recognize that Urban Forest Pro is extraordinarily professional, they listen to what we are looking for, prioritize tree health, and take the time to provide good advice as to what we should do (and not do) even if what they propose involves less than what we thought we wanted (ie. less revenue). We don't write many reviews, but we wanted to share how much we appreciate their service. read more

Urban Forest Pro came out last week to work on the three big trees on my property (two walnuts and one apple). These trees are lovely but not without their issues - ie, leaves and apples fall everywhere. Everyone at Urban Forest Pro was professional and helpful throughout. The consult happened in early January and the trim in early May, so they do get booked up. Book early! Scheduling staff was responsive. The crew that actually did the work listened to my requests and made quick work of it. They provided some recommendations for maintenance as well. Pricing was right in line with other quotes I got. However, the company provides discounts for quick booking & quick payment which made it slightly more affordable than others. read more

A few years ago we knew it was time to start having our trees trimmed , as well as having one tree that had an issue looked at by an expert . We enjoy gardening and spending time in our yard so we wanted to research companies to find the best. While researching we discovered what an arborist is and that they specialize in tree health as well and knew that was what we were looking for . Urban Forest Pro responded immediately and had a tree health expert come out as well as someone to give us an estimate on our fruit , ornamental and various other trees. They have been taking care of our trees for several years and we are so pleased ! They do amazing work and are worth every penny . read more

I bought a house in Portland that game with two healthy western red cedars and a willow that was dying. After getting multiple estimates, I went with Urban Forest Pro. They were able to offer the most comprehensive package of action to keep my cedars healthy and to remove and replace the willow. Their work has required multiple visits by specialists or specific tools, but they have coordinated when they would be showing up and what was needed from me and my neighbors in terms of space and access. They also entirely handled the permit process other than having me sign a couple documents as the property owner. They have conducted themselves professionally and courteously when on my property doing work, and the grooming/trimming has made the trees and my back yard look wonderful. I'm incredibly happy with their work. read more

We used them for the first time this year. They were easier to schedule with than our former arborist and did a really great job on our trees both for appearance and health. We will definitely use them again. read more

They have been taking car of our trees for years! We have a lot of different maples and fir trees that needs maintenance and Urban Forest Pro trims them up nicely. They don't over trim and the trees and coverage looks great. We had 3 large trees taken down this winter (right before the ice storm) and so thankful that the trees were gone. They are fast, efficient, and on time. Highly recommend, and their pricing is reasonable especially for the quality of service and promptness. read more

They helped us clean up storm damage where some branches came down on our house. We had them give us an estimate to remove the 2 street trees in front of our home, we accepted their proposal and the work was scheduled a few weeks out. Everything on the front end went well. Permits, city inspection and parking closures were arranged in advance, the crew showed up and took down the trees in a professional manor. They cleaned up adequately and left the 2 tree trunks down on the ground because they were too large to grind up. Pick up up the large pieces and the stump grinding would happen on Wednesday, 2 days later. The crane truck removed the remaining tree pieces late Wednesday afternoon and now, almost a week later we're still waiting to get a date when the stump grinder can fit us in their apparently very busy schedule. In summary: great start, nice work for reasonable cost, lousy finish. Update: he came by today and did the stump grinding, job complete. Issues were of communication, work done is top notch. read more

We had a tree fall on our house two days after Christmas. What a nightmare. Fortunately no one was injured, but the removal would be complicated because the tree was leaning across our power line. Urban Forest Pros answered our call (3 other arborists went straight to voicemail!) with empathy and compassion, sent an estimator (Jeff) over that same day, and quickly put together a solid plan for removing the tree. Their project manager was extremely communicative with us, coordinated with PGE to drop our power line safely, and arranged for a crane to lift the tree off the house while their crew handled the rest. All within a few days of the tree coming down. The crew was professional, polite, and made short work of what looked like a nearly impossible task. While I hope I never have another tree-related emergency, I know who to call now if it happens again. And I don't hesitate to recommend anyone else with a complicated, emergency tree removal to contact Urban Forest Pros. read more

We had several large trees in the back and front yard that needed to be pruned/cleaned up, including two 70' (or maybe bigger?) walnut trees that were waaay beyond our abilities. The Urban Forest Pro crew was amazing. Sensitive to our concerns, and very skilled and professional. And had the agility of monkeys -- even with their saws and equipment -- as they scaled our enormous trees, ran ropes, and cleaned away the dead wood, etc. Crew leader Cole was an ace -- great communication start to finish. Along with keeping me updated on progress and plans, and making sure all the trees were just as I'd liked, he also managed to mediate with and allay the concerns of our behind-the-fence neighbor (who was the reason we were trimming back one of the biggest walnut trees -- it had grown to be hanging way over into his yard, and was looming over his shed). Now, that is next level! These guys are wonderful. I plan to hire them again in future years, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to you. Thanks again, guys! :) read more

called and made an appointment for a consult, Board Certified Master Arborist: Jeff Moore, never showed up. No call, No show.

I love these guys. I've had them out three years in a row for treatment of two huge birch trees and a row of arborvitae, and they're coming out again to do some tree pruning and cabling. Cassie, the scheduler in the officer, is super-friendly and easy to work with. Matt, the arborist who comes out to treat the trees, is great, too. I've recommended them to several neighbors and friends and will continue to trust them with the care of my trees. read more

Our poor beloved paper birch tree died and became a bit of an eyesore. So, we were in desperate need of an arborist to remove it. We contacted Urban Forest and they sent out Jesse, an ISA certified Arborist to help us get an estimate and draw up the permits for the city. Jesse was helpful in explaining the whole process of removing the tree from drawing up the estimate, filling out the permit all the way to tree removal and stump grinding. He was also extremely knowledgeable about what and when to plant a tree in the future (we want one in the same spot). The next communication I had was with CD. She was the friendliest telephone assistant I've ever talked to! She also doubles as an arborist, so she was able to make more suggestions about future trees to plant and how to gain more space back in my yard. I talked to a few other people along the way, they were always friendly, helpful, and above all knowledgeable! All in all, start to finish, from estimate to stump grinding and tree trunk pickup, my project took only one month and most of that was waiting on my permits from the city. Urban Forest did an excellent job and ensured that I was satisfied! read more

Our experience with Urban Forest Pro was smooth and efficient. They were very responsive and had an arborist come out within a few days of our request to assess our tree and provide a quote [note: we did have an arborist out three years back who gave the same exact assessment of 'probably 10 years left']. Either way, we knew we wanted the tree removed (it was hallowed out and didn't seem very healthy). We got a quote and Urban Forest Pro took it from there - they handled the permitting process and paperwork and worked with us to schedule a time. The tree removal only took a few hours and the crew was polite and friendly. We left them to their work. They came back later that day to haul out the larger trunk pieces to the curb and the stump grinder and removal people came the week after to finish the job. Overall, the entire project took just a few days (excluding the weekend) and everyone was really professional. We felt the quote was fair and it included the entire project from start to finish. We would recommend Urban Forest Pro for anyone needing tree removal or assessment. read more

Urban Forest Pro surveyed my neighborhood and provided delightful cards showing the tree they thought may need some work and explaining that they already had a quote saved for if and when I gave them a call. It was perfect timing for us as we were gathering quotes for the tree at that time. Will certainly use them in the future. read more

The arborist showed up on time and was very professional He walk around the grounds and as I pointed out what I thought might needed seeing to. Really happy with their service. Jesse came out to give me an estimate and the next day, a huge tree fell during a windstorm and he had to come out the next day. He was great with the estimates. Thorough initial walk through questions and needs with Arborist around our yard. Reasonable estimate of costs after walkthrough. We needed help with our big street trees in the curb strip - up in the wires and cable, phone and city just point fingers to each other and back to us so even though they are in the public right of way, we are re$ponsible for upkeep. We also had pruning on side and in back on various sizes smaller trees. Mind you, we live on a 5k sq ft city lot so there is not a whole lot of room for big trees but we love the shade, habitat and help for groundwater so we want to be good stewards. These guys came in at lowest bid, highest ratings and had three guys working their butts off all afternoon in 90 degree heat. They cleaned up and minded my garden and I'm just amazed with how much they chipped and hauled away. Would use again and recommend to friends, family and neighbors. read more

Great experience with Urban Forest Pro - their business model is great from the estimating process all the way through the actual job and follow-up post-work to ensure you are happy. They definitely have a priority in place to make sure you are completely satisfied with all work. We had them out to lift / prune a couple large cedars, trim maple in our atrium, remove an old cherry tree, and tip back a few trees hanging over our fence. This is the second time we've used them and we learned our lesson when we strayed to another local Arborist which provided the absolute WORST experience we've had with any contractor. On September 7, 2020 a wind storm caused a maple tree to crash into our house in NW Portland. We called Urban Forest Pro, a Northwest Portland company to obtain an estimate on getting the tree removed from the house. The company owner, Jeffrey D. Moore, came to our house on the morning of September 9 and told us he could have a crew do the work that day or the following day. Moore told us he was charging a premium price. in excess of $500 an hour. He told us he would bill our insurance company directly. He said Urban Forest Pro was on our insurer's preferred provider list and that UFP would take care of everything. We told Moore we did not want his company to remove any debris. He agreed. Moore did not say anything about charging us for the crew's travel time or charging us for an estimate. The company's website and outgoing message state that estimates are free. On September 10 a three-man crew from Urban Forest Pro arrived at our house at approximately 2:00 pm. and began work. They topped the part of the tree hanging over our house then lowered the rest of the tree to the ground. We told the crew we did not want them to remove any debris. The crew left at approximately 4:00 p.m. They were at our house almost exactly two hours. The crew was professional and did what we requested. The rest of the experience was horrible. Our homeowner's insurance company sent us two checks and we weren't sure what they were for. We called the insurance company and learned that one of the checks, for $2,449.40, was for the tree removal. We asked our insurance company for a copy of the invoice and we were shocked that the company charged for 3.61 hours at $540 per hour ($1,949.40) and $500 for debris removal. We called Urban Forest Pro several times and tried to explain that the invoice was in error. We spoke to a woman named Cassie who adamantly told us we had to pay the full amount of the invoice. She told us we were also being charged for travel time. We explained that Jeff never told us we would be billed for travel time. We told her we were charged for work that wasn't done (or even requested), i.e. $500 for tree removal. Cassie said that it was on the invoice and we had to pay it. She repeatedly told us the crew's truck had GPS so the company knew how far it had traveled. Eventually she told us the crew had come from Northeast Sumner Street in Portland. It's 13 miles from our house to the most distant point on Sumner Street, as if that matters. Cassie refused to discuss the flawed invoice and kept asking us how much we'd be willing to pay to settle the matter. We told her we'd pay $1,080 for two hours at $540 per hour. At no point during any of our calls with Cassie did she express any interest in correcting the invoice or explaining to us why we were being charged $500 for debris removal when clearly no debris removal was done or requested. On Thursday, October 8, Cassie agreed that the company would settle with us for $1,260. We asked for a revised invoice prior to making the payment. Cassie said she couldn't provide one and had no reasonable explanation for why it couldn't be done. Then we asked for an email stating the terms we had agreed to. Cassie said she'd see if that was possible and get back to us. She never did. Cassie called us on Tuesday, October 13, and said she was trying to contact our claims adjuster to get more information. This led to a circular conversation with us explaining that we are responsible for paying the invoice and that the insurance company would reimburse us. Cassie kept insisting that we were wrong and that Cassie needed to speak with our insurance adjuster. We again told Cassie that we would settle for $1,260 and we would pay today if we got something in writing that it was the total amount owing. Cassie said she "couldn't make that offer anymore." She said,"it's not part of our process to send anything in advance." We called the company owner, Jeff Moore later on October 13 and explained that we had been billed for work that wasn't done. Moore agreed that his workers were at our house for two hours. He would not discuss the fact we were billed for work that was not performed and told us were were in breach of contract. Ultimately, we all got fleeced on this one. Our insurance company rolled over and paid the full amount. Now we all can enjoy higher premiums as a result. read more

I could not be more pleased with my experience with Urban Forest Pro. Everything from day 1 has been seamless and easy going. Between the gals in the office who got me scheduled for the estimate, the service, and took the payment, or the gentlemen who came out for the estimate and to perform the service itself, everything has been exceptional. Seemed like a great company. Emailed them indicating I wanted help planting an existing tree we already have (a live christmas tree), and sourcing and planting two more trees. No one emailed back. Called a week later, and was told that it was a minimum of $350 to plant a tree. They explained that it was at least $85 per person per hour (although I have no idea how that would then compute to a $350 minimum). The website pretty clearly states $80 to plant a tree (was advised that was out of date). Thats quite the inflation rate. They said it was $360 to source a tree from them and plant. I get that they want you to buy their trees and not your own, but this is insane. Sadly, was looking to use them long term and source lots of additional trees. But I need someone who can at a minimum plant what I already have! So frustrating. read more

Wow! What a great experience it was working with this company. From the office staff that originally booked me to my own personal project manager, that was there with fast responses to any question I had. The biggest shout out has to go to the the actual arborists who came out and took care of our trees. We had a pair of 50 foot plus maples that were stretching across our property line over our neighbor's roof. I thought it would be very daunting and dangerous to take down but as soon as they got there, they put my worries to rest with the amount of professionalism and seasoned technique they brought to the situation. They worked fast, hard and SAFE, now my yard looks great. If you have a tree removal, call these guys, you won't be disappointed! read more

Urban Forest Pro - Tree Services Near Me - Portland, Oregon

This is the best tree removal service I've used in Portland. I have several trees on my property, a few of which I have had to remove over the years. This task became a challenge when I went to remove the Oak that was over my house. Urban Forest Pro was one of the only arborists willing to take it on. The team is by far the most experienced and skilled I've hired; from start to finish they have excellent communication, prompt service, easy contracting, and some of the best prices in town. They are the only tree removers that have taken the time to protect my other landscaping; They laid down plywood to protect my landscaping, and always clean up impeccably (they were out leaf blowing to make sure the site was clean where they had been chipping), and they even saved my 40 year old rhododendron and patio that was in the path (although it was guaranteed). I had them back this year to remove a Douglas fur because I was so happy with Jeff's team. Highly recommend. read more

I have to write a correction. My subsequent experiences with Urban Forest Pro have been night and day since my last review. Wanting to clear up any misunderstandings, Urban Forest Pro promptly responded to my earlier review. They initially emailed a willingness to immediately try to repair our business/client relationship, but in an emailed response, I requested they wait till I felt better. They patiently did. I am amazed the work is already completed, when I only just called yesterday afternoon! They came out first thing this morning, and removed the 7 stumps I wanted gone. Their stump remover worked quickly, carefully, cleanly, and was both professional and friendly. He made it look almost easy. His equipment was tailored to his needs and in good working order. He had everything he needed to do the job with him, and needed no supervision or assistance from me. He was informative and personable while making several stumps seem to just disappear. I am very pleased with the value of the work he performed, my interactions with him, and with the staff I spoke to over the phone at Urban Forest Pro. I fell they sincerely wanted to repair any misunderstandings from our previous contact. I would feel comfortable calling them for future services, and probably will! Misunderstandings happen, but not all companies try so hard to remedy them. I respect their willingness to work with a client that they previously found to be difficult, for whatever reason. They gave me another opportunity to become a satisfyed client. I am so pleased they did. They went above and beyond my expectations. I am now a satisfied customer of Urban Forest Pro. Hopefully, a soon to be repeat customer as well! read more
