I don't shop at Harris Teeter often but when I do it's the Strickland Rd location hands down. The negative reviews are not favorable but my experience here has been nothing short of fantastic. This location has one of the best pharmacies, equipped with a Starbucks, Sushi counter, fresh bakery items and quality meats for less. I had no problem whatsoever with the produce. All fresh and on sale. I enjoy the lemon cake, chocolate croissants from the bakery and the sushi selection. The NY strip boneless steaks are cut to perfection for under $10 for 2 steaks. Harris Teeter is my go-to grocery store for most items. Also, extremely convenient when it's a quick drive from my house to the store. Staff is consistently friendly and helpful. My boyfriend wanted me to stop by the Harris teeter and get him a Starbucks. I go in and right next to the doors is a huge dead cockroach. While I'm waiting for my drink I go up to some of the staff chatting and point out the cockroach. He says it's not his department. I said "yes well, I thought you might know someone who would be in that department." So then one of the cashiers propping her head on her elbows said "there's tissues right there you can clean it up." I couldn't back down I knew what she was trying to do. Abandoning this store, as it seems they have as well. Their produce is literally rotting on the shelves and it is very common to see past-date cheeses and other items in the produce/specialty area, as well as with shelved products. I was hoping that the Publix going in would force them to step up their game - HT even went so far as to renovate to stay competitive... so it seemed like a natural progression. Unfortunately instead of rising to the top of grocery stores in that area, they've slid to the bottom. But there are many other stores within a mile or two to choose from that didn't give up. read more

This Harris Teeter is the best grocery store ever! If you want anything they will jump through hoops to get it for you. I needed ten 11 packs of Iced tea they ordered them called me when they came in. James the manager is always friendly and helpful. I shop at this Harris Teeter pretty frequently and normally the service is great. I was pretty taken back by the lack of service I received today. I stood at the customer service counter for a few minutes waiting for someone to assist me. There was an employee even possibly a manager named Jon literally standing there watching me stand at the abandoned counter. He chose not to engage with me. After I got fed up and walked off, I watched him walk behind the customer service counter where I assume he works. Pretty disappointing experience. Customer service goes a long way in business and the ball was dropped today. read more

I've been doing all of my grocery shopping here 2-3 time a week now for a year. The young people that work here (cashiers and stockers) are phenomenal-- extremely friendly, helpful, quick (once you get up there). Unfortunately, the managers are about as unfriendly as they come, specifically the person who appears to run customer service and the person who appears to run the fresh food section in the afternoons/evenings. I've had multiple encounters with each over the past year, and every time they make me feel as if I'm bothering them. It's really awful, and I have no idea how they're still in their positions or why they're even in customer service. It honestly ruins my shopping experience. Also, although the cashiers are great, checkout is most always super slow. There never appears to be anyone managing checkout lines and opening up more lanes as they get busier. I almost always wait 5-10 minutes in line with a toddler before being able to start checking out. Everything bad happening in this store seems to be a management issue. I hate switching grocery stores but I think it's time for me to check out the new Publix across the street. read more

The Strickland Harris Teeter is a solid choice for grocery shopping since the remodel. They now have a Starbucks (The Brier Creek Harris Teeter is bigger and better). There was a woman in this Harris Teeter today with a small poodle on a leash. Clearly not a service animal. Asked the manager and he said they let in emotional support animals- no problem. He also said they don't ask customers with pets why they are bringing them into the store. Shop somewhere else if you find this disgusting. read more

My husband & I have shopped at Leesville HT since moving to Springdale in 2001. The "cash" registers have recently become a problem as around 1/2 of them do not take cash. Since I only pay in cash, if none of the cash registers are free, I usually use a non-cash register and ask the clerk to take the money. Unfortunately a few times (including Friday afternoon), the clerks have refused to take cash and insist that I wait until a cash register is free and ring up my groceries all over again. I solved that problem this morning - Publix across the street has 5 working self-serve registers. I'll consider coming back to HT when they fix the registers. read more

This is for the sandwich making station. Plan on about 20 minutes to get a sandwich if there's no one ahead of you. Otherwise it'll be 30+ minutes. Add more time if anyone gets a cheesesteak. Not sure why they can't seem to make more than one at a time. I've successfully gotten a sandwich here on my lunch break 1 out of 4 tries. 3 of those I ran out of time waiting for my turn and had to just get something pre-made. read more

If I want to run to the store and grab something quickly, this is the place to go. If I want to save money, I go someplace else. The one single thing that frustrates me is that they rarely have sliced watermelon for sale even when it is advertised in the flyer. My family cannot eat an entire watermelon so I just don't buy them at the Harris Teeter. The checkout lines always move quickly and the staff is very attentive to noticing when they are not and opening another line. If you need speed, this IS the grocery to visit. For me, time is money most days, and I do shop here often. They also offer curb side pickup. I have not yet tried it, but it appears to be an even more convenient way to shop. read more

It's a harris teeter so the prices are higher than other grocery stores in the area. This particular location is very convenient to where I live so that is about all it has going for it. A couple downsides I have noticed is that their fruit selection sucks more often than not. They have what you are looking for but everything always looks (and tastes) stale. The second bad thing about this location is that the mens bathroom is amazingly gross. I honestly believe the entire bathroom needs to be torn out and redone. Reason I say that is you can tell they try and keep it clean but it just ends up smelling like cleaning agent and bathroom stench. read more

The worst grocery store in Raleigh. I routinely drive past it in favor of Foodlion because this place is so bad. They never have an Express Lane open and force you to either wait or use their self-check-out. Today I made the mistake of running in at 1pm to buy 3 tomatoes. Guess what? No express lanes open and lines with people doing their weekly shopping. I was encouraged by two employees standing in the self-check-out to use that system. I did...no label on the organic tomatoes...they had to stop watching me check out and input the code. $1.73 is the total and the self-checkout didn't accept cash....They literally employ people to watch you frustratingly perform the job they are trained to do....go figure. read more

Small store. Cramped aisles. High prices, which is ok if the products support it (here they don't). Slowest check out I've ever had. Took almost half an hour because it was Sunday morning and the employees couldn't get the coupons to scan (didn't help that every line had a person with 30 coupons holding it up). Instead of staying around to help, the manager disappeared for fifteen minutes. All lines were almost stopped. It was ridiculous. Think I will just go elsewhere. read more

The store is small, the aisles are small, and it's always crowded. I got sick once from their prepared food. Cashiers are always friendly. They offer a good selection compared to Food Lion. Their Express Lane Grocery Service is a convenient idea but has yet to be a good experience for me. Two to three times they've given me products such as meat or dairy that expire too soon--sometimes the next day. This is unacceptable. I've called and talked to the manager, James, and he assured me that it shouldn't happen, but it continues. read more

HORRIBLE manager: A cashier forgot to put my mother's groceries in the cart, but seeing how my mother had a client on the way, she had to call me from wake forest. I show up after stopping at my mother's and explain the situation, to which there was an unimaginable amount of confusion (my mother had called to notify them to hold the bag). After it finally clicked that maybe the bag i was looking for was the one that matched the description in the back, they were happy to send me on my way. After driving across town, on an empty tank, hobbling with a blister, and leaving my girlfriend at home, that manager asked me what right i had to ask for a cake. A FREAKIN CAKE, i didnt want money or some impossible retribution, i wanted the damn $10 cake for my girlfriend. The cake that goes bad in a week or two. This d0th3ad bitchouli admitted the following as i asked them: YES i am in charge here, YES one of my employees messed up, YES im only giving you what your mother payed for, NO i cant give you a cake for your trouble on our behalf. read more

Extremely poor Customer Experience on 01/15/2017 I have been a loyal customer for the past 10 years at this location. I am also a eVic member as and regularly shop the eVic deals. As it happened many times in the past the Point-of-Sale systems sometimes do not honor the published deals/discounts and the Manager is summoned to correct the situation. While this is a frustrating experience the Manager correcting the error and processing the discounts alleviates the issue. As it happened the POS system did not honor the eVic deal on Milk and this did not process the discounts amounting to about $2.00. The manager on duty (Brian) was extremely impolite and gave a convoluted reasoning and indirectly suggested that we were trying to reuse the discount. I am appalled that he could even think in such pathetically painful manner for $2.00. Harris Teeter just lost a loyal customer due to one person who is unfit to play the Manager role. I am not sure how many other Customers have faced such a horrible experience but this behavior from Brian just ruined my evening. read more
