Sadly Marsha (who I wrote about in my previous review from a few years ago) has passed away. I really miss her- no one does service like she did and I learned after she passed that she was in line to take over from the person who was in charge of the grocery pick up and was getting ready to retire. My heart goes out to her family and friends. In the past couple of years there has been a lot of turn over AND a lot of changes to the technology involved in the ordering of groceries. One tip- I now have the website bookmarked that announces that week's 4X fuel point coupon. It comes out on Wednesday for a Friday pick up. But, they no longer really tell you about it (today I got a text right AFTER I completed my order- would have been too late). So no biggie to just know to look for it, and 'clip' it when it comes out on Wednesday! read more

Best grocery store in the area. Produce is always fresh and plentiful. They have an entire cheese fridge with any assortment you could imagine. Staff is always kind and helpful. Bakery, meats, and floral are always up to bar. Always a clean store. read more

Is everyone at this HT having an off day? The cashier rounded up my purchase with a donation when I said "no thanks," effectively stealing money from me. Then the staff at the Starbucks inside the HT didnt give me one of my two drinks and I had to ask for it again at the pickup area. Looked for 6" corn tortillas and chocolate wafer cookies and could find neither. read more

When volunteering on James Island recently, I visited the Maybank Hwy. Harris Teeter several times. It's a solid option for groceries if you're on James Island, Johns Island, West Ashley, or Downtown. It's centrally located and convenient to Folly Rd. too. The store was remodeled a few years ago, but the layout is a bit different than other local HT stores. As far as amenities go, there's a Starbucks, salad bar, hot bar, pizza area, and pharmacy, but no gas station. The Starbucks has a separate seating area, and the bathrooms are clean. It's a typical Harris Teeter store with very nice employees, VIC card deals, and the lines here were short too. I'd visit again when I'm in the area. read more

This Harris Teeter is the best in the Charleston area. They have a wide variety of items in all department with great promotional specials. Ample parking and staff, clean facilities, and friendly cashiers create a great experience. I recently used the deli's order-ahead system for lunch meat. It was very user-friendly. My meat was ready before the requested time and was stored in a section of the deli refrigerator for me to pick up. They have a wide variety of all items, including fresh produce, and the Starbucks is wonderful. read more

I can still only give this location 3 stars. Some of the produce that I have bought lately has gone bad very quickly (bought a bag of clementine oranges and half were bad). The self checkout is frustrating as there is no limit but it stops regularly and requires the cashier to allow you to keep going. One cashier told me that def check is made for small amounts only. However, there is no sign for this and often it's the only option. (Due to few cashiers/long lines. I want to keep shopping Harris Teeter (as it's convenient and I like the Vic specials), but I would like to see some improvement in service and quality in 2021. read more

To no fault of Harris Teeter, the biggest headache of this grocery store is the parking lot. Always slam packed and always takes extra time to get in and out.... This Teeter location has friendly staff and the store is typically stocked well. My trip today was rare in the fact that they were out of a lot of grocery! No thyme, and not bones-less/skinless chicken thighs. I think this is due to the fact that people are freaking out about the weather.... All in all, I like this location and grocery store. This place is brimming over with food, with service and lots of specials, Harris Teeter style. This one on James Island (the 29412 zip code) is better in my opinion than the one on Savannah Highway in the St. Andrews shopping center (29407 zip). Both are quite clean and well stocked with specials, even some of those great BOGO (Buy One Get One free) bargains on things that you normally would not expect such great deals on. This store is newer, as it was the site of an old Piggly Wiggly which they literally tore down to the floor and to the walls and rebuilt it. Great job folks! They offer a bigger selection here (it seemed to me anyway) than at some of the other Harris Teeter locations that were in the area, like the one on Folly Road. People were nice, such as the flower associate, store was clean and brightly lit. Would definitely shop here again. read more

This new addition to James Island is an upgrade from the current Harris Teeter offerings in the area. With a pizza bar, larger deli and seafood section, more diverse wine and beer offerings, Starbucks with seating area and more check out options, this is a great spot. Located between Folly Road and Maybank, it is convenient for James Island and Johns Island residents and located in the same plaza as Cure, Muddy Waters, Cody's Grilled Cheese and CVS. It is a perfect stop if you want coffee or food after. The aisles are well laid out and offer space for two lane traffic. read more

The Harris Teeter on Maybank Highway on James Island is a great place to buy groceries and food. I really like the location as it is easy to get to from Folly Road or Maybank and there always seems to be available parking close to the store. The store is very well run and clean and offers fresh choices and quality food for a really good value. I like the layout of the store as everything is easy to find and I am able to do my shopping quickly and efficiently. I really like the deli section here as they have a good hot bar, fried chicken, and fresh baked pizza. The staff here is cool and laid back and does their best to enhance your shopping experience. I really enjoy doing my grocery shopping here. read more

I have hear about Harris Teeter before but I have never been in one until now. What a great supermarket, combining a bit of everything under one roof. I was able to have a coffee at the Starbucks outlet inside before wandering through a great wine and beer department, super selection of organic foods, great selection of holiday gift baskets, enormous fresh produce, and a large prepared food hall with sandwiches and salads and soups and even a pizza and cheese carousel! Made a special trip from downtown to get breakfast at the hot bar. Was supposed to be available until 10:00. At 9:30 almost all the pans were empty. When I asked if there was more food coming the girl told me they were done filling it. Instead of apologizing she gave me an attitude. Very frustrating. read more

wow! this is so new. even has that new store smell. its overwhelming when you walk in but there is a lady passing out maps. everything is set up like a regular harris teeter till you get to the produce and speciality food section. be still my heart!!! i had to buy a sub on sale of course, some doughnuts on sale of course and thru have an amazing hot bar set up. overall i do believe this will be an asset to this area. by the way so many folks here had trouble with parking. i know they have a starbuck inside but i encourage everyone to go across the parking. lot to muddy waters for your coffee! read more

This is a very large and clean Harris Teeter with a great and inexpensive ($6.99!) salad bar. $4.99 for the hot bar!

What a great HT. It's smaller than some, but it makes up for it in quality and that down home feel. The store is exceptionally clean and the staff is extremely nice. We got a slice a pizza while shopping and it was delicious! When we went to check out, additional lanes were opened up so no one waited in line. Very good job HT. read more

Awesome store! Nice bakery, spectacular meat department, amazing quality produce, yummy salad bar, huge wine selection... this store has it all. (Ok well except a pharmacy but that ok for me) Prices, especially when you shop the ads, are pretty good too. Shopping the double coupon days and buy 2 get 3 free deals are a must! The staff is super friendly and helpful. The self checkout is great and there is always someone right there in case you need some extra help with it. (Stupid please bag item alerts!) Lots of parking available and carts are always available and clean. LOVE that they have veterans' parking stalls available! read more

This Harris Teeter location is remarkably better than others I have been to. Cashiers here are always friendly and kind. Being vegan here is frustrating at times though as they only carry GoVeggie in the vegetarian section even though this is a lactose free dairy cheese. If they had some Daiya or Chao here, it would probably be the only place I would shop at. read more

Overpriced store, very rude employees, we do not need four Harris Teeter stores on James Island. Piggly Wiggly was so much better. Much lower prices. Cleaner stores, better happerier employees, great return policy, overall Harris Teeter refuses to follow their own store policies and the corporate office which is the Kroger co. Everytime I come here I get treated very well, all of the employees are very helpful and are very friendly! Also, they are very on top of giving you extra coupons even when you do not ask. Today they have me yelping because I misread a sign on the wine and they still gave me the price I thought it was!! I even went home and checked online and sure enough I was wrong but they still gave me the discount. That's just good customer service. :) read more
