I love this Harris Teeter! I can grab an egg and cheese bagel on the way to work, a box of donut's for the co-workers and come back later for lunch an grab a the "sandwich of the day" for $2.99. They also have pizza by-the-slice for about $3.00 on average, salad bar, soups (free tastings), sushi bar, panni's, and everything else your typical grocery store has to offer. The only downside to this Harris Teeter is that you have to enter through the parking garage (even if your walking). There is no entrance on the street level which is strange. Update: I love their Panni's, big enough for two meals. read more

Meh. My other option is Shoppers (terrifying); that's the only reason I shop here. Most of the employees are nice, and the lines move quickly. They have a really well stocked wine and cheese section. Unfortunately, the produce section leaves a lot to be desired, and I've accidentally purchased several expired items from the shelves. Parking is free, and you can only access the store through the underground garage. It isn't anything special, but I wouldn't tell someone to avoid shopping there either. read more

I love Harris Teeter! Ever since I moved to CA I've been missing my little grocery store. For VA, they have a great wine selection, which kept my grey wintery days and long hot summers brimming with delight. The produce is always fresh here, and I love that you have to go upstairs. I don't know, I just like standing far away looking for my magazines and Tylenol. Anyway, love the Teeter. read more

This Harris Teeter is one of the better Harris Teeters in the area. Its very clean, plenty of parking, and staff is really nice. The selection is plentful (espeically wine) and theres enough space to walk around unlike the one in pentagon city. I dont like the checkout lines because it can get pretty crowded and the asiles are really small. Other then that its a pretty nice grocery store. read more

I hate the Teeter at Pentagon Row. Mostly because I think they do a terrible job of stocking the shelves, especially the produce. This store is almost hidden and off the radar, and I hope it stays that way. Free garage parking? check. Nice staff? check. Efficient, short lines? Check. What's not to like? I mean if you want to struggle through the lots at Pentagon City or fight the insane crowds at Potomac Yards, be my guest. read more

This is probably my favorite HT in the NOVA area, and it is one of my usual grocery stopping places. The fresh fruits and veggies, bakery, and deli are probably some of the best found in the big chain grocery stores in Alexandria and Arlington. Plus, the parking garage is free (unlike the HT over at Pentagon Row) and normally not crowded at all. For the most part, this store has everything you'd need, particularly if your need is wine (holy cow, they have a spread). If I had to pick one thing that I'm not crazy about, I'd have to say the layout. It is unlike any other grocery store that I've been in, and I still get a bit turned around when I'm in a rush. Maybe once I remember where everything is, I'll appreciate the HT bucking the system. read more

When Harris Teeter first descended (ascended?) into the DC market (which at the time was dominated by Giant), it seemed like a godsend. Giant was overpriced and unimaginative. H-T had great prices and a wide selection. The main thing Giant had going for it was location. Now, 10 years later, H-T seems to have adopted GIant's former operating approach (while Giant has generally improved since it was sold to Royal Ahold). H-T has some excellent locations, including this one, located between Del Ray and Crystal City. But, the selection is lousy, they don't do a good job of keeping stapes in stock, and the prices are way above the competition's. Like a 7-11, sometimes you just need somewhere convenient, and admittedly, H-T is better than 7-11. But, in a location such as this, with a Shoppers Food Warehouse a couple blocks away, and a Giant less than 1/2 mile away, there's no reason to put up with the high prices and lousy parking. Too bad H-T has decided that it wants to gouge the DC market instead of offering a real alternative. One final gripe: They have a bin of sugar cookies for the kiddies on the way out. Complaint #1: Seriously, in this day and age, sugar cookies instead of fruit? Complaint #2: My daughter likes sugar cookies. These are inedible rocks, they made a loud banging sound when we hit it against our cart. Not sure what H-T thinks it will gain by serving stale cookies to the kiddies. But, my daughter calls this place "The grocery store with the hard cookies you can't eat." read more

I'm not a fan of Harris Teeter. I can't tell you how many times I looked at an item and thought "I can get that cheaper at Whole Foods." Why would I shop at a place like Harris Teeter if it's more expensive and the quality of the food is inferior to Whole Foods Market? I guess if you don't really care for organic foods and typically stick to conventional, mainstream brands, you might like Harris Teeter. Their selection of organic products is terrible -- they don't offer a lot of it and when they do, it's really expensive. I'd much rather stick to my combo of Trader Joe's + Whole Foods than Harris Teeter. I also have to mention that it's not just the organic products that are expensive. They were selling Breyer's ice cream for ~$6.50! WTF??? The EXACT SAME product is $2.89 at Walmart on Richmond Hwy or if you don't want to drive that far, it's $4.09 at the Target in Potomac Yard. I'm never going to go to Harris Teeter again because I absolutely have no reason to. I saw a group of young 20-somethings buying stuff for a party and they were carrying cases of Bud Light. I think that's indicative of the type of people who shop here. read more

I very much appreciate the free parking garage. I tend to frequent this location because there isn't one in MD that is close to me. It's usually very clean and stocked up in just about everything I'm looking for. The brands are a little different in some things like milk or eggs that I get at other grocery stores. Then there are products here that I can't get at other stores so it's a fair trade for the most part. The staff is always friendly and helpful here. They accept manufacturers coupons and they will double which is such a plus as a couponer. read more

The quality and freshness leaves a lot to be desired, especially compared to other HTs in the DC area. I'll skip this store next time.

The location and parking is extremely convenient. There's two entrances to the free parking garage so don't fret if you end up coming down Potomac Ave and realizing you can't enter the Glebe Rd entrance- there's another around the back. This Glebe Rd has questionable staff! I am a veteran and regularly enjoy Harris Teeter's veteran parking upfront but here there's usually a particular car there, and I've seen a staff member arriving to work in it! The staff never genuinely greet you, in fact I think they divert eye attention at most times, they speak loudly about unrelated work things in the aisles and don't seem to be there to help. But that isn't everyone. The man at the customer service counter has always been very helpful, I love the pharmacist, and I have a particular fondness for the Seafood guys (Do double check they ring in the correct fish though!!) This Harris Teeter is not five stars because of the attitude of the staff, and the quality of some of their meats and fruits. On more than one occasion I've purchased fruits/veggies from here that I assumed were good and then I get home and realize my apples are all soft or I don't think these blueberries are quite right. My shaved beef steak has gone bad after a day which is just weird. The beauty aisle has a surprising amount of choices despite its size. I wish they would spruce up their frozen vegetable aisle whoever is in charge of their purchasing needs to keep a better inventory. With the new Giant opening in my neighborhood of Potomac Exchange I will most likely switch to Giant. Until a Wegman's come into town I'm really just settling for second best! read more

Everyone from the pharmacists to the staff, are very friendly and helpful. I don't think I've ever had a difficult time with anyone who works there. It's also a very clean store and will-kept! Thank you! read more

Boy do I miss you guys! This is one of the most convenient HTs out there. parking is free and underground. The store itself had one of the best wine and beer selections around, and the staff were always super helpful. Counting down the days til they reopen!!!! read more

We are temporarily staying in a condo above HT. If I were rating on convenience I'd give it 5 stars! Unfortunately convenience doesn't equate to quality service. The people behind the deli, sushi, pizza, bakery and meat/ seafood counters have all been super...Very nice and very helpful. As for the cashiers not so Much. Save one really nice young guy that we see sometimes. I have now witnessed 6 occasions where a checker was extremely over the top rude to a customer. A couple of the customers were terrible and I could see why the checkers would have been irritated. Even so, none of those situations were handled professionally at all. Most concerning to me is that the other situations all involved elderly people. Two of them were just moving slow (this is what 70-85 year- olds are known for people! If we don't die young we all get old), the other asking if she received her ViC discount (just being mindful of her money,.shame on her!), and another asking why an item rang up as something other than what it actually was...This one gets its own story: Lady: "why did something ring up as turkey? I don't have any turkey." Cashier: (in a very snotty voice)holds up item in her hand and said, " I have no idea. I just scan em and whatever they Ring up as is what it is." Lady: "but it's not going to be the correct price." Cashier: "I Don't know what to tell you!" As she finishes ringing up groceries and cutting off the lady to tell her the amount due. *cashier never offered to find out what rang up incorrectly or to call for assistance. Said lady left store with her groceries shaking her head. SMH, Mean mean cashier! Besides the blatant rudeness I've just described it is very typical for the cashiers to not even look at you, say nothing during your transaction and then mumble something about have a good afternoon while they hand you the receipt. Cashiers...Really HT? For the prices you charge you can't do better than this for training and customer service? The sales are great values...when you can find the items marked as they are in your emails and flyers. Forget asking anyone where the advertised sale items are. The sweet "flower girl" has left her post twice now to try and help me find produce not marked correctly. We never did find it either time. Cleanliness is very good. Variety is excellent. Normal prices are very expensive except for organic produce and sale items. read more

Another Harris Teeter that I enjoy shopping at....and if you can catch a sale, it just makes the shopping sweeter. I like to head to this location when I have a massage appointment upstairs. I can just pick up some fresh veggies, seafood, and wine before I head home. The set up of this store is a little weird when you first walk in. Somehow, it just feels like its backwards. Typically you expect to see the cash register right in front of you in a when you enter the grocery store...but not at this location. The parking is a bit different as well. Probably because it is in a garage and not a regular lot. I never have problems finding parking though, so its all love here. read more

There was a sewage dump here that shut the place down for a looong time, which was unfortunate. We live across the street from a crappy Giant and wanted so bad to be somewhere near a Harris Teeter, so when it reopened we were thrilled! This is like our Ballston Harris Teeter, except it ups the fancy-pants. It is very ritzy with wood floors in places, big and clean, and they even have a pizza station! And lots of free samples everywhere which always makes the grocery store experience even better. They did NOT have sashimi grade tuna though. There isn't an incredible amount of things to say that haven't already been said. I do appreciate the free parking - the Harris Teeter in Crystal City has meters in their parking lot! Annoying. But the garage is kind of confusing and an cluster-F. I never find going to places with narrow garages to be pleasant, so -1 star for that. Within a 2-mile radius of Old Town, I think that this is the best grocery store available - the fact that it requires a car though means we will probably not go there that frequently. read more

Love this Harris Teeter! Lots of things to choose from! I love how they have a hot bar where you can just grab a hot meal to go if you're coming from work and just tired to prepare something at home. Very attractive and clean environment. I'll be honest, it was a bit weird navigating around the store. Its not your normal grocery store layout. I must say that they have an extensive selection of all types of wine. Its a huge section. I love how the parking garage is free. I live much closer to the Harris Teeter at Pentagon Row, but I hate how the parking lot is so small and only offers one hour of parking. I know that I can still go to their garage and park there, but it too only offers an hour of free parking. I'll make sure to come to this Harris Teeter in Potomac Yard. Overall, its a great location! Free garage parking, a wide selection, friendly staff, etc! read more

Brand new and state of the art! I just visited this store for the first time. It is modern and clean. The deli is nice and the meat and seafood counters appealing. Big produce dept too. The aisles are wide too. This is a notch above the other quite nice Harris Teeters in the area - it'll be tough to decide whether to go here or to Trader Joes as my regular grocery destination. Free parking in the garage with no need to validate. read more

This location seems to have really gone down hill in the last few months. The quality of the produce has hit rock bottom. I'm very disappointed. read more

If you live in Crystal City or Del Ray, this is probably your best bet when it comes to grocery shopping. Parking is underground, protected from the elements, and best of all is free. Selection is usually pretty good, although the produce can sometimes be pretty hit-or-miss. There are definitely times when I can't find a single Fuji apple without major bruising. The meat selection is too basic and does not ever seem to have ground pork or veal. However, this is a surprisingly extensive array of ethnic and international foods, and the gourmet cheese counter is pretty nice. Service is generally good with some exceptions. Most the time, people are very friendly and are glad to help you look for what you need. Despite being a higher-end grocery store, there are surprisingly never any baggers, which makes the lines go pretty slow. Also, keep an eye on your receipt because there are frequent pricing mistakes (specials and promotional prices are often not automatically reflected on the register, so the manager has to come and make a manual adjustment). Also, I suggest that you avoid a grocery checker named Patti R. She is rude, unfriendly, and needs a major attitude adjustment. When I'm ready to check out, I just make sure I'm not in her line. read more

3.5 stars for now ! I came to this location last night as I was just in the mood to shop in peace :). I have been to this location a couple of times and notice it doesn't draw as big of crowds like the ones closer to home. This location is 24 hours has a parking garage and it is FREE. It may be little hard to find as it is not a stand alone location so just look out for the sign outside . I came about 8pm the store was not crowded at all . The store was clean and bathroom was extremely clean which is rare in public places! They even have a little button you push if the restroom needs attention (good idea) . Items were stocked well and the food was fresh . The staff seemed pleasant I didn't have much interaction only with cashier. I'm not sure what time the seafood section closes but I think they were about to close , I noticed the guy working made sure anyone who came over to buy or just to peep got assistance if needed. I didn't get any last night but the marinated salmon looked really fresh! I feel they offer way more variety here as oppose to the Potomac Avenue location. Now on to the 3.5 stars.......... I had already had my list together before hand and had based it off of the new sale which starts every Wednesday . I found my self getting frustrated as half of the signs were not posted and even found a couple of contradicting signs on some items. The first couple I let go but as I continued so did the lack of sale signs . I thought well it just started today but that was no excuse as it was almost 9 when I left . I had to keep going back to the sale paper to see if I was tripping ( I wasn't lol) . I hadn't experienced this in the past but hopefully this was just a one time thing because if not I can see that being a problem because I'M ALL ABOUT A SALE !!! Also my cashier seemed like he should have been in bagging class still. He bagged items together that should not have been and I had to ask him continuously to double my bags because he threw so many groceries in one. I know the protocol get as much in the bag but at some point you have to have common sense and no its going to rip ... and yupp as I picked one up it starting tearing :(. This location is about 15mins away and honestly I will most likely continue to drive either here or the Navy Yard location. read more

Harris Teeter - Bathroom need cleaning ..Just Press the button - Grocery Near Me - Arlington, Virginia

You can't hate on an old friend. Though prices are higher than Giant, Safeway & Trader Joe's, Harris Teeter is my neighbor grocery. Or more accurately, my basement roommate. And it's a great one! The produce is fresh, pharmacy nice, seafood & meat options sufficient, and it has most everything you could want...even a seasonal section right when you walk in. It also has a nice floral section, sushi bar, salad bar, hot bar and a large seating area if you'd like to stay a while. Let me know if you stop by! read more

Harris Teeter - Fresh Produce! - Grocery Near Me - Arlington, Virginia

LOVE. That is the feeling I have towards this grocery store. I think Erin W. pretty much summed up most of the great features of this store. It's always sparkling clean and bright when you walk in, and the display and freshness is great. The wine selection is amazing for a grocery store. The selection is sometimes limited, but only by the fact that its not a tremendously huge store. The 24-hour thing is the best part for me, as I have a thing for shopping at 3am. Don't ask. Oh, and as a side note, I heard a special on NPR recently where they did same brand/same item price comparisons at a bunch of DC grocery chains, and Harris Teeter came out as the 2nd cheapest, after Giant! I've always felt that they were really reasonably priced, especially for the sort of upscale-feel that they have, but they beat out Safeway and Shoppers by a long shot, which is awesome! I can't find a link to anything on the NPR site, but I can tell you that last on the list (no surprise to most) was Whole Foods. Boo to expensive cardboard cereal! read more

This Harris Teeter (which claims to have just opened recently) is disgusting. The employees are usually angry to see customers come in and you can definitely tell they hate being there. The other day, I went to use the self scanner in order to avoid communicating with any of the employees. Of course the machine didn't take my cash so I pressed to "call attendant" button several times. Now, with a few people getting upset behind me in line, I watched the attendant (who was at the stand) laughing with his coworker. Then he got visibly annoyed when my boyfriend asked for him to come over. This is one example of MANY. I have seen molded bread and expired milk that I almost bought. The produce is often times, beaten up and does not appear to be fresh. The only reason I put up with this place is because its down the street from where I live now. read more

So on my first visit, I apparently over estimated the items I'd need during my stay. Now that things are winding to an end, I must return the stuff I don't need, especially since I did add to my already full suitcase with those souvenirs! Return policy: straight forward as long as you have a receipt. They were even able to accept a refrigerated item! Lotto Machine: Being in another state, I thought, hey, might as well try the lotto over here! Their lotto machine could use some maintenance/improvement. It wouldn't read the guy's lotto slips. This happened at least 3 times. Goodness, this significantly slowed down the line, especially since he had around 10 slip to process. It almost made me want to say, forget it and leave, but I was at the point of, I might as well stick around since I've waited through 3/4 his stack. Nonetheless, I'd still go here for grocery shopping; maybe not so much for the lotto unless there's no line. read more

This used to be my favorite grocery store. Prices seem a little above average but it was really nice and uncrowded inside. Don't think I'll be going back though after the sewage flooding incident (just a mental thing). Update 3/3/15 - This is my favorite store again read more

A few months ago the other Harris Teeter didnt have what I wanted but I was told I could come to this one. The service was outstanding and the pharmacist actually called my insurance company and got them to take my percriptions. These people know what they are doing! read more

In line with Harris Teeters across the DMV, this HT provides a nice shopping experience, some good discounts, and great hot bar. I'm not a fan of the parking garage - it's a tad crowded and you will get the occasional driver who pulls up and blocks you in while waiting for their shopping mate. The store layout is a tad different and you can smell the seafood in large swaths of the store - they might have had an off day when I was there or just bad fish. Good thing I was just there to get Mac and cheese ingredients. read more

Harris Teeter's tends to be a little more pricy than Giant. However, I enjoy this store because it is always clean, organized, there is free parking, it is inside, there is a Redbox, it is usually not very packed, and they always have what I need. But most important to me, the store has an excellent sushi bar. It is always fresh and if you get there before the sushi chefs leave they will make you what you are looking for on the spot. They will continue to get my business here! read more

I absolutely love this Harris Teeter its so clean and tidy. Very convenient and the staff is extremely helpful and nice. I grocery shop and eat lunch here almost everyday. Sometime when I do events at my job I get it catered by Harris Teeter and I buy all my wine and beer from there as well. It's a one stop shop! Best grocery store in the area I love it! read more

My grocery store. Great friendly people and always has what I need and open 24/7!!!!!

I love this particular location! They've always have easy parking and the store is well laid out. I especially like the sushi they make on site and the sandwiches are nice when venturing out for a picknic. The produce selection is always fresh and the prices are decent, but not the best. They've also got a nice meat section, but Wegmans in Fairfax wins in the meat department because they vacuum pack their meat. That means longer shelf times than conventional styrofoam and plastic wrap. The wine selection at this store is amazing and the prices are pretty good, too. This is a nice store to pop into to grab a bottle before going to a friend's house for dinner. Bottom line, The deli, produce, and wine selection stand out at this store. Parking is easy and it's always open. What's not to love? read more

This is my favorite HT location. I think it's because it's just small enough that I know where everything is and just large enough for me to find everything I need. I too was distraught to find out that it temporarily closed. I am now shopping at the Shirlington location, (which I really don't care for). But, while there, I spoke to a guy who normally works that the Potomac Yards location . He said that may be four months (or more) before the HT re-opens. Aside from the massive clean-up, the store will be completely remodeled. And that will make it even more awesome! read more

A decent grocery store...if you can get to it. It's so easy to miss the small entrance on Glebe Road that takes you to the underground parking lot from which you can enter this hidden Harris Teeter. And once you get in, it's kind of squeezed into a small space. It can be cramped with tight corners, but not as cramped as the Harris Teeter in Shirlington. Honestly, if you can make it here, you can make it to the Harris Teeter in Pentagon City or the Harris Teeter in Old Town Alexandria, both of which put this one to shame. read more

Harris Teeter is a silly name, an amalgam of Harris and Teeter. I feel bad for poor Mr. Teeter. This particular Harris Teeter is a little silly. You can only enter through the parking lot. The organization of the store is very disorientating. I have a good sense of direction but I've been here three times and am still confused when I try to find items. In terms of selection: Harris Teeter has a very large selection of wines. (I don't know anything about wine so I can't say "very good." Not quite as much wine as your typical grocery store in California, but lots of wine nonetheless). Beer selection is ok. Produce is kind of lacking. They may have a wide range of offerings, including many obscure tropical fruits and a small "local" food section offering the best produce from the Garden State, which, last time I checked, wasn't exactly the same "local" people in the Local Food movement had in mind. Unfortunately, most of the produce isn't great quality. Prices are too steep for lower quality produce. Harris Teeter also has a wide range of canned and prepared foods. The employees here are by far the friendliest I have ever encountered at a grocery store. Almost off-putting in that I kind of feel like I've wandered into an alternate universe where people genuinely care about how you feel. Can't beat the hours (24 of them). I'm torn, because I want to rate this place higher, but I don't want to pay that much for inferior quality. read more

Don't let the fact that this sushi place is in a grocery store fool you. Harris Teeter makes good sushi. If you get there early enough, they always havea wide variety to choose from. The more I go here the more I hate this Harris Teeter. Last week when we were there the produce section was a disaster. They were out of broccoli, and zucchini. I looked at the eggplants, and they were all bruised. The avocados were already overripe. I could go on and on, this happens every weekend and we always have to supplement our vegetables with going to Whole Foods. We've had to become very paranoid about shopping for their meat, it's often very close to the sell by date or even past it. Once I got ground turkey from them that was rotten a week earlier than the sell by date. Lastly, I'll add that last weekend, they had one cashier working, and there was a line growing to be about 10-15 people. There were managers at the front of the store and other cashiers doing something else, just watching the line get longer and longer. It took them at least 10 minutes to open another lane. read more

Best Harris Teeter in the area. It's clean, well organized, well stocked, and the employees are friendly and helpful. It's far better that the one in Pentagon City.
