I always find the items I need but it might be on a different form or brand. That is what I like about aldi -- the brands always changes therefore you get to experience different items that you didn't try. They have everything you need as a typical grocery store but with plenty of space to walk around. Must have are their chocolates --- they have great German chocolate that are to die for. No complaint as they have a shared parking space with CVS with one way entrance and exit. Great choice as it does not get too busy as other Aldi stores in the nearby cities. read more

Sorry Aldi.... This location is spacious, and for a weekend... shelves are not stocked well. It's a weekend and the limited wine and beer selection was disappointing. The produce wasn't as fresh as I would have anticipated for a Sunday early afternoon and there is a very limited health & beauty section - just the staple items. While I'm a regular customer of our Aldi in NE DC/Carver Langston, I have visited this Aldi a few times as my sister lives down the street. Compared to the DC Aldi, this store is not great. - Less availability of some items compared to DC, such as meat items - Some items expired but still on the shelves - A box of egg cartons was full but ALL CARTONS inside contained broken eggs - No one seems to be available if you need assistance (one visit had 3 associates chatting together, and they stare at you should you ask for help); other staff don't seem efficient or friendly (during one visit the cashier scanned in my carton of eggs, but for some reason didn't include it in my cart with my other purchases; when I went back to ask about it, she replied, oh I put it back on the shelf... huh?) read more

This is going to be my Friday mid afternoon store. Clean, quiet and well stocked! Sane parking lot. Very friendly staff. I was actually stopped by a staffer and asked if I needed any help! Well alright! They have all the regular stuff you find at an Aldi's. Wine section might be a tad smaller, but they usually produce, many organic options everywhere. The odd Aldi Finds. But it was quiet, clean, stock and sane on Friday at 3 pm. Now the checkout person said the storm hits at 5 on Fridays but other Aldi's are often already a bit crazy by now. Happy shopper. Great little neighborhood market within walking distance of our home. Prices can't be beat, especially for meat, organic produce, and milk alternatives! They have a simple stock of things that are always here, which covers most of what a family would need. Then there is a section of random food and products that come sporadically, and it's always fun to check out. I bought seven pounds of chicken, pound of steak, pound of pork, 20 slices of bacon, two packages of Nathan's hot dogs for under $34. Recvd 2 stars for location, had my items and ambiance - clean and well stocked. 3- NOs for customer service, safety and cashier interaction (multitasking, already working on another customer - where both that customer and cashier were 'pushing' me out the door). SPEED over customer service & safety is not a good way to earn stars. BELOW IS WHAT I SEND TO THE STORE ON-LINE AND CORPORATE ALDI. Please have your cashier staff SLOW DOWN and not push customers out. Please advise customers they can not early pre swipe cc while another customer is still engaging with the cashier. I was early swiped by a customer and it shocked me and also felt my personal space and a my safety was a concern - personal safety and credit card safety is key. The cashier was going so fast and telling me all is ok and safe while swiping the products of the other customer and putting in the basket my items were in. SO I SAY BOTH WER PUSHING ME OUT OF THE LANE AND OUT THE DOOR! I am a white older women - what many call a Karen - I was upset because of the fast pace and lack of customer service - OPEN SELF CHECK OUT OR SLOW DOWN!!!! I could NOT move the cart as the cashier was putting the next customers items in the cart. --- And again, concerned the guy behind me swiped my info off the reader. --- I then spoke with the Manager on Duty. Yes, I made a scene as I was in Shock how the customer reached OVER me to tap his card.... And how the cashier Arthur defended him and tried to explain while doing two-three things at once. My safety is key (both personal body & financial) STOP and help me understand and the other customer can be upset. I know the cashiers are timed and that is not my concern. Arthur was very nice, just in a HURRY and made a poor customer service choice either on his own or through his corporate training. And wanting to get more pay, bonus or promotion due to SPEED and efficiency .... And CS should be in there. Also the other woman cashier on duty MADE me - DIRECTED STRONGLY - that I MOVE to the new line. Yes, keep it going as a cattle call. I was not in a hurry..... I shop other ALDIs and will NOT return to this one. I understand this one is high volume and not customer service focused - it is not a neighborhood store. It is the closet to my home; but the one on Duke St and South Rt 1 Alexandria is where I will continue to shop. For a quick in/out $8, it is NOT worth 30+ minutes of after shopping stress! She said she also reviews credit card fraud - with an audit, especially for those early swipers. Well, that does me NO good if my card IS compromised. I was really pleasantly surprised with ALDI. I had never been to one prior to this and had definitely heard some mixed reviews from others about the whole concept. I am honestly a fan. Super no frills, but that's A OK with me. I was impressed with their produce selection and their cheeses. I liked seeing a lot of healthier options for less $$ than most grocery stores. I would definitely come here on a regular basis. I would make this my first stop in my weekly round of grocery shopping so that way if they do not have something in their limited stock you can grab it somewhere else. For its first year of operation this was a wonderful store, but over the last 6 months I believe it has gone precipitously downhill, and is rarely sufficiently staffed or stocked. Today I had another TERRIBLE experience at the Monroe AVE store--while it took me less than 10 minutes to collect my items for purchase, I then waited in line for 10 minutes before learning I had to change checkout lines--the line for my checkout register had somehow forked down two separate aisles. I moved to another checkout line and again waited approximately 5 minutes before being informed that this line, too, had forked and had people lined up in two separate aisles clear to the back of the store. Despite nearly every customer in the store being in line for checkout, rather than actually browsing or shopping, only three registers were staffed, and multiple shelves were empty or--in the case of the dairy aisle--occupied only by vacant cardboard boxes. I eventually gave up--I had been in the store for nearly an hour for what should have been a 12-minute trip. I placed the items I had collected on the unmanned checkout belt closest to the person I believed to be the store manager. When he looked at me, I told him,"I'm sorry, but 25 minutes to check out for a few items is longer than I can give today." He replied, "Yes, when you picked the heaviest shopping time of the week." Funny--I've shopped the same time every Sunday for months and never noticed it to be especially busy, though chronically understaffed and understocked. I used to love this store, and talked it up to all of my neighbors and area friends when it opened. No more--it is not representative of the quality and great customer service I experience at the other area Aldi locations. read more

I was skeptical before I visited the Kenmore Aldi a few months ago but I'm a fan and this location is even closer to Arlington. You can get most of what you can at a regular store only mostly with their top quality store brands rather than name brands. I've liked pretty much everything I've tried there so check this place out to save money and get your shopping done quickly since the store is smaller than your average store. Be sure to bring a quarter to borrow a cart and bring some reusable bags since they don't have plastic or paper bags like a regular store. read more

Ever since we heard Aldi was moving into the Del Ray hood where the old crappy Giant was, we were thrilled! The store is actually quite nice for an Aldi (we lived near one in Chicago), and has everything you expect a basic grocery store to have. Keep in mind that most of the stuff here is private label, like Trader Joe's so they stock only a few national brands. That said, the prices are extremely cheap if you buy their private label brands. You can get a bottle of their generic Srircha sauce for like $2.35, when I bought a bottle recently for $4.50 at Whole Foods. read more

I have a love-hate relationship with Aldi. The prices on food items are really good, 78 cents for 12 eggs common! The problem however, is many of the items I want to buy are always out of stock or not carried. It also frustrates me that while flowers are an amazing price at $3.99 a bouquet they are more times than not rather dead looking. A note for shoppers if it is your first time here they do not provide shopping bags so make sure to bring your reusable ones with you! They can't seem to keep regular items stocked so you often can't get what you come for and the customer service here is awful. They pride themselves is being "efficient" but I'd much rather pay a little more to get good service. Random location near Braddock Road Metro with plenty of parking. So for what it is, this place is perfect. Price Comparison After comparing Aldi's prices to those at Safeway, Harris Teeter, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and Giant, Aldi 100% offers the same prices OR CHEAPER than all of the aforementioned competitors. And while we can't do ALL of our grocery shopping here because they don't offer ethnic food items or speciality products, it is fantastic for things like: applesauce, nuts, fresh produce, cheese, wine, beer, frozen seafood, and chocolate. Example of Limited Selection There are only 2 brands of chocolate bars to choose from. One brand is from Germany and is only $1.29/bar and the quality FAR exceeds that of any American brand, but they only offer 2 varieties (plain milk chocolate or hazelnut). The second brand is one no one has ever hear of, but they have over a dozen unique flavors (from 99% dark to chocolate almond) and it is quite delicious, plus only $2 for a large bar. They only have 1 to 2 checkout lines open, but the line moves very quickly. You have to bag your own groceries and bring your own bags, although they do sell reusable frozen bags there. read more

Inflation update, if you selectively shop the price is right and the line moves. Organic eggs, pineapples, avocados, bananas and mayo are way cheaper here. I checked out what I what I thought was about $200 to $250 of groceries and a packed full cart. Grand total $93!!! Other pros - (1) EASY PARKING. Safeway, Harris Teeter, Trader Joe's, and Whole Foods all have miserable parking garages that take 10 minutes to get in and out. (2) WIDE AISLES, no awkward game of chicken with person coming in the opposite direction because there's barely enough space for two carts. (3) NOT TOO CROWDED. No stress of a billion people roaming the aisles. ($) CLEAN and ORGANIZED. Tips- (1) BRING YOUR OWN BAGS, (2) Bring a quarter for the carts, (3) don't expect people to be walking the aisles to help you find stuff (4) There's usually own one checkout line open, so you have to wait at the end; however, the store is not as popular as others, so it's usually just a couple people checking out in front of you. (5) It's lots of off brand. That said, the quality is better than store brand from places like Giant and Safeway. read more

Is it weird to love a grocery store? Well call me weird, because I love Aldi. This store is becoming my go to- there a quite a few in the area though! I prefer this store for several reasons 1. Parking - parking here is a dream compared to other Aldis that I've been to. The parking lot is spacious and isn't a sh*t show with a million other cars and people everywhere (sometimes it's the little things in life, ya know?) 2. The store is really clean and the aisles are spacious. Some other stores are crowded and dirty. You can tell it's a new store. 3. The staff is really friendly. Sometimes it can be hit or miss at others, but I've found the staff to be very pleasant. 4. This store has items that I've seen online but haven't been able to find at other locations Overall I love it and I'll be back. If you aren't familiar with Aldi here are the basics: put a quarter in the cart (you get it back at the end), BYOB (bring your own bags- pro tip: bring a laundry basket actually, so much easier) and shop your heart out and save lots of $$$$ and get great produce. I went in today. I'm from New York and didn't realize you need to pay a quarter for the shopping carts. I grabbed one that was laying around. This man started screaming at me from across the store. I told him I didn't realize you needed to pay but he continued to be a jerk. I really wanted to give him a piece of my mind but I just went about my shopping. BEWARE: Aldi has great prices on almost everything in the store. I have been shopping at this store since it opened a couple of years ago. The reason I am rating this store so low is because they have a habit of not having items, usually meat, that they advertise in their weekly flyer sent to my home. The manager of this store always claim they have the items but can't sell them because they don't scan correctly at the checkout. This has happened at least a dozen times, on Wednesday (the first day the ad is in effect). I don't know what Aldi's problem is, but it smacks of "bait and switch", because I always have to settle for some other non-sale item. If Aldi can't fix this problem, stop publishing food ads, stop listing these items on your app. Just call it what it is "catch as catch can", that's what it is! read more

I love, love Aldi and I was excited to try this new location. It has a big parking lot and it is really pretty and new inside. It is bigger with more stuff than the location I usually go to in DC. It also seems like maybe it is a little pricier on SOME items than the DC location but there is also more stuff so I guess it's a tradeoff. It is also a lot less busy and crowded than the DC location. If you are looking for something particular - you might not find it here. But if you want basic staples for less $$ this is the place for you! read more

I really miss my little Giant on Monroe St. I had high hopes for Aldi because I love a small store where I can pop in and out quickly for the basics....and it does serve that purpose. But beyond a place to grab eggs, milk and butter, it's not drawing me in for healthy choices. Too many of the offerings are high sodium, high calorie prepared foods. Plus, the packaging - cleverly designed to mimic that of major brands - is a real turn-off. If you want to have your own brand, create your own design. And, be careful exiting the parking lot. A line of cars are always parked on E. Monroe - between Aldi and CVS - right up to the driveway. If there is an SUV or truck in that first space, as there has been on the several occasions I've visited, you can't see traffic heading east. Super dangerous. read more

I love ALDI so much!! My favorite grocery store by far and I preach it's gospel to the world. You will pay much, much less here for all of your groceries, and their produce is 100% organic with no pesticides. Some of my favorite items here are: - bags of Granny Smith apples with about 10 apples for only $3.99 - their thick-cut applewood smoked bacon is the BEST brand I've ever found and I'm a bacon connoisseur (it's better than the expensive stuff at Whole Foods) - their Greek yogurt (especially the Banana Cream and Lemon Meringue flavors; it's just as satisfying as ice cream) - inexpensive trail mixes of all kinds - $7.99 Belleto Prosecco (if you're lucky, they might even have the rose bubbly in stock) And many, many more. Too many too list. But my favorite thing about ALDI is what I like to call the Random Things aisles! They have so many homegoods, clothes, toys, etc., and nearly everything I have bought from it has been a total gem! (The few things I haven't enjoyed once I got home, they will take back for a full refund, even opened.) I have bought slippers, scented candles, fuzzy-lined leggings, jean leggings, sneakers, my son's backpack (purchased after his expensive Steve Madden one had the zipper break in under a month; ALDI's is going strong 7 months later and for only $6), champagne flutes, a dog-food bin on wheels, a patio umbrella, lawn equipment... the random things list goes on and on. It is so fun to see what new items come in each week! Word of advice: if you see it and are on the fence about the purchase, just get it- the item will be out of stock next week, they sell out so fast. Yes, there are just a few "negatives", although it's hard to criticize such a wonderful store and these "negatives" are the very things that allow prices to remain so low. You need to bring your own bags (and bring a lot bc I always find myself needing more than I intended). You have to bag your own stuff (I actually like this part so I can ensure I don't smash my own groceries). You need a quarter to get a cart, and you have to return the cart to get the quarter back. There is no one to assist you in the aisles or ask if something is out of stock- they only have a few employees working to keep costs low. None of these "negatives" deter me from shopping at my favorite grocery store, ALDI. read more

Aldi is a different kind of grocery store. This is seriously no-frills shopping. You won't be able to find someone to help you locate items, and you can't count on things always being in stock. If you have your heart set on cooking certain things on certain days in a given week, it is not the store for you. If you are willing to take a look at what looks good and is in stock this week, it will work fine, and you will be really happy with the pricing and the freshness of the produce. You can't beat the low price on watermelons in the summer and pumpkins in the fall. The produce is consistently good. If you need to buy gluten-free items, they have a nice selection. My husband likes their bagels better than any others, including Trader Joe's, which you would think were made in the same place. I prefer the Trader Joe's pastas, though. read more

Being a devoted Trader Joe's shopper, I wasn't sure what to expect as a customer going to the new Aldi's in the Delray neighborhood. I was put off a bit when I found out that you can not call the store directly (if anyone knows differently, I'd like to know about it). But, having read a number of rave reviews, and the fact that it is less than a mile from my residence, I decided to give it a try. Then I encountered the second seemingly odd thing about the store, which is the 25 cent refundable "deposit" to use their shopping cart. But, then I realized the genius of it -- all the carts were where they are supposed to be, in front of the store, rather than scattered all over the parking lot. Just remember to have a quarter with you -- you'll get it back. The mechanism of depositing the quarter directly into the handle of the shopping cart which releases it to be used is simple but brilliant. Now, the shopping experience -- the store is exceptionally clean, well-organized, and well-stocked. In my approximately 4 visits, I have never been unable to find an item I needed. And, the quality of the items they stock is top-notch. What is most astounding is the low, low prices throughout the store -- I mean jaw dropping! One example: did you ever buy a Pinot Grigio (Winking Owl, a California wine) for $2.98 a bottle? And, best part -- be extremely pleased with how well it compares to wines at $10 - $15 / bottle? I could go on -- but better yet, if you haven't been to our local Aldi's, get there soon! I'll still hit up Trader's for some items that are iconically Trader's -- but for a quick run to an EXCELLENT grocery, Aldi's is at 425 E. Monroe Av. read more
