Moved in down the street last year and finally stopped by the other night for an impromptu birthday dinner. Great wine, pâté was amazing! Entrees were good, I like the relaxed vibe. I'm sure we'll be back

Shepherd's Pie here at La Fromagerie was awesome, as with everything on the menu here. Service also great as usual.

Shepherd's Pie was really good, as was the service, also as usual, here at La Fromagerie. Such a great local place that would be great ANYWHERE.

A great comfy wine and cheese shop in old town Alexandria. Came in on a Sunday afternoon and was able to get seated right away. Around 5p it started to pick up and there were no empty seats available. Which impacted the service it took us forever to get the check. I think they are just short staffed and are overwhelmed. The actual service we got was great. Our waitress gave us a whole bunch of recommendations on wines cheeses to try. The wine was very delicious and I recommend getting a flight. They even poured us a little bit more because I was sharing with my girlfriend. It has a very relaxed and quiet vibe to the place. A great wine bar to visit while you are in Old Town!

Stop by for what we thought was gonna be a quick bite to eat but we were still too full from lunch earlier so we decided to get a flight of wine. The hostess and server were very knowledgeable in the wine department and was able to help us pick out a flight that we would both enjoy definitely would want to come back and explore a little bit more of their menu

I've visited a few times, although this is my first review here. Prices are on the higher side, but that's to be expected for a French bistro-type experience. I perused the wine menu and asked for a few recommendations to go with my roast duck. The variety they offer is interesting, including wines from regions I never otherwise have tried. I like how the wine menu is well laid-out so everything is easily explained. I really enjoyed the duck; the cheese plates are also really good. While technically it's a different store, I also liked being able to go to their sister-store wineshop next to them and get a tasting of wines that were being sampled.

Enjoyed the cheese plate and wine here. The service was really friendly as well. We loved the soft cheese with the local honey.

I was in town visiting friends, but this spot was very busy. The hostess was beyond friendly, and actually suggested other neighborhood spots we should try. Since she was SO kind, I came back to La Fromagerie the next night, and the same hostess remembered me!! It was less busy, so I was able to immediately get a table. I treated myself to a lovely "girl dinner" of wine and cheese. The soft cheeses were especially good, and my Pet Nat wine was delicious. Great space and great service!

Located just off the bustle of King St., Brut sits unassumingly among the Old Town townhomes. You could easily walk past, and not notice it at all. But, if you've dialed in Brut as your destination, be prepared to step in to an oenophile's wet dream. The establishment is both a bottle shop and a wine bar. Every bottle in the joint is carefully curated. There is no junk...no fluff...no quid to subsidize quo...all excellence, from any country or region your heart may desire. Do your Christmas shopping here, for sure. That shopping is going to make you thirsty, so pony up to the small but well appointed bar. Its no easy thing to find a bar with a good "wine by the glass" list, but Brut manages that task with ease. From your sauvignon blancs, through the pinots, to full bodied reds...take a flight of fancy, and walk home well fortified. Since the bar is small, and seats are at a premium, the owner Dustin does a masterful job of weeding out the Riff-raff. Trust me when I say that watching it is far better than TV. I cannot recommend this cool little spot more highly. Maybe I'll see ya there sometime!

We were completely overlooked and had to go up to the bar ourselves to ask for menus and water. The food itself was decent. The Hot Artichoke Dip was creamy and served with pita. The Pacific Coast Salmon was well-cooked and paired nicely with mushroom risotto and vegetables. The Cinnamon Ice Cream tasted good. Where things really fell apart was the service and timing. We planned to enjoy dessert at the restaurant and also order takeout, but there was confusion and staff assumed the ice cream was to-go. The wait times were excessive: 40 minutes for ice cream 15 additional minutes for salmon takeout Another 10 minutes for the artichoke dip By the end of the visit, the delays and lack of attention made the experience feel frustrating and not worth it. Overall, while the food was okay, the service and long wait times significantly impacted the experience. I would not return.

I would note water bugs are a huge issue at this restaurant, but that's just because you are on the pier and sitting on/near the water but the water bugs are constantly hovering you and getting in your food and drinks. Unfortunately, our group of 4 was sat and then we did not get to order food for another 15 minutes after getting our water. Once we ordered, Our group got a few appetizers to share for the table and along with a cocktail each, but it was disappointing because we did not get our cocktails until after the table finished the appetizers. Except for those at the bar, the seating is so low that you end up staring at the wall rather than the skyline. Food & Drink: The menu is quite limited because there's no kitchen on the rooftop. Most dishes are prepared downstairs and brought up, which contributes to slower service. That said, the drinks are excellent--perfect for enjoying a cocktail with a view. However, there are no hot drink options available upstairs, which becomes an issue during the cooler months. Reservation: The rooftop becomes extremely busy around sunset, so reservations are highly recommended. Of the roughly 20-25 seating areas, only 4-6 have heaters or firepits, so if you're visiting in fall or winter, try to request one of those spots when booking or bring blankets. Why not five stars?
