We went with high hopes as the shop looked cute and had some solid reviews however things went down hill the moment we tasted our drinks. My teenager picked a Lavender Lemonade and it tasted like a bar of Italian soap. It was so bad he attempted to finish it but got sick and had to dump it. I ordered the espresso soda and it had zero sweetness and tasted of burnt coffee. I tried to add sugar but to no avail it remained rancid. I did purchase a bottle of wine but nothing local or of note was on the shelves. If this is under new management I recommend teaching your barista's how to make the drinks. We had to gobble the free taffy just to get the taste out of mouth. Unfortunately we will not be returning. read more

Close to our home, we pass this establishment frequently and decided to drop by on as a second venue stop since the offer small plates and a great assortment of wine and a few selections of beer on tap. We started with a Portuguese wine and a draft beer and a beer paired with a delicious beer crostini, ricotta, topped with pistachios . Mostly outdoor seating we chose indoor due to the smoke that we brought from California (smoke from Canada fires). The service was spectacular checking on us and explaining that they feature a different wine of the day every week and free wine tasting on Friday 4-7. It's also a small market with fresh brewed coffee, a nice selection of wine and other small products. We loved it as it was very relaxing as we wound down our Friday night. read more

Fantastic! We just love this place... it's a quaint, neighborhood bistro with such charm. They have wine and select items for sale nestled inside this small bistro. I do really enjoy this place after living a block away from it for over 5 years. The deviled eggs are the best thing on the menu. The outdoor space is great and allows dogs, plus they have been having music on Thursdays. The service is fast and everyone is nice. There is also the indoor area for you to get beer, wine, food and other items which is very convenient. My main wish is that they would PLEASE update their website. I also wish they would change up their menu. But neither of those would make me remove any stars. read more

Located within a quaint and well lit shop, it draws you in. It's as if you've stumbled upon an old general stote. Walk inside and you're greeted by their friendly, knowledgeable and passionate staff. Browse the single room space. There's a lot to see from an impressive and well curated wine section, craft local beer (including sour ales and hard cider), chocolates, ice cream, snacks and any other treat you're craving. They also sell bags of locally roasted Small Planes Coffee. They also sell soups, salads, charcuterie and other takeaway items. If you love to shop local, stop into Grape + Bean. It's meh. Could be so much more! It's such a cute location and the staff are absolutely lovely, but I can't rate any higher because the products stink. They only use one blend of coffee, which I personally don't care for... if being a coffee shop is part of your business theme, you need to expand your bean selection. The food isn't great either, and it's $$$$! $18.95 for a chicken sandwich without a side, or $16.50 for a BLT with very little bacon and a huge slab of iceberg lettuce, again, no side. My husband got the meatballs, $18.95 and it had 6 meatballs (IKEA Swedish meatball size) in a few tablespoons of sauce. No pasta, nothing else. It makes me sad because this place has so much potential! read more

Let me start off by saying the food tasted good. Not amazing, but it was fine. My issue is portion size in relation to the price I paid. Got my order to take home so I asked for my soup to be put in a cup. The server was very nice and put it in a 12 oz for me. I opened the cup to see that I had maybe a half full cup of soup for which I paid $10. I at least expected it to be a bigger portion than that for $10. It's a butternut squash soup, not something with super expensive ingredients. Also, a $14 ham and cheese sandwich with no sides? The food, while good, did not justify the prices I paid. This used to be one of our favorite places to grab a bite, a glass of wine, or some snacks. The change in ownership has been underwhelming. I don't mind so much the change in vibe from upscale wine bar to coffee shop. The great disappointment comes from the so obviously cut corners. They are consistently understaffed. Wait times for greetings, menus, and food are untenable - not because the staff isn't professional, but because there's often so few people working at a time. The recipes haven't changed but the ingredients have. The quality is obviously lower (if the menu item is even available). The crostinis are inedibly mushy and their cheese boards compare to those premade at your nearby supermarket chain. Again, this is not longer a specialized wine bar. Fine. But the coffee isn't even good! We've frequented this place multiple times since the transition, and it continues to quickly decline. It is such a shame to lose such an institution to yet another middling coffee shop. read more

The crostini are *chef's kiss* and although I expected a better selection of wine, what I had was really good. I have previously reviewed the food but since they just started serving coffee I thought I would put up another review of the new breakfast offerings. This is my second time in for coffee and grape and bean is quickly becoming my go to spot for my morning caffeine pick me up. The espresso is so smooth with great crema on top and the iced drinks are top notch. They are still getting fully operational but will soon have frappes as well and they have nightingale ice cream bars if you are in on the food trend and looking for them. I was just recently introduced to this adorable wine and coffee shop. I've been several times now to enjoy both the grape and the bean. There is always a bit of a buzz in there and smiles from the staff and patrons. They offer great suggestions on wines to take with you - recently a delicious Claret and white port (and I don't like white wines). Sydney always greets us with a smile and takes care of us. Trinity insisted I try the triple IPA last time. We ended up getting a growler of that! Definitely get the goat cheese, olive tapenade crostinis which are addicting. And I'm not a goat cheese fan. Skip the meatballs. In nice weather there is a patio but it's hard to leave the vibe inside. It may seem casual but when you order food you get real napkins, fancy glass plates Customer service is amazing- I know a frequent customer who called to see if they had new coffee and he received a callback minutes later to update him on the latest beans. read more

The selection of Wine, beer, food, and deli items is first class and the staff is polite and knowledgable. I will definitely go back and I have to drive from Woodbridge, VA to get there. A very pleasant surprise, and I can't wait for the pandemic restrictions to be lifted to try the sit down food. If you're in the Rosement or Del Ray area you need to stop in. Buy local - Support local! I had their smoked jalapeno sweet potato soup today. It was delicious and both the smoke and heat of the jalapeno came through in a very nuanced manner. This was on a slow, rainy day with no guests inside, and aside from our table only about 3 other patrons. I ordered the "truffled toast" (or something like that) which was a slice of very dry, thick bread with melted cheese and two eggs on top for $16. OK, not great. Clam chowder was more like soup; not thick enough to be chowder. My neighbor had a delicious eggplant dish. Staff was friendly, but I had to get up or stop to find the waitress three times in my meal to ask for things that should have already been there: can I have some salt and pepper? sorry, there's no pepper in the pepper mill? sorry, can I have a refill of coffee? sorry (5 minutes later), um, you were getting my refill of coffee? sorry (10 minutes later), were you able to get that refill of coffee? I could definitely see that this place would be a plus for the neighborhood in nice weather with outside seating. Can't see driving out from DC again, though. read more

It has gone so horribly downhill since the new owner and management came in. Shitty management, odd renovation choices, unpleasant staff, mediocre food. As a loyal customer of over 5 years and friends with many of the staff, it's appalling to not only experience the decline in quality but also hear the way things are operating behind the scenes. The new management came in, and just four months later all of the original staff left because of the unempathetic management. Many of the new staff are downright strange and unpleasant. Food is mediocre and so often many items are missing on the menu- reflective on management. The women in the kitchen work too hard for such mistreatment. The menu hasn't changed in years and the website is outdated. The only reason for me to ever return here is because of its convenient location. I decided to write this review as I realized my favorite restaurant had gone from magnificent to TOLERABLE. I see a steady flow of customers that enjoy the wine and patio however I wish they could understand the low quality of service they are receiving in comparison to a year ago. The prior staff clearly cared about the establishment and knew the wine and food selection. Of course, learning takes time, but heard from prior staff- they do not care to learn. Oh boy do I have a red face. I have driven past this place numerous times and really never gave it a second thought. The name did not draw me in. Sure, I drink coffee and wine but not at the same time. A friend and I were looking to sit outside for happy hour and I asked if she wanted to try Grape + Bean. I disclosed I had never been there before to avoid getting blamed for a bad pick. Now my face turns red, what a hidden gem. Service was delightful. We had a new person who did very well for her first night. The entire staff checked on us, chatted with us and were very hospitable. Food recommendations were spot on. The deviled eggs tasted just like my Mom's. They were that good. Sitting outside was a wonderful experience and the crowd was outgoing and talkative. So pleasant. You don't have to sit outside, inside is just as nice however if the weather is cooperating, it is highly recommended. read more

I'm sad to say Grape and Bean has just gone drastically downhill. They are massively understaffed and seem to have recently laid off their more competent staff and kitchen staff. On a recent visit there was 1 person doing all service, counter service and making coffee. No fault to him, but he seemed new and overwhelmed. It took 1/2 an hour to even place an order. Every single thing we ordered came out wrong, and as another reviewer said, the quality just isn't there anymore. The cheeseboard was missing most of the accompaniments, and the food just wasn't good. Half the menu wasn't available. The same was true when we we came for breakfast recently- bacon, egg and cheese sandwich- bacon was hammered, and no cheese. The "new" owner isn't new anymore- I'm not quite sure there's an excuse anymore. The neighborhood wants to love this place- we all can walk here to eat, get a glass of wine, or pick up nice groceries. Please focus on the food and getting enough staff- open mic nights, fancy hot chocolate pictures on Instagram (that the staff have no clue how to make), and ridiculous specials aren't helping. read more

Hubs and I stopped by G+B Rosemont for a late evening charcuterie board and found way more than I anticipated! Warm, friendly service and well curated groceries, beer, and wine items. We enjoyed a board of 5 meats and cheeses and split the ham gruyere sandwich. I love a kitchen that serves super sassy whole grain mustard. Everything was wonderful, but the pate was unfortunately forgettable. We'll definitely be back to try more of the menu...or stick with the old faithful of charcuterie boards. read more

I love this place. I've gone in many times for wine. They've always been super helpful with helping me pick out a bottle. But this review is of the dinner I had the other night. I had a been a bit leery to come based on some negative reviews...but I had always wanted to go. The service was really good! They were friendly, attentive and helpful. We had a bottle of red wine, the white bean dip, some mac and cheese and soup. Everything was delicious! I'll definitely be coming back! The only bit I was disappointed with was their wine list- which was surprising, because there's so much wine in the store! There was around 10 bottles on the list and they were all round $40. I asked about grabbing a bottle from inside, which they said was ok, but that there would be a $15 corkage fee, which seemed pretty step, I mean, I'm buying a bottle from their store. Love this place and have been going for several years. I've noticed that the "bean" aspect of Grape + Bean has been somewhat lacking lately. The selection seems to have dissipated over time. In prior months, the restaurant was well stocked with several types of roasts from 3-4 different roasters. Today, one type of roast was available from a single roaster (Lexington), and the bag was unsealed. Perhaps the restaurant has encountered supply issues that are beyond their control. I hope they can diversify their selection as they've done so well in the past. Regardless, I'll continue to come here! read more

It is so great to see a truly neighborhood wine bar open in our Rosemont neighborhood. Grape+Bean brings us great wines, superior beer (i.e , Port City), and a wonderful neighborhood vibe to what was previously a pretty seedy convenience store space. This place reminds me a little of Southport Fine Food and Grocery in Chicago, in that you have a cute little shop (with pretty decent beer selection) and a place to eat (on the very off chance you've been to southport ff&g their food was 5 star so don't expect that here). There aren't many tables inside, so if you're hoping to escape the elements, try coming during the off hours. We ordered: +charcuterie: The cheese offerings were very strong, but I'd like to see a larger meat variety - where is my cured ham?! The amount of meat/cheese you get is also far outweighed by the bread/jams +rosemary ham and cheese saamy: Pretty darn yummy ham and cheese sammy My table also LOVED the deviled eggs (I'm not a huge egg person so I passed) and the brat.
