Being a devoted Trader Joe's shopper, I wasn't sure what to expect as a customer going to the new Aldi's in the Delray neighborhood. I was put off a bit when I found out that you can not call the store directly (if anyone knows differently, I'd like to know about it). But, having read a number of rave reviews, and the fact that it is less than a mile from my residence, I decided to give it a try. Then I encountered the second seemingly odd thing about the store, which is the 25 cent refundable "deposit" to use their shopping cart. But, then I realized the genius of it -- all the carts were where they are supposed to be, in front of the store, rather than scattered all over the parking lot. Just remember to have a quarter with you -- you'll get it back. The mechanism of depositing the quarter directly into the handle of the shopping cart which releases it to be used is simple but brilliant. Now, the shopping experience -- the store is exceptionally clean, well-organized, and well-stocked. In my approximately 4 visits, I have never been unable to find an item I needed. And, the quality of the items they stock is top-notch. What is most astounding is the low, low prices throughout the store -- I mean jaw dropping! One example: did you ever buy a Pinot Grigio (Winking Owl, a California wine) for $2.98 a bottle? And, best part -- be extremely pleased with how well it compares to wines at $10 - $15 / bottle? I could go on -- but better yet, if you haven't been to our local Aldi's, get there soon! I'll still hit up Trader's for some items that are iconically Trader's -- but for a quick run to an EXCELLENT grocery, Aldi's is at 425 E. Monroe Av. read more

I come here on a Sunday at 9:57 am there is only one cashier literally people are taking their food and just putting on shelves and walking out this is absurd how come they cannot have a civil self check out ridiculous people This place is garbage they have a sign out here saying please contact Alison how you feel people are writing F you on the side of the sign this makes no sense at all ridiculous so before anybody walks in here to get groceries see how many cashiers they have first so you do not waste your time one cashier on a Sunday the line is so large there's two isles full of people People were on the phone calling corporate and complaining about this you are going to lose a lot of business read more

Considering some of the rave reviews I must have hit the new Del Ray Aldi on a bad day. It reminded me of an impeccably clean, poorly stocked dollar store. Despite being a week day morning I only saw two employees in the entire store - one stocking produce and the other the lone cashier. I was surprised that many of the shelves were half empty - particularly the wine section and the fresh fruits. I mentioned this to the person stocking produce and he said the delivery truck was late. Aldi's might be a good choice for some cheap, off-brand canned goods but that's about it. And some items are actually cheaper at Giant - for example a box of boutique tissues at Aldi was $1.05 and $1 at Giant. read more

Great grocery products and excellent costs. I wished I knew this store before where I will always go for weekly grocery. This store did almost everything to reduce cost and offer good quality food at lower prices. Just take your recycle bag and go there, you will enjoy the products this story carries and save a lot of money monthly. read more

This Aldi holds true to other Aldi's I've been to but the employees could use a serious attitude adjustment. The cashier that I had threw every single piece of grocery that I had in my cart with reckless abandon as if my groceries didn't matter. I did NOT like that. read more

The nicest Aldi's I've been as these stores tend to be located in seedy areas where the parking lot is littered with trash and loitering people. As others have mentioned, it's well-lit, there are plenty of products though the produce wasn't too appealing , good prices, and take credit. Other ones take debit and cash only. I think it's a great neighborhood store for basic pantry items. read more

This place is amazing. Not because it's really the most amazing place but it's affordable and the products rival Whole Foods. No hormone gmo free and I can literally spend $70-80 that would easily be $180-220 at any other food store. read more

Okay, so I was very skeptical about getting an ALDI'S in place of our good old local Giant on Monroe Ave in Del Ray. We were hoping for a Whole Foods, Trader Joe's or Harris Teeters, something more upscale, with tasty treats...but I can't help it: I LIKE this store. Having gone in several times for midweek supplements, I have found our local ALDI'S to be clean, well run, and well stocked. Do they have a huge selection of name brand foods? Nope, but they do have a good selection of staple items, such as organic veggies, fruit, cheese, milk, eggs and basic meats. The prices are better than anywhere else I have shopped in the area, and they actually do take credit cards here (I had heard that they don't do so in other store locations). I bring my own little shopping bag and stock up on basics that I forgot or ran out of during my weekly grocery shopping. No cart hassle at all, and the service has been fast, friendly and efficient. Despite myself, I am a fan. If you need to pick up some quick items, try this place out. What would have cost me $40 at Whole Paychecks, I got for less than $20 here. Count me converted. read more

It's just a very strange experience. Stock is limited with many off-brands -- for instance it looks like a box of Kellogg's Corn Flakes, but it's not, it's some weird off brand in an identical box. You have to .25 cents for a cart. And after you check out they put your groceries back in your "rented" cart so you can bag them yourself (bring your own bags) on a long counter. I will say prices are good. I bought some faux Hefty trash bags for .99 cents -- they are ok. The store is new, so it's clean, but overall, it's just a weird place and experience. read more

Aldi is cheap and cheerful but has limited stock. I was disappointed by the few organic vegetables and fruit but return for the prices anyway, then hit another store for special things. I know of a location which started out inexpensive and gradually raised their prices until it wss not worth going at all. So watch out! read more

We love Aldi! The only two things is that it is ALWAYS crowded and they never have eggs. Other than that, we have found a lot of organic items and everything is reasonably priced. The location is quite convenient too! We will continue to do our main shopping here. read more

I live in the neighborhood and this was my first shopping experience at the new Aldi's. I was incredibly disappointed. There was no skim milk to be found. It is not possible to purchase individual quantities of some produce - onions, potatoes, peppers. Finally, when I went to the checkout line I found out that you must bring your own bags or purchase from the store. That policy is fine, but for 6 cents each I bought two paper bags that were cheaply constructed with no handles. The cashier did not bag the groceries. Rather, she put the groceries in to my cart quicker than I was able to put them in the bag. When I asked her to slow down so that I could bag them as she rang them, she said "o.k." only to continue what she had been doing. I had to move items out of the way to open up the second grocery bag that I purchased. I truly hope that some customer service policies change, and the store is stocked appropriately, otherwise I regret that I will not be able to support this local business. read more
