Picking up a couple of these. *Chef's kiss*

Finally went to TJs over in Old Town. I'm really more an Aldi, Wegmans, and Whole Foods guy myself, but there's this mushroom pizza that a friend of mine turned me on to that I've decided to go and get for myself. The store is designed with Old Town street names rather than lane numbers for all the registers. Quite a whimsical touch. The registers move quickly and there is a facilitator that makes sure the line moves fluidly, so the facilitator guy yells out street names rather than lane numbers to direct you to the next available register. Service is super friendly. Parking is underground like Old Town Whole Foods which I'm not particularly a fan of. All you have to do is look around at all the scratches on the cement columns to see why. People scratch your car up in those tight underground spaces too. Looks like I'll be adding TJ to my grocery stops though, albeit occasionally.

A surprise Welcome Bouquet from the clerk

Just moved from CT to VA. Found my Alexandria TJ. It's like a little piece of home you take with you everywhere you go. I received a tiny floral bouquet from the checkout clerk as a welcome gift. Best part, people singing to the same song in the aisles. Adorable! Thanks from a loyal TJ customer.

I love coming to this Trader Joe's location, it is always fully stocked and the customer service is always great. Parking is readily available and if not you can park on the street. When you go don't forget to try the various wines

First time visiting this TJ location. I visited on a Friday morning when the crowd would be small. Parking in the garage is free for up to 90 minutes. Not a huge store (which I like) and it's easily navigable assuming you know what you are looking for in each section. I was prepared to find various vegan items that I heard rave reviews about that were sold here. Luckily I was able to find them all! The customer service is excellent and I plan to revisit soon.

Here's my hellacious haul! :-) More pics and full video on IG ** @f.hux

Yesterday was my very first haul at Trader Joe's. (I remember going once or twice for cookie butter years ago, but don't recall buying anything else.) I racked up! I got my wines (because...wine not!?). I got my spreads, sauces, seasonings and such. I got flowers (beautiful strawberries and cream Hydrangeas). I got my side dishes, juices and some buttery croissants that I cannot WAIT to devour. I even grabbed a few bottles of citrus hand sanitizer. I was literally just throwing shit in my cart. The store was nice and clean. The service was great. The selection was plentiful, as if they'd just restocked the shelves. (Maybe they knew I was coming, lol) It was a late Sunday afternoon, so that was a concern. **Thanks to COVID-19, social distancing methods are in full effect. However, the line wasn't too long and neither was the wait. There's free parking and the garage, which is on the same level -- so that's super convenient.

A good place to shop in Alexandria. Trader Joe's is a popular grocery store that offers quality products. The store idea was born in 1958 as a small chain of Southern California convenience stores opened by a drugstore executive named Joe Coulombe. They changed their name in 1967 and as of January 2024, there were around 564 Trader Joe's stores across the United States with several in the DC area. This particular store is located at the corner of Asaph and Pendleton Streets in Alexandria. It has a parking lot that is right out one of the store doors. There are a limited number of parking spaces inside the building but seemed enough on the day that I visited. The store entrance had displays outside in the parking area. The store was well-lit and busy but, for the amount of traffic, it was amazingly clean and well-stocked. It is a small store but seemed to have a good selection of items from fruit to wine with gluten-free as well as other dietary options. Checkout utilized a line and one of the staff members directed you to one of the many open lanes. Prices are higher than some other stores like Publix but for the economy, location, and quality they are reasonable. Overall, it was a pleasant shopping experience in the heart of Alexandria.

This Whole Foods is no different and I enjoy my regular visits, with the pyramidally stacked fresh fruits, lined up green leafy produce, and front facing 365 products. Is it a bit pricey, yes. Do I sometimes get fruit, veggies, or meat that is well past their prime (pun intended), yes; but, I've been able to return it for a refund (a bit annoying but not a show stopper for me). The ambiance is high-end supermarket with lofted ceilings and sometimes samples--shout out to the fish mongers who kill their salmon sautés! The vast majority of the staff are friendly and helpful, the hot bar nuggets (especially the saucy ones) are on point. I miss the stroopwaffle, which have disappeared from the cookie bar, and I think the pizza has trended slightly downward since the days of mambo chicken pizza, but I haven't been eating it as much. I'll be back.

I mean, sometimes you're a regular grocery store just does not cut it. When looking for a unique item or specialty kind of meat.... In steps places like this. And, you realize you've made a great choice from the minute you walk through the door. This location has a lot of fresh product the day I came here and that's always a good sign and plus in my book. No rotten fruit on display, weird smells, bright, clean and more importantly ..... no fruit flies! For those that are picking shoppers, know what I mean!! lol. I was shopping for thick cut bone-in ribeyes. I had two in-hand from another grocery store and was shopping for two more. The butcher shop at Balducci's not only had them in stock but they were over twice the size, had better marbling and color, and overall seemed just more fresh than that of the ones I picked up elsewhere. Just browsing all their cuts of meats and seafood varieties was an experience to set any cook or home chef's mind to imagining the possible. When I need fine cuts of quality meat I will keep these folks at the top of my list that for sure. Also, you can't go wrong with the bakery items offered here. I oftentimes buy a couple of goodies that originally was not on my shopping list because everything catches your eye and entices you. In all, a great store and shopping experience overall. This location is not necessarily my favorite Balducci's location but it is quick and convenient to get to from my home and work location when heading home.....which makes it a winner in my book. Two thumbs up and I recommend!
