This review is going to reflect my first and second time eating here (I've only been twice). The first time I came, I wasn't overly hungry so I only ordered a fruit cup. The fruit cup is awesome- blueberries, strawberries, and banana. Most places load you up on cheaper fruit like melon and skimp on blueberries and strawberries but not at Harriet's! My boyfriends meal was the hash and eggs and it was such a plentiful portion that he had leftovers for breakfast the next day. Our server was Lea, and she's an absolute doll. Super nice and personable. The second time I got an omelet and it was huge! It was really good too. Boyfriend got the same meal, and we both have leftovers for breakfast tomorrow. We lucked out and had Lea again as a waitress. Again, super personable and attentive. We're new to Cranston, and I feel like Harriet's is going to be our new "go to" breakfast spot. read more

First time we have been to Harriet's, I noticed it rated as a top breakfast place in AAA. We eat out for breakfast on the weekends so we have a pretty good sampling of places. Wife had hash with dropped egg, kids had French toast and ham & cheese omelet, I had spinach & cheese omelet. We could barely finish our plates, big servings and all was delicious. Be careful when you order takeout. Every time I have ordered takeout the foam containers come melted to your food and smells like burnt plastic. This is unacceptable and to be honest with the money they make it's cheap of them to not use better takeout containers or at least line the inside with something to prevent the foam being burnt. Harriet's Kitchen... best place HANDS DOWN for Sunday morning breakfast. I came here recently for the first time at the recommendation of a friend. It's a first come first serve seating situation. However, the wait was rather quick. I got the corned beef hash with home fries, eggs and whole wheat toast, as well as their iced coffee. The iced coffee was nothing out of the ordinary, however, the food was SLAMMING! I also tried their pancakes and I just about died. They were heavenly. The staff was very friendly, however not one had their face mask fully covering their mouth and nose whether inside or outside, including the bustboy/dishwasher. We decided not to stay. Perhaps some people are disappointed with Harriet's because they are not evaluating it in the appropriate context, so I'm gonna save my fellow breakfast goers some unnecessary heartache and break it down for you all right here: Do NOT expect a gourmet brunch, forget about organics, and don't even think about trying to order healthy. Harriet's is basically a diner, so treat her like one and she will be good to you. Example: Don't go in mid summer expecting that your fruit pancakes will actually be FRESH fruit, even if it is in season. Not happening. You're gonna get the frozen canned stuff, blueberries and strawberries drowning under magenta pre-packaged juices - sanguine, gruesome, but yummy. The home fries are exceptionally good, sliced, fried. Think scalloped without the cheese. Its unusual for breakfast, but I love it. These potatoes alone have brought me back here on numerous occasions, so definitely get a side order if they are not included in your meal. Another great thing about this place is the service - it is FAST! Like lightning speed, even on weekends. Come hungry, eat, pay, and be on your way home within a half hour. Prices are reasonable although for what it is and its location, I expect it to be slightly cheaper. I will never understand the markup on food that occurs throughout Cranston, but thats another story. A-OK indeed. read more

Service is definitely lacking... We went for breakfast and it wasn't that crowded. Still....Waited 10 minutes to even get noticed or offered coffee. Ordered...and requested NO homefries but spicy apples instead. Got our plates WITH homefries. ..and hard spicy apples on the side. Our omletes were "ok".....They were a good size..and stuffed..however the veggies were more of chunks rather than chopped so you could eat the omletes easily. Looks like only 2 waitresses were actually working. Although we noticed at least 3 other "workers" standing around. I think they were more concerened with looking cute or not breaking a fingernail (Not sure). Our waitress was very nice but too busy to even bring us more coffee.... When she finally did come back she had 1 water not coffee. Now when I go to cashout the 3 staff memebers were still hoovered at the register. It took 4 minutes just to get cashed out even. I was the only person there at that time. Then I had to ask for a pen to sign my sales slip gessh. Overall the place is okay but the service really sucks. read more

It's a diner type spot, not a gourmet place, if that's what you're looking for than it's a perfect fix. While on vacation in Rhode Island we ate twice at Harriett's Kitchen. Not ever eating there before I was typically skeptical about quality. But seeing the crowded dining room I began to search other tables of people's orders. I was blown away! The portions shocked me. Huge!! And the appearance of the food was mouthwatering. Our order was served and we could not believe our eyes. The servings were gigantic!! The home fried potatoes were just like I have made them for years!! Delicious!! The two eggs looked like 6 eggs!! At least a pound of potatoes' 3 large sausages' 3 crispy bacon' biscuit and gravy!! So delicious. My wife's waffle looked as big as a hubcap. My grandsons pancakes took up 2 plates. It was all delicious!! Needless to say we returned 3 more times. If in Cranston...go to Harriett's. You will not be disappointed!! Thank you Tracy Merlino for turning us onto Harriet's. We went in on a Thursday late morning, think it was around 1030/11am. The parking was ok. Had a few spaces available, and seeing how few people were inside, I don't know where you'd park on a busy day. When we went in it was seat yourself, so we sat in a booth in the corner. The waitress came over and we asked for some water. She brought it back after a couple minutes and we ordered. The food came out surprisingly fast, well most of it. My waffle, scrambled eggs, and bagel came out. Then my husbands bacon... then his omelette... then about five minutes later came his toast. Was a very weird order to the food. The food was alright, edible, a little greasy, but nothing really wowed us in a good or bad way. Just blah. The proportions were big. I couldn't finish my meal and my 6'6" husband who's eats nonstop couldn't finish his potatoes. The waitress never came back after we got the food. A young man clearing tables brought my husband a new water. He then came back and cleared our dishes. Then after sitting and waiting about 6 minutes, I finally just went up to the bar seating area and asked to pay. Another waitress got the woman that was helping us, and she rang us up and we paid and left. The bill was pretty high, but I guess it should have been expected, but I didn't pay attention when ordering! I wouldn't rush back. My biggest complaint was the disappearing waitress... she just never came back. And there was only two other tables. I also took some better pictures of the menu. Couldn't find a menu for them online, hope it helps someone! read more

Harriet's Kitchen has the real wow factor for a filling and delicious breakfast. First off, the waitresses are very friendly. The food comes out very fast, especially considering I came in with a large group. The portion sizes are huge! A plate of pancakes fills an entire large plate with multiple layers. The topping selection is awesome and fun - with out skimping on whipped cream and fruit options. The bacon was very well made and tasty. The home fries were really done to perfection! Agree totally with the last review, Harriet's is what it is...a breakfast joint. No organics, more cholesterol than you need and no free WiFi makes it a blue collar breakfast place. You can't review it as if it was a trendy cafe on the East Side. Good Breakfast in a cool little space. I just had eggs and bacon which were great, but I saw some gigantic waffles passing by with fruit and whipped cream that made my head whip around. If you're on atwood (hopefully shopping at @Ruggieri's) its worth a stop. read more
