Harmony is one of two salons I go to regularly in Pasadena for mani-pedis. I am a regular mani-pedi customer, and Harmony does a good job. Here are my pros and cons: Pros-great selection of good quality polish, good color selection with on-trend colors, friendly staff with a few exceptions. Cons-very popular, so often crowded at peak times, foot massage with the regular pedicure pretty limited. I've never had a complaint about the quality of my manicure or pedicure. I always leave with my nails looking good. read more

Before I start my constructive criticism, as the previous reviewers have stated, the owner, Jennifer is really cool. She's friendly and I was always curious about threading so one day I decided to give it a shot. I asked Jennifer for her opinion and she told me that she didn't really think I needed it and even told me that if I started threading, I might end up having to always maintain it. She said she would clean up my eyebrows and I can keep it after. The process was relatively pain free and quick. I appreciated her honesty and she is the reason I go there. I've been there maybe a total of 4-5 times in the last 2-3 years. Ok, so I'm not a mani-pedi expert but I know what's good and what sucks. I feel that the problem with this place and many nail salons, is the consistency of service. My first experience was awesome. It was the full service, friendly person who spent an adequate time on my feet. Soaking, rubbing, filing, massaging not just my feet but my whole lower leg. Doing a good french pedicure with the thin line like I like. My only regret was not getting her name!! Since then, I feel I've been chasing that first high. I can't seem to have the same experience. It's definitely gotten lackadaisical. They don't spend as long massaging your feet and even if you opt for the additional service, you don't always get your money's worth. I went back to get a full set for the second time in my life but the glue turned yellow after a few hours. I got the white tip painted clear. I went back for them to fix it but it would have costs a lot so I decided to remove the nails all together. They were about to charge me so I told Jennifer that I would have gotten a fill if it hadn't turned yellow. She reluctantly decided to not charge me but then told me I shouldn't do fake nails with them any more because maybe my nails don't react well to their ingredients. So basically, I probably won't go back. Luckily I don't really get mani-pedi's all the time so it's not a big deal. Now my search is on for a real good one. When I'm back in Arcadia and my mom wants to accompany me, I'm lucky enough to get my nails did and hairs threaded at Harmony Salon! Jennifer and Trang are amazing at threading and are always so nice. They always welcome us warmly and remember little things about our last conversations (even though sometimes its several months ago). Make sure you get Jennifer or Trang, though, because they're the best! They have a great selection of Essie and OPI polishes, which I'm particularly snooty about, so thumbs up! Love this place. I normally like coming to this salon because they are quick and do a good job but yesterday two of the manicurists got into a big fight and were screaming at each other. There seemed to be no manager in charge and nobody was telling them to stop screaming in front of the customers. It was incredibly uncomfortable. For most things, the first time is exciting but becomes progressively more bland thereafter. This must be true of threading my eyebrows because the first time I came to Harmony, Jennifer was enthusiastic and thorough. The second time, she was on the phone and rushing to get me out of the chair, resulting in some stray hairs. The third time...well, there won't be a third time...fool me once... I was so pleased after my first experience at Harmony that I brought a friend with me for manicures. The staff did not talk to my friend once, instead choosing to use me to relay messages to her. "Ask your friend if she has cash", etc. We all spoke the same language (English) and I was standing right next to my friend. I didn't quite understand the need for that and we left the place befuddled! Oh yeah, the manicures were okay. For the price, they were excellent ($9-$10). Things to keep in mind: They have a minimum for credit card use, they don't stock quick dry spray, and any threading will be done in front of other patrons and the street-level window. read more

I've been here for nails and for eyebrow threading, and for eyebrow threading I wouldn't go anywhere else. It's fast and it's pretty painless. They construct the eyebrows beautifully in a way that isn't too difficult to maintain. As far as nails, it's not too bad either. I read other reviews about how they don't spend enough time doing massages, etc but I believe that if you're looking for a place that gets the job done in an efficient way and still does a good job, then this is the place for you. If you're looking to be pampered, you'll only be pampered with the ladies' politeness and friendliness. :) read more

I have been a very non-loyal nail salon goer at best. Now, when I go to the nail salon, I go to Harmony. When you call for an appointment, the person there says, "my pleasure", and "I look forward to seeing you at X time." You have confidence that you actually have an appointment. When you arrive, the owner welcomes you by using your name. I don't know how she even knew my name. I was impressed. You are offered water, they have newish spa chairs and the staff is nice. Parking has never been a bis issue for me, but be aware, it's "edge of Old Pasadena" metered street parking. The nice folks at Harmony are good about reminding you about the time so you don't get a ticket. read more

This is my favorite salons!!! I've been going for a while now and I'm always happy with the final product of my nails. I took a break from this salon and went to a cheaper one on Lake and was not nearly as satisfied. I came in today for a set of acrylics and they seated me right away. I got to look at an extensive amount of polish swatches while a nice young man prepped my nails. I showed him a picture of the shape I wanted, and he nailed it!! (Haha) he worked so well with the drill I didn't experience any pain. This is the happiest I've ever been with a manicure!!! read more

Love this place! My ex-bf lived in Pasadena and worked weekends, so I was always looking for something to do while he was at work, and Harmony Nails became my place of Zen and escape. Its super cute and right off of Colorado...close to shopping, but not right in the midst of everything...like i said, Zen. I'm a big fan of their spa mani/pedi. I don't know what they do differently, but this is the ONLY place i've gotten my nails done where my nails weren't chipped to death an hour after leaving. a week later, they weren't perfect, but they were still respectable looking. I would leave the polish on for 2 weeks, and when i took it off my nails would look healthy, not yellowed like some salons. and at only $28, i felt i got more than my money's worth. I had a different girl each time i went in, and they always did an awesome job. been wanting to get my brows threaded by jennifer, but alas it is an EX-bf, so i no longer frequent pasadena. but if you're in the neighborhood (and even if you're not), stop by. It's usually about a 20 min wait on saturday afternoons. tips are cash only!! read more

Let me be frank. I live in North Hollywood and have been searching high and low for a place to get my nails done and have not found anyplace that beats Harmony. Clean, Professional and Friendly. I love this place. I had my nails done for my Wedding here! They do a great job! While they do take credit cards you have to tip in cash. They have an ATM though. Also there is metered street parking but remember to bring some change. They can make change for the meter but on a busy day (when everyone and their mom wants change) they tend to run out so plan ahead and bring a few quatrters, or just park in the DeLacey Parking Structure and take a stroll down Green Street. For the past 2 years I've been making the drive to Harmony and have never once been disappointed. I tend to trash manicures within a few days but Harmony's Mani Pedis last and last! read more

My husband goes here for his manicure and pedicures, because Lynn prevents him from having painful ingrown toenails. While he has his mani-pedi, I usually enjoy a full face threading. Fortunately, I made an appointment for my threading. There was one person waiting for an hour. I guess she was hoping that someone wouldn't show up for their threading appointment with Jennifer. Yes... she's that awesome! She's definitely worth the wait! There are times that I just sit there waiting with hopes that someone will be late for their appointment, and then I'll be fortunate to have my face threaded. Sunday is usually not as crowded as other days, but there's a 50% chance that Jennifer will be there. read more

This place is my go to spot when I am in old town pasadena. Its a little bit pricier than other nail places in the SGV but I am sure their rent is higher too. I never had a problem with my nails and they don't charge to buffer which some places do. Make sure you bring cash for tip because they don't allow it on the card. read more

Harmony is located on Pasadena Ave just before Colorado Blvd. You can find street parking on Delacey, Green, or Pasadena Ave on a good day. The ladies here are sweet and will always give you quarters for your meter. I like the front desk guy that they hired. He makes things run more efficiently. Weekends are usually pretty busy so make an appointment. Weekdays are slower and they take walk-ins. There are lots of spa chairs with massage control features and there is a manicure bar as well. I've only done threading here once, but they do a great job. Color selection: I love that they have samples of all the gel colors. It is very helpful. Gels are reasonably priced. As for regular nail polish colors, this place is a bit lacking. If you want basic colors like shades of red, beige and pink, this place is fine. But if you want more fun colors, you might be disappointed. Service: It depends who you get. Mostly all the ladies here are great. However, there is a lady who is a bit older who always rushes and doesn't do the greatest job. I have been coming here since it opened, so her performance is pretty consistent. If your nails chip within 2 days of your manicure, feel free to return and you can get a free polish change. read more

My mom and I followed Jennifer from the salon she used to work at, Contempo, to Harmony. We are loyal customers and don't go anywhere else to get our nails done. Harmony is clean and affordable. It's always busy when I go in, which is testament to the excellent service. My only complaint would probably be the lack of variety in nail polishes. They do have several brands, including OPI and Essie, but the shades are all very similar. Also, although Harmony accepts walk-ins, I'd recommend making an appointment. This is a review for threading: Jennifer is one of the most gentle threaders you will find in Southern Cali. The pricing is also fair, as another poster mentioned you can get your upper lip and brows done for $20. I took off a star because of one quibble- if you have a shape you are trying to maintain or like your eyebrows thicker be sure to tell her in advance so that she doesn't cut too much on the top or take too much off of the bottom. Re-creating your arch takes awhile- so save yourself the trouble. For parking- park on the street or in the lot on DeLacey. read more

Had my eyebrows threaded and they came out wonderfully. Even though my eyebrows had been messed up by another salon, she was able to fix them and make them look really good. It didn't hurt like other places, and it was really quick. $12 for the service was a great price. I went on a weekday when they weren't crowded, so parking was easy once I found the place. I go here occasionally for eyebrow threading, which I would give them 5 stars for. I have had my eyebrows done by Jennifer and another lady and they are both really good. Whenever friends come into town from out of state (where eyebrow threading isn't commercially available), they want to come here to have their eyebrows done. I had a pedicure here once and I kind of felt nickel-and-dimed. Midway through the spa pedicure was paused and I was asked if I wanted "additional" services for $X more - callus removal...extra leg massage...etc. Not so classy. A bit awkward and it left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. I would have much preferred they been up front about additional charges before the pedicure began. Harmony is not that expensive so it was fine in terms of overall cost but it was only a decent pedicure. 3 stars for the pedicure. 4 stars average. read more

She will remember your name, and do whatever she can to fit you into her schedule. The salon is always clean and calm, and I just couldn't be happier. I've always had a good experience going here for mani-pedis. Their massage chairs are WAY nicer and newer than other places I've been to. With a regular pedicure, they not only do the normal massage, but they also use a salt scrub which feels amazing! I've also had my eyebrows threaded twice and was happy both times despite being used to waxing. Their selection of gel colors is great. Made an appt with Jennifer the owner for a fill after having to work around her workout schedule and her kids school (I get it) make an appt for 10:30am today in which she calls me and say she needs to move to 4pm I rearrange my work schedule to accommodate them leave La Canada to drive to Pasadena (mind you I have to go back to work at La Canada after- remember I rearranged twice) I show up for my 4pm appt pay the parking meter for an hour and wAlk in and she wasn't there can someone else do your nails. The first time I did my mani and pedi there actually was not bad even though I waited a little bit long b4 they started my service. But this Sunday, I went for my second run... it's bad.... the girl who helped me she is not gentle at all and literally ripped my cuticles off. Then, she rushed to finish my mani so she put on layer on one layer too soon and the color didn't go on smoothly. After reading previous reviews, and getting rave reviews from a friend, I made an appointment with Jennifer for threading about a month ago. Got a great slot - 3pm so not busy - and great parking right near the salon on the street (always a bonus in Pasadena). I do recommend the post-lunch pre-working crowd time slots if you can swing it. What struck me as odd was when I went in, I was barely greeted by the staff who were all with clients. I told the girl closest to me I was there to see Jennifer, and she just said "OK" and offered me a seat to wait. When she finished her client, she came and got me. Once I sat in the chair, I said "I am guessing you're Jennifer?" She seemed preoccupied. I just expected a little more warmth and welcoming for a new client. My first experience with threading was 4 stars for painless, 4 stars for getting all the stray fine hairs, and 2 stars for what I got for the price. My brows did not look "done" and were not really shaped. She basically just cleaned them up for me and that was it. There were no stray hairs above or below, which was terrific, but I was looking to have my eyes "opened up" like when I have them waxed and shaped. Maybe it was poor communication since there barely was any. I felt like I caught Jennifer on a really "off" day or something because my friend thought she was SO sweet, personable and professional. I will try once more just to see - and will update. it's just SO hard to find a good brow person!!!!! I will never go to this salon again. I had been going for a couple months and had a good experience, but the most recent time I went they were dishonest about their prices and way overcharged me for the service. I made an appointment a day in advance and requested a dip manicure. On their pricing menu in their salon, it says that a dip manicure is $28. When the lady finished my nails, I went to pay and was told that my bill was $48. When I pointed out that their menu said the service was $28 the lady gave me some flimsy explanation that dip powder and dip manicure as are different things. Regardless, I specifically requested a dip manicure so I should not have been up-charged for a service that I didn't receive. They dipped my nail twice and then put a coat of gel on top. If a gel manicure there is regularly $30 then there is no reason that two dips of powder and gel on top should be $48. If you value doing business with people that show integrity then I would strongly discourage you from going here. read more

Love this nail spa/salon. I love that it is a few minute walk from my job. I love how clean and professional the people are that work there. My nail tech is Nancy is she is very thorough, neat, and just as picky as me when it comes to my acrylic overlay of my natural nails and my pedicure.
