Drove through Peterborough after a hike at Pack Monadnock. There weren't a ton of food options in this small riverside town, but Harlow's looked like a divey local place - right up our alley. The day was nice enough to sit on the outdoor patio. Great people watching, and dog friendly if that's important to you. Personally, the inside would have been too dark to have lunch on a beautiful sunny day. Beer selection was good, and the menu was well rounded American fare. We split a burger & fries & it passed the test. The waitress was friendly and attentive. This restaurant fit the funky vibe of Peterborough and it's worth a stop if you're in town. read more

Harlow's interior seems to come alive at night and especially in winter. Dinner was fair. French dip and fries. Fries were not hot and the dip wasn't much better. I was excited to see a Porter on Nitro on the beer menu. Not as creamy and luscious as it should be. Bartender said that this porter is only on Nitro at Harlows. It will disappoint if you were hoping for a cascading draw. Music was the hit of the night Harlows is set up well for music. read more

In some ways I wished they changed the name with the new owners. They are not the Harlows i knew and grew up with, staff is really different, menu is different, bands that play there aren't the same and they dont bring the same community connecting energy that they used to. Changes started off small with implementing fries and changing the on tap options and now I think I dont really even recognize the menu or can identify something I like. Although on the surface a lot may look the same it's a different space and different place with more of an anxious energy instead of the chill vibe it used to have. File it under the category of you dont realize what you have until it's gone, part of harlows died after covid and never came back and the current harlows is a shell of what it once was in its glory. If you are going thinking you will experience what it is that is captured in these videos and pictures on this page or experienxe what you did 10 or more years ago you will be sorely disappointed. read more

1st time ever stopping in here. Sat outside on a nice sunny day . Service was good , I ordered the Blairwitch sandwich with coleslaw and my GF got the smash burger with fries . My sandwich is a roast beef sandwich with peppers, onion, cheese and jalapeño. It was very good but WOW was it hot and spicy ! You might want to get the jalapeño on the side. Nestled away just off the main drag of Peterborough, NH is my next gem to share with you: Harlow's Pub. I had been on the road for two days, three flights, and four hours of driving and we decided that a cozy local pub sounded perfect for a bitterly cold New Hampshire night...Harlow's Pub was a winner! The hospitality starts as you walk up from on-street parking: Harlow's is as a home refitted into a business. Catchy exterior lighting and a warm glow from add to your anticipation as you walk up the ramp and to the main entrance off to the side of the building. When you walk through the door, you are immersed in local charm that only comes from a neighborhood place with an authentic history. Decor tells the story of the town and region in a tasteful manner. New England charm sat well with this Chicagoland native and the people watching is great. My wife and I love nachos. We only order them when we think we're at a place that can do the dish justice. Harlow's did not disappoint as our's was made to order with fresh taste and great flavors. There was plenty to share for two ravenous diners or four if sharing light bites before dinner. Props to a great selection of local beers on tap, I had two different IPAs during our meal and enjoyed both well-served pints. Many choices looked good, we opted for the meatball sandwich and the hot honey crispy chicken sandwich with fries. Both choices were solid! Great portions, with some to take home for later snacking. Side salads rounded out our selection and they were every bit as good as our entrees. Pleasant service, super clean bathrooms, and local clientele charm round out the reasons I'll be sure to return to Harlow's Pub next time I'm in Peterborough, NH! Things could have been worse. The server wearing all black completely ignored my wife and I and weren't asked if we needed anything at all. We were seated on the patio and I had to ask the lovely bartender inside for Togo boxes and to pay for our meal. Slight chance we won't be coming back for table service. read more

Went in the last week of May for a quick bite of lunch and the service was friendly and fun! I had a BLAT that I wished I ordered the bread 'lightly' toasted because it destroyed the roof of my mouth (my fault not theirs) but the bacon was good and so were the burgers! Our first time here. A very cool and funky looking restaurant that has what you expect, plus a few vegetarian and vegan options. The beer selection is small, but varied. We walked in and were seated quickly, but due to short staffing we had quite the wait before we were given menus. Then another wait until we put in our drink orders. Then another wait until they arrived and we could put in our food orders. We put in a second round of drinks orders after an hour. Then the food arrived in oddly staggered ways. Stopped in late Friday afternoon 3/20 for a couple of appetizers before we began our 2-hour drive back home. Service was on-point very pleasant young lady, and the kitchen got the food to our table expressly. The Spinach Artichoke dip was like a puree run through a blender; kind of blah; it wasn't bad, but it wasn't good. The Veggie Chilli was very good. We had to send both apps back to the kitchen when they first arrived they were on the cool side and needed to be heated up. Overall I like the updated menu, the addition of Fries; and the service and response from the kitchen is much improved. I think things are getting better. What the Heck Happened? My friends and I have been coming here since around 2016. We loved the vibe, the menu, the service, and especially the food and interesting beer and cider selections. We were understanding about the wait, the hard seats, etc. but now it feels like all the things that made this place great have faded away under the new ownership. The menu is now limited and feels like a bland approximation of a commercial gastro pub - right down to the truffle fries and the prices. It's heartbreaking because there was simply nothing like the old Harlow's in this area. It was unique - and it was cool - and it was delicious - that's why we all flocked there. I get that Covid was really hard on this place and I support all the local businesses here, but Harlow's always had surprisingly amazing food and diverse menu with lots of veggie options, high quality bread and cheese, and cool combinations despite having to shrink the menu a bit in 2021/2022. At the same time, It also had some of the best burgers, Reubens, and steak tips that I've ever had anywhere. It was 100% worth the wait every time. Our last meal was underwhelming and tasted gross. The bun of my burger was basted with something that tasted like old grill oil and the cheese looked and tasted like plastic American. My friend's Mac and cheese was also really underwhelming and low quality and the Reuben was dry and not hearty. Portions were meager. I guess my question is why would a new owner wreck the differentiators of this place? We would have paid more if the quality stayed the same. It's like they don't understand the vibe one iota. We tried Harlows again but it's missing the mark with food. Service is excellent, the pub is clean, drinks are good, but the food served just doesn't score high. I ordered the Lobster Mac and Cheese, but it was more like Mac and Cheese soup with teeny shrimp and bits of lobster. Not sure what sort of cheese, it was yellow, watery and flavorless. For $21 I expected much better, I wasn't able to eat it. My fellow diner wanted a plain, cold roast beef sandwich on sourdough and fries but the server wrote down the Blair Witch sandwich and my friend got a grilled panini-like sandwich, completely not anywhere close to a cold roast beef sandwich.. She ate half and sent the other half home with me for my dog. But the music was nice. read more

Service is, and always has been good. Went there yesterday for the first time in a long time. French Dip has always been a favorite and my husband was pleased that they finally have American cheese for his burger. I believe they have new ownership. The roast beef in the French Dip tasted artificial. The roll wasn't the freshest and the sandwich was on the cool side. I hate to be picky but prices are higher everywhere now so I expect more. Harlow's Pub Peterbourough NH first time at this restaurant. Beer IPA was very tasty. Took longer than anticipated for our meals, but it was worth the wait. My husband got the bandit hat stew for 23. I thought that was a little pricey, but the portion was large with tender beef overflowing in the bowl of heaven with two fresh pop overs for dipping (He was perfectly full and happy). I got the pasta Diablo which came with a light portion of blue cheese crumbles, which is wasn't sure if this would blend correctly. Wowza!!! Best pasta dish ever, creamy with perfectly cooked pasta, chicken tenders with a slight kick of spice and two slices of fresh garlic bread (you could actually see the garlic on the bread). We were shocked as this over achieved our expectations in this "foody area". 5 stars read more

A friend and I stopped in, been there many times. His whiskey drink was weak, didn't have my draft choice. After choosing another and making sure it was NOT going to be a "hazy" IPA, out it comes as hazy as it gets. Waitress has no idea what type of beer they are serving. It was a 45 minute wait for a table at 1 pm on a Saturday. That was fine as we thought it would be worth the wait. We checked out a few local shops and came back. After being seated and placing our orders, 2 meatball subs, a root vegetable salad with grilled salmon, and a soft pretzel, we waited an hour for our food. A table next to us ordered 15 minutes after our order and they received their food first. They were out of a beer that I ordered as well. The root vegetables in the salad were supposed to be roasted but were all undercooked and hard. The attached photo shows a butter knife standing straight up in a raw, hard parsnip. It takes like 20 minutes to roast parsnips and after waiting an hour for food, this is totally unacceptable. The excuse was new management and backed up kitchen. The restaurant was emptying out and didnt seem that busy. After inquiring several times about the wait for our food and letting the server know about the hard vegetables, they didnt take anything off the bill. The server offered to get the manager. Honestly, if I have to ask to see a manager, then you're just not doing your job. I simply can't recommend this restaurant to anyone. Very disappointing. read more

I've been to Harlow's on multiple occasions and it has always been a positive experience. I especially want to give our server from last night kudos for handling the short staffed/in the weeds kitchen with grace. My friend and I didn't mind waiting, but very much appreciated her attentiveness to our drinks and bringing us chips and salsa to curb the edge of hunger. She was kind and apologetic, although we completely understood the situation was out of her hands. I wish I had asked her name! Dinner was delicious when it arrived- one of the best vegetarian sandwiches I've had. I hope management sees this and knows you've got a good egg on your team. service was slow. my wife had a cheese burger and I had the fish and chips. the hamburger was atrocious, gray meat. no sear at all, lettuce was old. she didn't eat it. the fish was ok, I ate it but completely unremarkable. Stopped by today after an afternoon in the area, and the place was super cool on the inside! A nice vibe, with all the plants, signs, and decor all around. Space is a little tight in the inside, and service was a little slow even though there wasn't a huge crowd, but the food was good once we got it. They also had root beer on tap which I enjoyed quite a bit! They are located in a part of town with a few shops around, so there is stuff to do in the area if you want. And, you can park nearby on street or off street lot, so traveling to come here is easy enough. read more

We stopped into Harlow's for dinner while on vacation this past August and were really impressed. We sat out on the front patio to eat which was really pleasant. Patio was pet friendly and I always feel like that's a plus. Our server was kind and attentive. Our food was also really, really good. The hot soft pretzel was awesome along with their beer cheese. My wife is vegetarian and ordered the veggie melt. She said this was one of the best veggie sandwiches she's had at a restaurant. I tried it and I agree, the veggies were a good mix and ratio, plus they were crisp! I ended up ordering the Blairwich. It was really spicy, but really good. Harlow's did have some odd hours while we were on vacation so unfortunately we didn't get to eat there a second time, but we definitely wanted to! read more

Have to knock a few stars off on my second visit from December, unfortunately. This is a weird spot, but I really loved it on my first visit. This time was a pretty big miss on most counts. First of all, they were out of numerous dishes and made no attempt to alert us to any of them. I tried ordering multiple different dishes only to have the server seemingly amused that they were out of each and every one of them. I also got a truly vile cocktail on this visit. I ordered The Last Word, which is a green chartreuse-based cocktail developed where I live in Detroit. What I got was some sort of brown black licorice-flavored drink that more closely resembled a margarita than what I had ordered. Food across the board for our table was underwhelming, and several of us did not enjoy our cocktails at all. read more

Ordered a Caesar salad with chicken that was $21 (!) and looked and tasted like someone opened a bag of romaine and poured some bottled dressing on it. And it was tiny.
