This is a good spot for a special yard gift. We have a friend's birthday coming up. And they have unusual items here.

Since I've been in Tucson, Harlow Gardens has been my one stop for buying plants. On occasion, I've visited several times in a day. I appreciate how they have their grounds laid out. It's a visual treat that makes it easy to stroll around and find something wonderful. They have a great variety. I've been geeking out on cacti. Some are intimidating, some are cute, and some are surprising. I mean, really, who wouldn't want a wooly pad cactus that looks like it has white fur?

    Lots of colorful pottery

So many fun things to see and what a great selection of plants, pots, tchotchkes, succulents and even clothing and jewelry. I'm a garden center junky and love to check out garden centers when I travel. This did not disappoint! I will be back!

I love this planter! She greets you as you get out of your car.

My other half and I have been working on improving our patio so we took a ride to Harlow Gardens to look for inspiration and goods. Let me say this nursery is awesome. From the moment you drive up and park your eyes are filled with color and whimsy! There are succulents galore, all shapes and sizes, flowers and trees of all kinds. And the whole nursery is clean and well set up for a stroll through "the garden". I loved finding fragrant vines like Jasmine in various stages of growth and price points. Flowers, oh yes! Many that I've not seen carried in the home improvement stores as well as vegetables and fruit tree varieties also not carried elsewhere. The biggest take away was how healthy every plant, vine, bush, tree, flower or succulent was. So different from the other guys. Some items cost a bit more but you will see the difference from what the chains carry. Don't forget to feast your eyes on the garden accessories. I loved the colorful pieces of metalwork ,especially the VW bugs that are wall hangings and the wood and seaglass scupltures. Also check out their gift shop . I found some cute doormats and animal lover gifts. I found the perfect fern and succulents to take home If you need ideas to put your beautiful garden together stop here.

Lots of yard art to look at!

I can't rave enough about this #littletucsongem. They are so nice and helpful! It makes nursery shopping such an ease. They not only offer beauty indoor and outdoor plant options but beautiful outdoor art options. I found so many unique pieces to bring my front yard remodel to fruition! They are open Sunday's as well!!

Verdaderamente agradecido.

I wasn't even shopping for outdoor plants, but it was clear they have a huge variety if you are. It's the kind of place where you walk past section after section and keep thinking, "Oh wow... they have that too?" They also have a great selection of pots, so it's dangerously easy to convince yourself you need "just one more plant" because you already found the perfect pot for it. Definitely a fun place to explore if you love plants... or if you accidentally keep becoming a plant person.

The selection is never ending and you can find many native plants that are difficult to find, elsewhere, and impossible to find at the large chain nurseries. I've ended up taking so many plants back to larger places (that I won't name, but we all know) because, even when buying them at whatever price, at the time, I already know that they won't last the year that they are guaranteed for. It always seems like such a waste. Built from the ground up, it's nice to go somewhere that you know isn't just a gear in the big box monster machine. Gardening was one of the things that got me through a cancer journey, and yesterday, as I put my hands in sand and soil, I watched a hummingbird light on one of my favorite flowering bushes, that Jared, the owner, helped me pick out, near the beginning. It was little when I chose it, but now is almost five feet high. I don't remember it's name, but if I were to show anyone who works at Spadefoot, they would know what plant it is, where it can thrive, what care it will require, and when it will bloom. With some thought and planning, one can literally have a rotating buffet of blossoming food for all the critters, without adding any dyes, sugars, or plastic feeders. Nature does it all. I think of this nursery, every single morning, when I see this particular bush, which feeds the bees, hummers... Offers shade and shelter to those without wings, and other wonders, and remember how all things are connected. If you want a peaceful, lovely way to spend some time, skip the bustle and take a stroll, through this unpretentious garden space, and take a bit of that home, with you. Also, the name made me curious. So, look it up. It's hecka cool.
