My neighbor told me about this incredible nursery. I've lived in Tucson for 8 years and didn't know it existed. I've been limited to the Lowe's and Home Depot selections. It's a virtual desert botanical garden. Check it out. Spread the word. read more

Bach's has an incredible selection of cacti and other indoor and outdoor plants. The plants look healthy and well cared for. Great service as well. They were super helpful and knowledgeable about the plants. The prices are very reasonable and less than some other larger nurseries in town. I really liked that they offered several different sizes of the same cacti. This is something I haven't really seen at other nurseries I've visited. We will definitely be back! read more

Bach's is heaven on earth for any succulent lovers! I recently visited for the first time to purchase some succulents for my home and I was blown away by how expansive their nursery is. My mother is a frequent Bach's visitor so she showed me around, starting with their research tent. It was so incredible to see so many well-cared for cacti, some types of of which I'd never seen before. My favorite was the Mother of Hundreds. Next we visited their retail tent, it is full of so many succulents and all are well labeled. I was blown away by how reasonable their pricing is, not only on succulents, but on their pots as well. All of the staff were so friendly and knowledgeable and helped with questions we had regarding plant care. I left with four succulents, three of which I purchased pots for. They offer repotting service at no additional charge for plants that you purchase pots for, so I had three of mine repotted. They came out beautifully and have made wonderful additions to my home. I can't wait to visit Bach's again! They have been my favorite nursery I've ever visited and I highly recommend supporting their business if you're looking to add some succulents to your home! read more

Our final plant stop and it was a memorable one. We got here before close! EXPERIENCE: Parking: It gets a little tricky, you make an immediate turn but just follow the instruction signs to lead you to the designated parking spot. Feels: The spot is pretty isolated and hidden so you have to keep your eyes peeled to turn on the street. Plants: Great choices! Multiple greenhouses with multiple variations and sizes from babies, mid-size, to full grown. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Awesome! Friendly and knowledgeable people. OVERALL: 5 Stars. Probably out of all our spots, this was one of the top spots. Great selections and reasonable prices. Looking forward to come back here for more plants! Tips: - They close on time so be sure to give yourself some exploration and selection time. read more

This is a great nursery to wander about. Make sure to visit the specimen greenhouse. The cacti in here are all mature and incredible specimens. There is another large greenhouse with more cacti to look at. The Bach's are usually on site and can typically type your plants for you. If they can't, there are informed staff who know their stuff. There are also reference books in case they are stumped. You will also learn about the care of your plant from them. If you purchase plants/cacti from them they will box them securely for you. They grow many of their cacti from seeds. They have their own parking spaces. read more

This place is a destination on its own. Huge nursery with interesting cacti, trees, plants and petrified wood. Its kind of like a museum and the woman who helped me was a fount of knowledge. I have been to a lot of nurseries all over town and I think I can confidently say that Bach's is my favorite, especially for all things cactus! Their prices can be almost half of other plant nurseries and big box stores, plus they are in much better condition. In addition, they are BEYOND helpful. They know exactly what you are talking about when you come in! We were looking specifically a King Ferdinand agave. We went to another nursery in town who was trying to give us a Queen Victoria agave. While similar, they are different! And typically a little harder to come by. And have different characteristics as they grow. They ask if you want the care instructions and explain everything super well so you can keep your cacti healthy and happy! If you are looking for succulents or cactus, THIS IS THE PLACE. 10/10. read more

I have always liked this cactus nursery. They have a massive collection of cacti and succulents and always a helpful, knowledgeable staff person who can assist you in your garden design. This visit, however, was stupendous. We ran into Julie, who apparently knew every cactus and its flower color. I'm a happy camper "stuck" on "Bach's Cactus Nursery in NW Tucson... They are amazing ! About 45 years ago, shortly after they opened, I bought a small Saguaro Cactus, and named it "Spike." We have bought several other items plants and pots since then, but I'll continue to tell you about Spike. He (or she) was with us for 40 years, was moved to different states several times, and finally got too big for his britches...the concrete pot he grew up in. By this time Spike was several feet tall, and finally, after my wife died and I was away working in Siberia, and not there to take care of Spike, he died and toppled over on the floor one day. While in Tucson last month, I bought a new, 12" tall Saguaro Cactus and had it shipped across the country to my home. "Spike Junior" will now grow up in the same big Concrete Pot, and this time, I will try to take better and more consistent care to ensure Spike Jr. has a long, healthy life... may out live me be a century or two. . So, if you want a huge variety of cacti and absolute fantastic service, go to Bach's Cactus Nursery at 8602 N Thornydale Rd Tucson, AZ 85742, The best place I know for a great Cactus.. We visited the nursey on Sat 6.10.23. We are big cactus collectors- I wish we had our bigger car to take more home. We bought 3 great ones the gentleman was very helpful. We were near closing hours so didn't want to hold them up- My husband left his wallet there. We were freaking out because we live in PHX and were driving back on Sunday. They are closed Sunday and Monday. I taped a message to the front gate hoping an employee would see this note. I had also left phone messages but know they would not be in until Tue to retrieve those message. Today I got a call from a gentleman stating he saw my taped note and had our wallet. He is sending it back today- Monday. This place is awesome and honest. I will forever buy my cactus from Bach nursey. They went beyond the call of duty to help us out. Plus their prices on cacti were very fair! The plants look healthy too! Thanks Bach Nursery !! Chris read more

Total hidden gem. Great people. Great plants. We are so happy to have this beautiful place so close to home

I knew exactly nothing about the world of cactus and succulents before my visit here. That's ok because the workers are complete experts and totally passionate about these kinds of plants. They'll answer questions, advise you on care and help you find your perfect prickly match. I really enjoyed wandering the greenhouses - the variety here is incredible. If you have a few minutes, check out the "research" hut where all the specimens are for seed or experimental purposes. They even sell petrified wood! Prices on plants are VERY reasonable - most things are less than $10. I opted to have my purchase potted in a lovely green glazed pot (they'll pot it for you at no cost) and they packed it up for airline travel too! Really cool stuff, really reasonable prices and some of the nicest people in the state. read more

Came here with my plant enthusiastic mom. GPS is great since the road was fairly hard to see, though there was a small sign indicating the road to the greenhouses. Parking is a bit of a free-for-all, but just follow signs and everything should be fine. We came specifically because their website said they have 11 acres of plants with some rare varieties. The staff was quite helpful and always attentive, ensuring we were assisted and finding colleagues that could assist us further if they were unsure about the answer. They were also fairly knowledgeable, and able to easily identify genus of cacti while assisting with identification. Just know, it is quite hot here, especially in the greenhouses with some extra humidity. They have very inexpensive and larger more expensive options. As beginner cacti growers, both of us bought smaller plants (only $4!) of a genus we prefer (for me, repetitive bloomer plants that flower throughout the year). We saw both cacti and succulents, as well as some trees in pots that I was not familiar with. You can also get colorful pots. It was also interesting to just walk around the greenhouses, as some had plants for sale while others were just for observation/research. They also provide care instructions verbally and on paper which I appreciated since I definitely didn't know how often to water a cactus. I'm happy my mom enjoyed the experience, and we will definitely be back in the future! read more

Up until now, I have only written reviews for outstanding service. First, the positive: huge selection of plants, pots and other fun decoration items; dog-friendly (I called ahead); reasonable prices. The negative: the female cashier was extremely rude and unhelpful. A few months ago, I stopped in for the first time. For background, the place was not busy. Having worked retail myself, I understand that sometimes cashiers get flustered when super busy and that it's not personal. However, this was not the case here. 1. When I approached the cashier, she was hand-writing an envelope--so, obviously not with another customer. Salespeople often tell their customers "just let me know when you're ready," as I'm sure they're used to people putting items on the counter not all at the same time. I let this cashier know I was ready and her response was, "Well, you're going to have to wait." Again, she was not with any other customer--on the phone or otherwise. I thought that was a terse response but didn't say anything as I thought maybe I misread her reaction. 2. I then asked about a plant priced at $15 I found in their "collector's items" section. Because I just moved to Tucson from the upper midwest, I didn't know much about desert plants in general and figured this one had a "story." When I asked the cashier about it, her reply was, "I don't know anything about it, you'll have to ask someone else." I was not expecting that kind of abrupt and unfriendly reply. She added, "I'm not going to lie to you; I know nothing." I was flabbergasted. You would think--especially since they were not busy--that even if she did not know anything about it, she would call someone over or at LEAST say "hm, that's a good question, let's go find out together" or something vaguely friendly. But no. 3. When I asked who I should "go ask" about the $15 plant, (since there was no one else around), she said that I could "go outside and find someone walking around to ask." Rude, a third time. Like how is a customer supposed to know who an employee is when they don't wear uniforms? It *just* so happens that another employee walked in right about that time, and I was able to ask him and he was very friendly and told me about the tiny plant, which turned out to be a special bulb indigenous to Africa. Had that friendly employee not shown up at that time, I would have walked away from the transaction--and the business. I think the owners should be aware that their front-line representative/cashier is not friendly or helpful at best--and at worst--rude and unprofessional. read more

An extensive, expansive Cactus Nursery down near Tucson. We went there to see what succulents they had of the order Crassulacae and they indeed had a couple that I did not have in my collection. But their specialty is cactus , not succulents . Their collection of Cacti is humongous. The sservice is both friendly and efficient. The staff here are extremely knowledgeable about the care required for all of the many varieties of plants they offer. From trees to tiny succulents, you can outfit your backyard or decorate your window here.
