I recently called old Pueblo cactus when our beloved saguaro began to appear ill. I received a prompt response from the reception and sent out the field manager within days. Jalon was wealth of knowledge in regard to the saguaros health. Unfortunately I got the bad news that it wasn't looking good for my cactus. However, Old Pueblo Cactus offers removal service and they sell a large variety of cacti as a replacement. Jalon, the field service manager offered us different options at different price points for something to go in its place. They can place extremely large saguaros (with multiple arms) either by truck or crane if it is in a difficult to access area. They will arrange the crane service and take care of everything. We may have underestimated how much time then saguaro had, And it ended up falling over on its own, almost like it knew we were planning a removal! So, we actually didn't not end up having to cut it down. They have a beautiful nursery and holding lot with very healthy specimens to choose from. read more

Two words: GOD SENT. Love this place. I was enjoying a morning walk with my son when we decided to check this place out. We were accompanied by staff the entire time and they were explaining and showing each plant to my son who is a first grader. He was really fascinated and it really meant a lot to me. I mean it's summer and schools out, what better way to keep 'em busy than go on an adventure outside and learn about plants. They really have a wide selection of cacti and succulents, I was in love! They have a ton of medicinal aloe they're trying to get rid of and it's on sale for super cheap right now so stop on by and remember to get some of those. Great for landscape size cacti. The smaller ones I saw were sunburnt and as soon as I saw bugs I kinda ran for the hills. Mealy bugs can be bad news and I don't like to risk introducing plants like that into the environment of my other ones. Otherwise great for large specimen! read more

I rely on Old Pueblo Cactus for all my desert plants, including many types of agaves, barrel cacti, totem pole cacti, etc., and more recently my very first saguaro! It was a retirement gift to myself. They are expensive so I chose a beauty that's five feet tall for $500 including planting in my yard. I estimate that it's about 27 years old. I hope to see it grow bigger though I won't see arms. That's okay. I hope it stays in this yard for 200 years. The folks at OPC are very caring. They are also saguaro experts, able to transplant the small and the very tall. I was given a great little seminar on the spot on saguaros and why I shouldn't choose one that's too fat because if they get too much water and grow too fast they outgrow their woody infrastructure. I am always given courteous and highly professional service there. I spoke to one employee about his rescued kittens. What a sweetheart. Highly recommended! read more

Service was lacking but the place has an awesome selection of cactus and saguaro ribs and yuccas and other southwest style plants. They even sell saguaros but boy are they expensive. Worth the trip if you like plants. read more

This place could not be ANY better. While travel through Tucson we decided we wanted to bring some cacti back to Florida. We googled "nurseries" and my wife selected this place. We were greeted by a very attentive, friendly young lady. I think some of my questions may have been too technical so she brought in Dave Hand (I think he is the owner), but she stayed with us (I'm a little ashamed I don't know her name, 50 years ago I definitely would have), Dave knew EVERYTHING about Cacti/Cactuses (both are correct usages). He stayed with us and answered all gazillion question I asked without missing a beat. He and Chris loaded, both Barrel Cactus, a Joshua Tree and a Saguaro Cactus wrapped in recycled carpet into the bed of my pickup behind the 5th wheels hitch. As I said we are traveling through with our 5th wheel. THEN after all that he gave me his personal cell number in case I had questions when we got home. If all of this doesn't merit a 5 star review then I am getting out of the review business. If you look at my review history you will see that I review them as I see them. I was in Tucson for an event and wanted to visit a succulent nursery. Carolyn helped me out and I ended up with a nice size ferocactus macrodiscus for $10. Old Pueblo Cactus has a good amount of succulents and I found myself perusing their offerings for another hour after I selected my plant. I hired them to take care of some landscaping. Overall they were a great company to work with and most of the staff was great and very helpful. They did a pretty good job with the landscaping issue as well. Their price was the highest bid but they also had better equipment to do the job. They showed up mostly on time and I would absolutely hire them again and definitely recommend them-- Hire these guys with confidence! (The only reason for 3 stars is that there were some communication issues and a couple of the staff members were a bit unprofessional-- otherwise I would have given them 4 stars. If you need to remove a saguaro cactus (either move it to another location or remove it due to disease), this is the company to use. I had a saguaro cactus that was measured to be 34' 9" tall that was next to our guest quarters in the backyard. The crew at Old Pueblo removed it in less than 6 hours and by the looks of everything afterwards, you wouldn't know a large saguaro was ever there. In addition, they were the least expensive. My saguaro normally would need a crane, but these folks did it professionally without a crane and without damaging any of my guest quarters or other shrubs and plants. Unbelievable! They are knowledgeable and might be able to save your cactus if you contact them soon enough. I highly recommend them for their work. read more
