Green Things Nursery is a plant lover's dream. The selection is amazing. I went in mainly to look at houseplants and was really impressed by the wide range of sizes--everything from small starter plants to some seriously impressive extra-large ones that could probably become a full roommate. I wasn't even shopping for outdoor plants, but it was clear they have a huge variety if you are. It's the kind of place where you walk past section after section and keep thinking, "Oh wow... they have that too?" They also have a great selection of pots, so it's dangerously easy to convince yourself you need "just one more plant" because you already found the perfect pot for it. Definitely a fun place to explore if you love plants... or if you accidentally keep becoming a plant person. read more

We were in the area and decided to stop and check out this nursery. It was a large nursery with lots of variety of garden and yard plants and other items. There were different sections, such as cactus, vegetable gardens, trees, other plants, pots, yard art and decorations, etc. We enjoyed walked through various parts of the nursery. We were looking specifically for vegetable garden plants, but those were pretty sparse. We asked about it and the worker said those plants are usually out by now, but they were running late this year. She was very helpful in regards to answering our questions about gardening in the desert, so we'll put some of her tips into practice and see how we do. read more

Be careful what you buy there. Often times there would be some pottery or display that breaks. Instead of discounting these broken pieces, they would get glued back together and sold at full price. Just called to inquire about a possible warranty on a rose bush that I bought less than 6 months ago that has developed a fungus. The man that answered the phone was incredibly rude and could not get off the phone fast enough. He pretty much hung up on me after telling me there was no warranty and my efforts to save the plant were all wrong. This is the third time I have encountered poor customer service at Green Things. Green Things is my go-to place in Tucson for all my green-thumb needs. Every time I pick up plants here, they're in great shape. I just recently repotted a monstera I got over a year ago that is absolutely huge now. This past weekend, I picked up a philodendron, a spider plant, and a snake plant and they're all doing great so far. The staff are super knowledgeable and incredibly insightful when helping you choose the right plants to fit your needs and wants. Bought plants they came out and put them in within weeks. The plants half of them died and had bugs in them. Went to talk to them and they gave me plants that were 1/4 size of the large plants that I had paid to have put in. And told me to take them or leave them. The female manager is a horrible person. I was there before Christmas and purchased a huge Elk horn fern. First I was going to get a Christmas cactus. Which a gentleman helped me with. I decided against it. I got the fern instead. I paid and left. I decided to go back and get the cactus the manager raised the price and was very rude. It had only been like 10 minutes. After getting very upset I finally got it for the right price. It was a horrible experience! I will never buy from them again! Buyers beware! They don't need your business. read more

I've been a customer of Green Things since they were quonset on a dirt road next to a goat farm. I placed an order for several trees for delivery. They gave me a delivery window of Tuesday between nine and 11. At 11. At 11 I called and got completely rudely spoken to by the delivery manager. After disconnecting and counting to 10 I called back to reach a manager none was available. I am a customer just expecting good customer service. Maybe Green Things has just gotten too big to care but there are other nurseries in Tucson and I'll finish my tree orders with one of them. UPDATE Just had my trees delivered by Brian who was excellent. Will still complete my purchases with other nurseries but Brian's apology and customer service has to be noted. read more

Looking for a job? This place is definitely NOT where you want to apply! Let me break down my visit to Green things and what i experienced as someone looking for a second job. I called ahead to ask if they were hiring and they said yes please apply with indeed. I told them indeed does not work for me as I've never received any reply's from business owners with that website. I was given an application to fill out and told by the manager that they needed to attend a meeting. As I filled out the application I was hit with loads of questions that sent out red flags for me. I asked an employee, and a few others about the questions and many were new hires, no more than 3 months at the job. There's clearly high turnover over here. Attached to this review are photos of the application and the questions they were asking on it. Based on these questions, green things wants is to pay workers minimum wage to be: experts in horticulture, be delivery drivers (possibly out of state even), movers, cashiers, secretaries, have irrigation expertise, participate in farmers markets, be a teacher and lecturer, along with many other "hats". Finally, I'd like to quote the stark red flag questions. "Are you willing to participate in an agressive training program?" Implying they are willing to be abusive to their employees? "Can you take the blame for damaging or losing tools and equipment?" Implying they may just pick someone they don't like to blame for breaking a piece of equipment so they have cause for firing them. "Will you work outside winter and summer? Sun, heat, wind, dust, rain, cold, mud?" More like, are you willing to put yourself in danger of the elements to earn us money? "Can you be asked to work in more productive and efficient ways without feeling pressured and stressed" Soooo, are you asking if I'll be okay with being micromanaged? Are you asking if you can push me to my emotional limits so that you can profit from my burnout? "Why should I hire you?" you clearly are hemorrhaging employees due to your horrible behavior towards your employees. Don't act like your business can't go under, it absolutely will if you keep up this kind of self entitlement. Finally; treat the workers here good, they clearly have vampires for bosses who will only suck them dry for their own benefit read more

Was SO excited to go to a local nursery being new to the area, and love supporting local. Went here for the first time the week before last, with the intention to purchase a water fountain and some native plants. Still "newer" to Tucson, I wanted to find a local nursery to help me mindfully select plants. As a nurse, full time student, and single mom, gardening is one way I nurture myself and find connection. I made time one afternoon to go to Green Things, proud that I had made time for myself that afternoon. After figuring out where to park, I immediately realized this place is HUGE! Immediately sought out an employee after realizing I had no way to orient myself to this enormous space. She was watering plants and appeared visibly nervous to step away and help direct me to the fountain area. I had to ask her twice if she could please help direct me- she asked someone permission to do this and said she couldn't leave her area for more than a moment. Walking me just far enough to point to another area, she gave me multi-step directions from that point. I found the fountain area towards the back, and unclear price markings, none set up or working, no employees in this area despite walking around 15 min out in the 110 degree heat hoping to see one. Another customer approached me during this time, hoping I was an employee and needing help too. SO many plants here, most very well-cared for! Some areas with clearly marked pricing, many areas not marked at all, some clearly marked as not for sale. Once out of the fountain and pottery area, finally began seeing many employees! Attempted to make eye contact with them to get their attention and ask for help, most were talking to other employees, quickly passing me by, no eye contact or greeting, and all appeared very focused and busy. As I kept looking at them, hoping to make eye contact and politely get their attention, more than an hour passed. Wondering if perhaps I had entered the twilight zone at this point, I pondered whether I still existed in the corporeal. Lost in existential musings, I was happy to wander through many areas with absolutely beautiful plants and an abundance of employees apparently lost in their own internal focus. Once I was too overheated, dripping sweat, no water in sight, my corporeal existence became firmly evident. Defeated, and a bit turned around, I began searching for my car, no easy task on this many acreage nursery. With disappointment and a heavy heart, I wondered why a local nursery would have so many employees who didn't notice my genuine smile and kind eyes, my attempts to make eye contact and connect with them. I had never felt so unseen and unvalued at a local nursery. As I was leaving, an older gentleman greeted me with kind eyes and a gentle soul, incredibly polite. After summarizing my experience, he apologized and directed me towards my car, walking me through a beautiful area with working water fountains. Truly wish this local nursery took care of customers as well as they do their beautiful plants. Uncertain if I'll make a second trip there after this experience. read more

While walking, I shared that we had an unfinished lot in Tucson and Jessica politely explained the layout of the nursery and resident expertise at Green Things to meet our future requirements. She then assisted us in selecting the perfect plant, citrus soil and navigated us through the checkout process quickly and efficiently. It was like having our own personal shopper, a true VIP experience. Green Things is one of my favorite places in Tucson! I have a giant garden of 4 large garden beds, 9 fruit trees, and a whole series of pots! You can usually find us at Green Things getting something at least once per week. In addition to all the veggies we grow, we also decorate with edible plants throughout our house - cherry tomatoes hanging in our front pots, edible hibiscus, and buzz button flowers in front. We even have strawberries in our mailbox planter for the neighborhood kiddos to pick and eat. Green Things has everything you need regardless of what you want to grow - soil or hydroponic, indoor and outdoor. The best time to get plant starts for your summer garden is in the early spring - that's when the starts are the smallest and when they have the best selection. As the season goes on, the plants get more expensive (they're bigger) and the selection goes down. This year I also talked with some of their staff and decided to try growing Chardonnay and Merlot grapes - they're doing really well! I'm planning to plant more of them along my entire back wall next season. Thanks for the tip, Green Things! Whether you want to nerd-out on your garden or just want to decorate with some pots and flowers, from fruit trees to flowers, Green Things is a super fun place to visit. The other day, a friend of mine and I decided to go look for plants. We asked this masculine looking person wearing a skirt where a specific plant was. Instead of guiding us to where the plant was, they basically raised their voice and pointed in the general direction. "They're outside," they said. They didn't give us any specifics. I noticed they did this to some other women looking for specific plants. Everyone else we asked was able to guide us directly to the plants. As a long-time Mesquite customer, I decided to try out Green Things for the lower prices. What happened this Morning was bizarrely disappointing. As I walked into the cashier area, a Manager with a rather severe napoleon complex was barking commands at a visibly uncomfortable and fearful staff. He then proceeded to make fun of me in front of everyone for pronouncing Azomite incorrectly. I am new to succulents and still learning, so my most sincere apologies for not having my PhD in Botany. He also did not appear to know that Azomite is made of volcanic ash when he replied - dripping with sarcasm - 'No, I don't have *volcanic ash*' They do carry Azomite, but I had to take more time out of my busy day to wait through his weird little mind game in order to get it. Additionally, no help was offered to carry a bag of heavy soil. On the long, back-breaking walk to my car, I noticed that most of the outdoor plants for sale looked dirty and unkept, like they were poached from the Desert. I should have just walked out as soon as Lord Farquaad started his meriod tantrum over the mispronounced word, but I was in a time crunch. Needless to say, we're gonna pass up Green Dictatorship for now on and stay with Mesquite as they are highly recommended for their customer service, professionalism, better quality plants and knowledgeable staff. Furthermore, it looks like the winner for our big upcoming landscape project is also going to be Mesquite :) read more

I went to Green Things for the first time this weekend in order to build a succulent bowl and obtain items to feed my desert tortoise. Having never been I really didn't know what to expect. When I pulled into the lot I was pleasantly surprised by all of the options that were available. Rows and rows of plants and other goodies, so many greenhouses, and friendly workers who are willing to assist you in any way possible. During times of COVID, I look forward to being outside and there is plenty of room to walk around and explore. I can't even begin to share how many different nursery items there are to purchase- truly something for everyone. I enjoyed walking around and purchasing the items that I needed to make my very own succulent bowl. Afterward, I was assisted by a very friendly and knowledgeable worker who helped me find plants for my desert tortoise. I appreciate all the help and I will definitely be back. read more

They offer many options for cacti, succulents, houseplants, and trees, and much of it is outside so you can enjoy socially distanced browsing in times of COVID. The pottery can be a little pricey, but we found some great orchid pots on sale so be sure to check the sale aisles. What a fun place to visit! My guy and I where looking for more ideas to spruce up our patio and i remembered passing this place so we drove over. This place is huge and we had no idea what they carried. As you go down the driveway you notice some trees and small buildings. What a surprise to find not only plant life but pottery and shops with indoor and outdoor goodies. Personally I love succulents and I was so happy to see so many varieties and sizes. My other half was happy to see so many indoor plants, spider plants, ferns, fruit trees and flowers for planters. The prices are reasonable on many items but there are mid range as well as more expensive items. We both found some colorful pottery that we will be purchasing. They carry plant stands, pots, ceramic animals and metal work for your garden . I fell in love with the metal goat and her baby. The shops offer a variety of art works for your home. Batea bowls for display, Catrinas, Tree of Life, lighted metal cactus, metal mirrors and a lighting fixture and Frida displays. Oh, you bet we'll be back. However, buyers beware, I can't go to Green Things without purchasing something. There are so many options. The grounds are nearly 13 acres and have everything. From plants to pots you can surly find anything you are looking for. Make sure you look out for the sale stickers that are on a variety of planters. Some things are even up to 80% off. There Johnathan was very customer service orientated told me that plant I called about was not available but offered if I was willing to cruise around w him in golf cart , which I did , he did have a gaitor on but still a risk ? Too hot to walk around the acreage . Disappointed that I called and specifically asked for product that was not there . FYI reading a few yelp reviews recommended be aware of employees walking around who don't want to help customers .
