I saw this place in the map and was Desperate for some coffee. I walked in the place, looked AMAZING! It was a rustic chic theme. Nice and quiet perfect for studying or just chilling out with a nice book. I ordered a snickerdoodle latte in small, cost 5$ just about as much as a Starbucks coffee. They also host painting sessions for adults and kids and other sorts of things. Definitely coming back read more

Some employees are very welcoming, others act as if you're an inconvenience. There is a lack of consistency with baked items. I've witnessed judgement and snippy remarks to customers about their orders, (including my own). Now that Rooted is no longer coming to Harlem, and after having multiple poor experiences at Harlem Java; I finally decided to buy a nice espresso machine for my family, and buy my beans at another local establishment. So lucky to live within walking distance of this great place, the prices are great and the coffee is better than I can hope to make it. Be sure to try the hot tea as well, it smells great and there are a lot of varieties. The place looks great, with an excellent, quiet atmosphere, like being in a cozy New York coffee shop but with a small-town feel. Harlem Java House is a gem! I've done numerous reviews on Yelp, and have never given five stars (I don't think). This place is Veteran Owned, Women Owned Small Business. The owner is the best, and her staff are all phenomenal... The coffee is fresh roasted, the muffins and other breakfast dishes are always baked fresh. The atmosphere is comfortable and cozy. Very eclectic furnishings, with tables for working or studying, comfortable chairs for those that just want to relax and chat. There is NOTHING commercial about this place, other that the espresso machine! Much more comfortable than some other chain coffee places that you visit! If you haven't been, and you like coffee in ANY form, or Hot Chocolate, you have to come check it out! read more

If I had known that this coffee shop was so much closer than some of the Starbucks I frequent, I would have been coming here much sooner. I love that they stayed open late today for a class on how to make your own soap. I tried an iced vanilla latte and loved the glass mug it came in. I'm such a sucker for little knick-knacks and local homemade items and this place had just that and more. Love the brick on the inside and the mix of the chairs. I went in and ordered a peppermint mocha latte and overall I enjoyed it! Only complaint would be that it was lacking coffee favor for me personally, so next time I would be sure to add an extra shot of espresso. Such a cute spot to stop and enjoy some coffee!! read more

We drove 20 minutes out of our way to support a small veteran owned business. Unfortunately it wont happen again. This business doesn't offer military discounts to dependents, not even of disabled veterans with ID cards. The baristas need a tactful way to express the discounts because after dealing with my husband's brain injury and PTSD the last thing I want to hear from the person making my coffee is "She's just a dependent." read more

I Love my small town coffee house! You will not find a better run business, with the friendliest people, and a cozy atmosphere anywhere else. The coffee is just as good with prices you can't beat. My favorite coffee is the cold brew coffee with coffee ice cubes, a dash of cream, and an oz of maple syrup to sweeten it up just a tad. I give this establishment 5 stars because they excel in all areas you would look for in this type of place! Ps. They also catered their famous coffees at my wedding! Just not good. I'm from Cincinnati and we have our fair share of individually owned coffee houses and this one just is only worth it for atmosphere. It's a cute space but the choice of brewed coffee is limited and not so great and the latte that I just got, oh so blah. Barely any espresso flavor or hazelnut for it being a hazelnut latte. I seriously felt compelled to drop it in the trashcan by the door but restrained myself. I have been there three times and yet to be satisfied. First time was just for a baked good, and they had none because the owner makes everything ajd was on vacation with no backup plan, I guess. They are a win for customer service, quite friendly. read more

I've been here one time, but I loved it. It is a quiet environment with ample seating. I love the rustic exposed brick look. The espresso beverages were right on point and exactly what I was wanting. They have a unique selection of syrups including a chocolate port and a cider syrup that taste quite good with their coffee. Headed through Harlem on way to Augusta and saw this coffee shop (it's MUCH more than just coffee) & decided to stop in. I had a meat quiche and bourbon caramel latte & both were amazing!!!! I tried this place for the first time. The smoothies are great if you ask for it to be blended twice. The snickerdoodle cupcake was extremely dry and after expressing it was not moist, I was ignored by the barista. I guess because I'm not a regular I don't get recognized.
