We both ordered coffees. They use Monin syrup here and dairy free milk options included coconut which I was super excited for! I ordered a s'mores latte and it was yummy. From the outside, it looks like what it is -- an old Augusta bungalow that found a second life as a neighborhood coffeehouse. Walk inside, though, and something happens. Everything slows down. The rooms are small. The furniture doesn't necessarily match. The chairs look like thousands of people have already found their favorite position in them. There's a porch, little tables tucked into different spaces, and none of it feels staged or designed to manufacture some trendy "coffeehouse aesthetic." In fact, I noticed something while sitting here: I don't see electrical outlets conveniently positioned at every table. I don't see a sea of laptops. Instead, I hear locals talking about doctor appointments, seeing the grandkids this weekend, and how ridiculously hot Augusta has been. People are simply here. I came in expecting to grab a coffee and leave. I have places to go and things to do today. But I sat down. Then I started looking around. Then I realized I didn't really want to leave. At some point they had probably been calling my drink for several minutes and I hadn't even noticed. And then I ordered a second coffee. That might be the best review I can give Buona Caffe. The coffee itself is absolutely on point. The staff knows what they're serving, makes thoughtful recommendations and genuinely seems to care about getting it right. But what makes this place special is everything surrounding the cup. It almost feels like they don't completely realize what they have here -- or maybe they do and simply have no desire to make it anything more than what it already is. As this part of Augusta continues to grow, with new homes and businesses coming into the area, I hope places like Buona Caffe remain exactly as they are. Sometimes you need a place between where you've been and wherever you have to go next. Somewhere neutral where you can sit down, let a little time pass, decompress and breathe before heading back out onto Central Avenue. Buona Caffe is that place.

Several people that came in after us got our food before us. 2 out of the 4 things we got were not hot at all. On top of that 3 of our items came out at the same time and the 4th came 20 min later. Additionally, we had a baby with us who was getting fussy since we had been there for over 2 hours. When the waitress came with the check, we told her that the food was very late and cold. Where we learned that the whole block was out of power, but they still had their donuts and all... I'm not proud, and my pancreas may never forgive me, but I regret nothing. And then my Bride asked "is that an apple fritter?" and the nice young lady behind the counter said "yes, and we also have PEACH!" So we ordered one of those. And then she pointed out the pistachio donut, so I *had* to order that. And then my Bride saw the crème brûlée donut and that completed the order. We paid in cash- I got complimented on my old school coin purse- and repaired to the picnic table outside, where we split each of our treasures in half. And then we ate them all, like the feral little goblins we are. The pistachio donut was not particularly pistachio-y, but was a good frosted donut and had adorable autumn-themed sprinkles on it. The peach fritter was delicious- exactly what I imagined it would taste like. The maple bacon twist was a textbook example of the style, and could only have been improved by putting the maple and bacon toppings on an eclair instead of a cake. (Hint, hint.) The star of the meal was the crème brûlée donut. One of the young ladies piped it full of cream right before she packed it, so it didn't have time to get soggy. Epic donut filled with delicious cream- not some custard goo - and topped with a burnt sugar crust. I will never come back to Augusta without going back to Belair Donuts, and will honestly consider making any trip south from Virginia pass through here just to stop and get another one of those. And as we finished our feast, the lights came back on. Never underestimate the power of great donuts! Literally the best $11.88 (tax included) we've spent this month. The kolache reminds me of my babcia's cooking, and the burritos were plump, hot, and delicious. $17.46 for the whole thing! Bacon egg and cheese burritos were delicious, but I honestly think I liked the overall flavour of the sausage one better. The cream cheese puff (we added the pumpkin cream cheese filling to this one, too!) was remarkable! It has cream cheese in the end opposite the filling hole, so if you're sharing like we did, cut it lengthwise. Which we did! (The little donut voice in my head ftw!) If you haven't had those pistachio chocolate bars, it's essentially a liquid version of the candy. They use unsweetened matcha, so the drink itself wasn't overly sweet because the chocolate cream foam brings enough sweetness nice in with the pistachio syrup used that has a slight nutty after taste. My friends and I tried it and we definitely enjoyed it. Highly recommend it this drink for any chocolate lover and get it now because I heard it's a limited edition drink! Service at this Starbucks was good. Barista was friendly and staff seemed pretty efficient with their work. Conveniently located within Target to walk around and shop.
