This business answered their phone when I called, and the business owner himself came out to look at the job. He was both friendly and competent. He gave me a bid, phrased as "time and materials not to exceed such-and-such", I accepted it. He sent a competent crew in a timely fashion to install my new heater and also to fix some illegal and possibly dangerous piping he had pointed out to me. I was a very satisfied customer. read more

Hardy Quality Air installed an airconditioning unit in our house for central air. The crew was timely and knew their jobs very well. Professional and always able to answer my questions. They installed the unit over three visits, each one setting up the next one. Courteous and clean throughout the job was done and everything worked first time out. The price commiserate with the expexted costs and when I had to change a date it was handled smoothly and rescheduled quickly. I would not hesitate to use them on any future jobs. read more

Hardy Quality Air? The absolute BEST! Excellent, thorough and professional office support, Ricardo and his assistant were on-time, their truck was clean and good looking, the guys were neatly groomed and very friendly, and the work they did was fast, precise and thorough including replacing a part that was necessary. I highly recommend Hardy Quality Air, Inc. They really know what they're doing - across the board. Thanks you guys!!! read more

We had a new furnace installed at our house. We wanted a Carrier furnace to replace the old one. We were under the impression that they were the best. We checked around, but most companies offered a different brand. Hardy Quality air was recommended to us. They were able to offer the brand that we wanted, and at a price that was substantially lower than the offers we had been looking at. The installation went smoothly, and everyone was friendly, polite, efficient. We couldn't be more pleased. I would highly recommend them to anyone. read more

I called this company and made an appointment over a month ago for services - a furnace check and duct cleaning so my heating system would be ready for the winter. Two days before they were supposed to come they called and told me they needed to move my appointment out another month because they were "slammed." Why would they overbook themselves? They said that "people were without heat." Well, so am I. And now I have to try and find someone else during a busy time. Don't bother making an appointment. They clearly don't want to honor the commitment they made when they booked the service request in advance. Shame on them. read more

I had Darrell, owner of Hardy Quality Air give me a quote for a new furnace for my home in Santa Cruz. They came out and did a thorough inspection, explained the options and made a recommendation based upon the home size and the insulation value of my windows and existing insulation. I felt the quote was reasonable considering all that was involved in removing the old furnace and installing the new. The entire process was tracked by Darrell and went like clock work. They did what they said, when they said and completed it as promised. I am a licensed wiring contractor myself and really appreciate it when others perform as professionally as Hardy Quality Air. Thank you to Darrell, the office staff and the 2 installation techs that actually performed the work. Job Well Done. Harold Brown Santa Cruz read more

Just had our furnace repaired by Ricardo with Hardy Quality Air. He really want out of his way to take care of my problem. Quickly diagnosed problem as a bad controller board. He said he could get another board and install it probably by Monday and if lucky the prior Friday. The next day Ricardo calls with the new board and ask if he could if he come and install it. The new board was different than the old one. But quickly studying the instructions he contacted all the huge set of spaghetti wires. He me turn the thermostat and it worked the first time! I mentioned some area registers not heating and he tested them all during his visit. Highly recommend Ricardo and Hardy Quality Air read more

Just had Hardy Quality Air come out to our mobile home in Seaside to look at our forced air unit. Richardo looked the unit over and found the problem very quickly (wouldn't light, bad igniter). He was professional and personable. Price for parts and labor was very reasonable. I have no reservation in recommending them or using their service again. read more

These guys are REAL. They get it. First time I called with my heater out in the middle of winter weather I got the owner Darrell, who was pleasant and ready to accommodate when all others were just going to "see what they could do". He send a young man named Chance over, who was also very friendly and accommodating. The repair wasn't "cheap" but it was delivered with good, honest service and the price was at least seemingly fair. Fast forward two months and here we are in COVID-19 lockdown hell, and the heater isn't working again. I pulled up the invoice and called Hardy. A receptionist named Courtney took the call. At first I was going to book a service call, but then my wife objected to having someone come in the house from outside. I was assured that Hardy had prepped for this by making sure all their crew were using brand-new safety suits, full face masks, gloves and boot covers at each house they worked at. I was impressed by how they chose to handle that aspect, but still, my wife thought it better to avoid if we could. (Also, it is important to note that with the current state of the pandemic, our business has been shuttered and we are for all intents and purposes without income for who knows how long. *I did not tell them this in advance.*) I made a bold suggestion: would Courtney (the receptionist) have Darrell (the owner) call me and possibly see if he'd be willing to try to walk me through a diagnostic and self-repair? It was a big ask, but I was hopeful. Within 30 minutes, Darrell was on the phone. He was genuinely interested in trying to help. He began to describe the process and things I should look for. I went to the basement to see the heater and called him back. I asked him if he'd be willing to do a video call. He's on an Apple phone and I am on an Android. I asked if he'd be willing to download the Google Duo app and do it that way. Unhesitatingly, he agreed. Once we got the video call up and running, he guided me through a full diagnostic and took an overall look at the whole installation. Ha made a number of very good suggestions to optimize the function of the heater and in the end diagnosed what the likely problem is. He recommended a course of action for me to try at least a temporary repair, which I executed. So far, it has worked. At that point, we spoke about the appointment down the road and I explained the state of our business. He told me that he would waive certain parts of the fee to help us when the time came as long as I could send him some photos of what to order. Overall, this was just an *outstanding* experience from start to current state. I believe in supporting good, honest businesses run by good, honest people. With that in mind, I urge you to give Hardy Quality Air your well-deserved business. read more

What can I say, they were responsive to quote requests, with an onsite visit and evaluation with reasonable pricing. Once scheduled, they showed up on time with a professional and courteous crew. Completed the job as expected and we now have 4 independent zones of heating and cooling working just fine in our home. One day, at the end of construction, while I was away, they called to ask how best to lock up our home and garage and accommodate Sophie, our Labrador. How often does that happen these days. Shout out to the people that work at Hardy, they are the best. read more

Had a difficult retrofit to a concentric vent (due to limited attic access) for the furnace in our attic. Omar & Israel did a good job on the install. Ricardo came in on a follow-up to make sure all was well and to troubleshoot another issue related to the original furnace installation by another company. Very happy with the work done so far by the hard working techs and the office staff & management. Thanks! read more

Hardy Quality Air CARES about their customers, and, of course, promptly identified the cause of our furnace breakdown. Because a member of our household is ill and requires a heated environment, when our furnace broke down in the middle of a cold streak, Hardy Quality Air went out of their way to give us an appointment that same day! Ricardo was on-time, efficient, and professional. We'll certainly hire Hard Quality Air for our future furnace and air conditioner service and repairs. Thank you, Hardy Quality Air! read more

Darrell, though he didn't come to my house, provided me with a lot of very good information and suggestions for how to improve the Hi-V heating and air conditioning system I recently had installed. He spent hours on providing expert information for troubleshooting my HVAC issues - and didn't charge me a dime! Based on my experience, I'd highly recommend him to anyone, especially those that that have Hi-V systems for which there are few knowledgeable people in the SF Bay Area with whom to consult. - Gene St.Onge, Oakland, CA read more

Wonderful job replacing our propane furnace. Fast, efficient, high quality work at a fair price.

I have had the pleasure of using their service twice in the past year. They are helpful and professional. They also go above and beyond the standard good service. Price is always a factor in their estimate of repairs. Not only are they prompt but always courteous. I have been happy with all the repairs needed on my heater and also when it was necessary to replace it. I would recommend without hesitation. read more

I want to thank Tyler & Omar for going underneath my house to evaluate and inspect my ductwork and registers. They were very thorough, professional, and knowledgeable. From the get go I told them the purpose was to preserve and extend the life of my ancient furnace unit and metal ductwork. I was walking the perimeter while they were underneath the house and I could hear both talking to each other on the state of the ductwork. I came away impressed with their honesty and evaluation, and for not trying to upsell me. They devised a good plan on what needed to be done, I look forward to their quote! read more

During the CZU fire, our home had some smoke infiltration and afterwards I was worried whether our HVAC is safe to run. When asked, Hardy sent out a team that did a free inspection of the entire system and the furnace, and were able to advise and suggest solutions to improve air filtration for the next time there is an air quality problem. They were pleasant and thorough, diligent about both safety and keeping my house clean. read more

Very thorough and competent. Pricey. Seemed truly concerned about doing a good and complete job. I had 3 chimneys cleaned and two propane fireplaces checked, but not serviced. Family business, very responsive. PG&E turned off the gas while work was being done, and when they turned it back on the pilot on the wall heater would not reignite. Joe came out and managed to get the pilot lit where PG&E failed to do so. Problem was the pilot would not stay lit. The heater was old and needed repairs. I was given the option to repair it or replace it. No one tried to push me in to a more expensive option, they just wanted to make sure I was aware of the choices. I went with a new heater and it was installed the next day. I would call these guys again. read more

This is the text I just sent Darrell after he finished a multi-issue repair on our 50-year-old mobile home furnace: "We are convinced you used some magic in the repair because the heater is not just repaired, but it is working better than before -- hotter & more volume -- so heats the house more quickly & completely. Have no idea how this is happening but are very happy it is. We didn't realize what we were missing and N and I agree we are not hallucinating." Darrell is tenacious: the parts for such an old unit weren't readily available, but he ran down what he could and then had the skill to fabricate from that. A lesser man could have said, "This is 50 years old, you have to replace it." Which would have cost 7 times as much, which just isn't worth it, in such an old mobile. We are super grateful to him. PS. 2 years ago we had a different issue with it, and Jeff made the repair & was also terrific. Darrell clearly runs an honest, customer-oriented business. read more

It with the greatest of pleasure that I recommend Hardy Quality Air for heating and air conditioning service. Being new to the Aptos area, we were at the mercy of those service providers recommended by our real estate agent when we bought our home. Often, real estate agents will recommend services that are good. But in my experiences of purchasing homes (this was my 8th), I've never had anyone recommended that was as great as Hardy Quality Air. What makes Hardy Quality Air so good? Actually, there are several components that must be present for me to consider someone providing great service. They must have the following attributes: * Reliability * Honesty * Excellent communication skills, both in speaking and especially in listening * Timeliness * Professionalism * Friendliness * Provides services that are fair and cost-effective Hardy Quality Air not only met those attributes, they were able to make recommendations that made sense. They understood and supported the options we chose. Their coordination with our schedule so that the impact of the repairs they were asked to make would be minimal was very much appreciated. It really seemed that Darrell Hardy treated us like he would want to be treated were he receiving similar services. Incredibly, the quality of service was not just in the interactions we had with Darrell Hardy, instead it extended to every worker in that company with which we interacted. Each and every one was courteous, had great communication skills, and was an incredibly hard worker. Finally, we were so impressed with Darrell that we asked if he knew of others companies in the area that were of comparable quality. He went out of his way to provide us with several suggestions. Talk about service above and beyond the call of duty! There are few people I would bet on like I would bet on Darrell Hardy. If you ever have any needs associated with heating and air conditioning I hope you will consider Hardy Quality Air. read more

Hardy Quality Air is an excellent Heating and Air Conditioning service company. They repaired our old gas home furnace, and installed a new gas heater in a separate location at a great price, and the work was done in a short period of time. They completed their work at the price they quoted, and returned to provide additional service at no charge. They are very professional, experienced with heating and air conditioning, and truly reliable. Easy to schedule with and honest with their quote! They answered my call quickly, and sent someone within the week.

We called Hardy Air in January, as our furnace sounded like a small, loud animal was screeching in it when it started up. The technician came out and determined that it was the blower motor, which he adjusted. He did say that at some point we would need a new blower motor or a new furnace (this one was almost 38 years old). We decided to investigate furnaces (as noises in blower motor did start to come back), and got two more bids, in addition to Hardy's. Theirs was the most competitive, they answered numerous questions, and Darryl Hardy (owner) came out to check some things that we had questions about. Bottom line, we went with Hardy - they ordered the furnace, and did the install in one day. This furnace takes less time to come up to the temp. we set, and so our PG&E bills for gas were lowered a bit. Would definitely recommend Hardy Quality Air.. read more

Hardy Quality Air is the BEST! We hired Hardy to hang our custom hood-vent over our stove and were impressed with the owner, Darrell who came to give us a quote. He was punctual, friendly and professional. He even noticed a couple of items that needed to be addressed in our attic which made us feel confidant that he had an eye for detail and was a man of integrity. His crew came on time, were polite and did the job in a timely manner. They talked to us about our project when they arrived to be sure we were on the same page and asked us if we liked the height of the hood before it was permanently installed. They all had an eye for detail and took pride in their work. When our project was complete they cleaned the work area and asked us if we were happy. My husband and I were blown away by their kindness, honesty and professionalism. And what struck me most was how highly the workers spoke of the owner, Darrell. Their admiration for Darrell shined through their work! This was truly refreshing as we've had many workers in our home who were clearly not happy and as a result didn't take pride in their work, so the quality wasn't there! We are so thankful we hired Hardy Quality Air and would gladly hire this company again! read more

Huge rip-off. Not only do they charge $140 just to show up and that amount is not applied to the work, but they charge huge mark-up on parts. Do NOT use. No one should be gouged like these people gouge. read more

I tend to forget about the heater during the warmer months and then when the evenings turn chilly I rely on the heater more than ever. This year our heater stopped working:(. A call to Hardy Quality Air and the person that answered the phone was professional, kind and helpful in scheduling me an appointment within a week. When the technician, Johnny arrived he was in a mask, kept a distance of at least 6 feet at all time's and to top it all off he was incredibly knowledgeable. After only a few minutes he had figured out the issue and resolved it quickly. The whole process took less than 15 minutes. We recently had Hardy Quality Air replace a $45 part (estimated) so that our wall furnace pilot light would stay lit. They replaced the part in approximately 30 minutes. Thus, we were surprised to learn that we were billed for 2 hours of work, resulting in an outsized charge of nearly $300. After a conversation with the office, we had a half-hour's worth of the labor waived, leaving a still inflated charge. We chalked this up to experience. However, we still have to relight the pilot nearly every day. read more

I think giving them 2 stars is generous. My furnace was not working properly. Their trained personnel, Steve came out and inspected my furnace. He recommended I replace the circuit board which would have costed me hundreds of dollars. I think it would have been $500-$700. They charged me $106 for their diagnosis. I decided to get a 2nd opinion from Chris Wilson Plumbing. They told me the problem was not the circuit board but the ignitor and replaced it for $316 total including the diagnosis. Furnace is still working years later. read more
