I keep our home very clean. So clean I vacuum again right AFTER our house cleaners leave. That's how bad my OCD is, so when I found out there was a break in our duct system and rodents had made their way in (we live in the hills), I felt violated. We had previously used Miguel/RML for replacement of an old and noisy motor and we appreciated his honest recommendations and promptness, so we decided to go with him again when we had this problem. Our AC went out last night and I found RML's listing and sent a message requesting a quote. I quickly received a message from RML with Miguel's contact number. I sent him a text advising him of our problem and he responded the next morning indicating he could be at our residence in 15 minutes. We weren't home, but Miguel said he could make the repairs regardless. He quickly informed us we had a bad capacitor and the repair would be $225. I asked him to check the Freon level and he did so at no extra charge. He was done within 15 minutes of diagnosing the problem and our AC was working again. He was punctual, professional and thorough in his work. We had some uneven spots where some rooms were colder than others and the thermostat temp was not in sync. Our heater stopped working during the coldest part of winter. Miguel came out, cleaned a sensor in the furnace, and got the heat running. A couple of weeks later, it stopped again. Miguel was out of town so I had someone else come out, who told me that either the board needed to be replaced for $500-$800, or the whole furnace needed to be replaced for $3800. I contacted Miguel who said he could come out the next day. After spending a considerable amount of time in our attic troubleshooting the problem, he determined that a part needed to be replaced and that he could order it and replace it the next day. The next day, he contacted me as soon as the part came in. He replaced the part for $275 and we have been warm and cozy ever since! Miguel is responsive, reliable, and honest. We were experiencing a fickle furnace - sometimes it would kick on, most times it wouldn't and we had to manually turn the fan on to get any heat. We thought we would likely need to replace the fan. Miguel returned my call in 30 minutes time, and offered to come within the hour to take a look. He was prompt, friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. We know have a working heater! He identified the problem, had the replacement part on hand (capacitator, not fan) was reasonably priced, and no pressure. I thought "Hey, why not install a smart thermostat?" I did my research, watched some Youtube videos and it seemed easy enough to install. I popped the old thermostat off the wall, and oh no, no C wire. The instruction booklet said in that case, to go to the furnace and do some stuff there, which I wasn't comfortable with. I found Miguel here on Yelp and saw all his awesome reviews. I requested a quote here, and he responded within minutes. I sent him a photo and he pointed out that there is a C wire hiding in the bundle, it's just not connected to the old thermostat, pull it out of the wall a bit and now connect it all up. Sweet! I killed the power, labeled the wires including the C wire that was hiding, connected the wires, snapped the new Ecobee in, flipped the breaker... and nothing. Miguel came out shortly after to check it out. He gave me a short timeframe in which he would arrive. He came on time, prepared with the tools he needed. He was professional and friendly, and took the time to explain what he was doing. What he initially thought was going to be a quick fix turned out to take a wee bit longer (only about 50 minutes altogether). In the end, he needed to do some rewiring at the furnace in the attic (which was not laid out in the instruction booklet, and so was not something I would have been able to do myself). Miguel came out to Hollister to take a look at my A/C unit which abruptly stopped working a week prior. He gave me an appointment time and showed up 15 minutes early. When he arrived he introduced himself and had a friendly demeanor. It only took him about 10 minutes to diagnose the issue. Miguel was very informative throughout the entire process. I made payment and he went to work on fixing the problem which was a worn capacitor. I don't know anything about A/C units and naturally I thought this was going to be an expensive project. Miguel could have easily told me I needed to replace my entire system in hopes that maybe I would be naive enough and agree to an $8500 job without soliciting a second opinion. But he didn't do that. He was upfront and honest to what the problem was, which only cost a couple hundred dollars and included a 1 year warranty for the part. He did provide other recommendations since my A/C unit was on the very older and used side. I have to agree with all of the other 5 star Reviews that Miguel has received. I highly recommend him and his company for anything you may need that is A/C related. Miguel and his company being a local business also made the decision to go with him that much easier. I originally had Nest send someone out to install and verify that I could upgrade the Aprilaire system in my house. The Nest installer was unable to proceed due to HVAC concerns (Aprilaire proprietary) I discovered RML Heating and reached out. Luckily, Miguel was available same day which was unexpected but welcome. I expected to get an insane quote due to ripping out all the Aprilaire stuff but Miguel was able to rewire everything directly to the nest and unplug the Aprilaire all together.
