I fucking hate this place. Hardee's is soooo bad. But I'll give it 5 stars for my hardworking fast food workers out there making it happen.

I had to take home leftovers (which served me for two more meals). Since then, I've either ordered just the hamburger (sides) or made sure that it would be my only meal of the day. Very caloric. But SOOOO worth it. The burger, besides its size, is perfectly cooked and moist. You have topping options like chili, lettuce, tomato, pickles, etc. They also have a range of condiments/sauces at the counter for you to use during your meal. This is hands down the BEST burger in the area (much tastier than BGR and Jake's Wayback and WAY cheaper). The sweet tea is perfect as well. The sides I've had (fries, hush puppies, onion rings) have all been delicious as well. The decor is all Coca Cola. It's like walking into museum. It's very cute and interesting to look at. The business is family-owned I'm assuming. I've received nothing but friendly and prompt service. The outside of the Monk's Corner Cafe does seem sketch but don't be afraid to walk in! You'll be drooling before even going through the door because of the smells wafting to the outside. Warning: if you do use debit/credit, there is a small fee (I think 75 cents?). Just bring cash if you can. I honestly don't know why this place isn't more popular among Clemson students. I've made sure to tell all my friends about it and they've loved it, too. I HIGHLY recommend!

Unfortunately Rick Erwin's missed the mark on its primary assignment. The restaurant is nicely decorated in the style of a steakhouse. Dark wood paneling and shutters adorn the walls with pleasant dim lighting shining down from above. Service was strong with a team serving our table. We were greeted immediately and offered water and a drink. However, we were not offered bread, which is unusual for a steakhouse. Our appetizer of Buffalo Cauliflower was just ok. The breading had a subtle after-taste, which may have been from the batter being undercooked. And the buffalo sauce was not very prominent. So the dish was not as strong as I would have wanted. For our main course, we ordered the porterhouse for two--the signature dish at any steakhouse. Unfortunately, it fell short. When the steak arrived, it lacked the expected presentation; it had been grilled rather than broiled and was served without the usual butter or sizzling finish. That missing sizzle wasn't just visual--it showed in the flavor. A proper porterhouse should have a rich, salty, buttery finish, but this one was surprisingly bland. Just as disappointing, instead of being presented as the centerpiece of the table, the steak was served on a plate that we were apparently expected to eat directly from. It felt odd and took away from what should have been a standout experience. Overall, this was a below average experience for a steakhouse. We will try it again down the road since the choices near Clemson are limited. But Rick Erwin's should really revisit what it is trying to be and then decide how to be that.
