I was…read moreat home, eating through my feelings but even a greedy girl like me wasn't ready for so much food. The Big Papi is enough for plenty of people's feelings. A deep dish aluminum pan filled with shrimp, lobster tails, corn and potatoes was good NOT great. The seafood was a tad bit bland. The shrimps were large but a bit undercooked for my liking. I ordered some sort of side sauce but that was also lacking. It didn't taste like anything- no spice, no buttery flavors. Nothing. Big plus was the amount of food that you get for your money. I would get food from Puerto Plata but in person. I believe that if I'm present to tell the cook just how I want my food seasoned and prepared, I'll have a greater taste experience.

I'm guessing this is the Caribbean side of the Caribbean Soul Food ( I can joke about that, I'm Caribbean lol) The guy at the register said they have more of a full stock on Fridays and weekends. Anyway, the food that we did end up getting was really good. I got whole fried fish and was told it would be about 10 mins for him to fry it fresh. Id wait again and again for this fish, it was perfectly seasoned and I ate it piping hot and ordered another. The rasta pasta did not have lots of of veggies , he also made that upon us ordering. It looked plain but it was so delicious- the sauce was silk and rich. Collard greens 10/10 ,I think in all the soulfood places I tried recently this one took first place. The mac and cheese pretty good too. Jerk chicken was good. Take out only. Food that has to be prepared on spot is made right in front of you too.

I expected it to be much larger, but it was still a fun item to try. I also liked the plain mac and cheese on the side. The crab empanada was okay, though a little dry for my taste and slightly too salty. Aside from that, I'm glad I gave the place a try. The bowl with chicken, mashed potatoes, and broccoli was good. My boyfriend mentioned that the fried lobster bites and the two sides he ordered were also on the salty side. Overall, it's a good spot to try, but they could go lighter on the salt. The value was fair--some items had more meat for the price than others, but it was still decent.

We were greeted by the hosts and quickly seated. Ruby was our server and she was very knowledgeable and patient with us. You could see the passion in her work ethic. She smiled and kept a positive welcoming energy from the minute she greeted us until we left. I had read a lot of reviews about the wings, so I made sure to order the sweet chili wings and the honey garlic wings. OMG they were seasoned well and saucy to perfection, just how I like my chicken wings. Then I ordered the lobster roll with sweet potato fries. It was so delicious that I had to order it again. We also shared the "First Lady:A Royal Feast for Mom." It was packed with everything lobster, crab legs, shrimp, sausage, potatoes, mussels, and corn. It was definitely a feast fit for a mother! Everything was seasoned to perfection with a delicious butter sauce. I honestly can't complain. We sat in a booth that comfortably fit 3 adults and 2 children, which made the experience even better for our family celebration.
