Dining satisfaction has gone down quite a bit from recent visits. I order their Tonkotsu Ramen quite often and the taste and quality was at par with traditional Asian Ramen. With kitchen crew change and/or management/ownership, taste has gone down to okay then bland. Ramen is suppose to have slightly thick, salty and flavorful soup which the restaurant used to have. But last night's Ramen was a "no taste almost clear broth", with acceptable presentation. I only consumed half of it even with the help of my wife whom I shared food with. I wanted to bring it home, enhance the flavor to enjoy the rest but thanks to a "not-so-enthusiastic-to-work" server/employee, I wasn't able to. She presented to us a very small soup container and did not express a desire to look for a bigger container for half of the Ramen order. I guess she was so busy to make the effort and 8:00 p.m. is almost closing time to care for it. Food quality and taste going down...service almost out the door???....very disappointed! Zero stars. We have been eating here since 2011 and the service continues to fall while the prices skyrocket. Placed my order shortly after 7 PM to-go and did not get my food until after 8:30. I repeatedly asked for a manager and was ignored, until one employee eventually told me there was no manager there. Got my food home and it was inedible and cold. $55 for 2 people to eat teriyaki chicken bowls and tempura, forget it. Never going back and hopefully nobody else does until "management" overhauls the place. read more

So here's the deal: I love this place. It is a testament to how much I love it here -- the food, the staff, the service, the ambiance, the quality, the value -- that I am even writing this because I fear that after reading this and the other raving reviews, people will flock--no, flood-- to what I like to think of as my sushi place. About a year ago, my previous sushi haunt went under. My friends and I were determined to find another place that we could call our own and put our full support behind. We went to at least a half dozen or so sushi places, some of which we really thought we could call "home," but there was something that we weren't totally satisfied with. We were always down to try someplace else. However, as soon as we tried Harbor we knew that our search was over. We have been totally happy ever since. The other reviews talk about the great food (of which it is), the great prices (of which they are), and the great staff (of which there is none comparable), so there is not much here that I can add. I simply urge you to try it out here. Do yourself a favor. Do yourself another favor: Try the leo roll and the baked green mussel as you sit at the bar and partake in the all you can eat deal. While those works of art are delighting the eyes and the palate, try thinking of something off menu that you might like. I dig on a calamari and eel roll. Here is the deal, I LOVE Harbor sushi! Im a huge sushi fan and was always on the lookout for a great place to have sushi, well I have finally found my sushi home. I am here every tuesday for their all you can eat special! The sushi chefs are amazing and super friendly as are their waiters! Even before I was a regular eating their "all you can eat" I loved the choice of rolls (which is alot!) they have to offer and their choice of regular Japanese foods such as their tempura and miso soup. They also have amazing baked green mussels! but back to the sushi.. While eating all you can eat sometimes im not sure what i want, so i usually let my sushi chef know what I like and they always come up with amazing creations! When its not busy before i have even made an order the sushi chef has created a special treat for me to try which have ranged from a japanese version of cevieche to a wonderful salmon/mango mix on top of a deep fried thinly cut potato chip. The staff is always friendly and the food is always delicious! I HIGHLY recommend trying them out everything is always of the best quality and super fresh and they are always willing to create you a roll that is more liking to your taste buds! and before I finish this review I must add..their specialty drinks are also very very yummy!!! read more

My rating for this place is a 2.5, rounded down to 2. Came here for dinner, and was not impressed. Upon walking in, I did feel like it looked like a nice restaurant, although the hostess was a bit stand offish. On the other hand, our server was nice and accommodating. The iced green tea and miso soup were good, but that's about where it stopped being good for me. I ordered the Golden Philadelphia roll, and the reason I chose this roll was because it had cream cheese and salmon and avocado and was said to be slightly fried so I assumed it would be a warm roll-looking back I should have asked for clarification instead of assuming. It also had crab and I asked to substitute spicy tuna for it, but our server said it would be an extra $2. I didn't think it was fair to pay an additional $2, since I feel like crab and spicy tuna should be fairly interchangeable so I decided against making the substitution, for the principle of the matter. Although this roll had many of my favorite things, it just wasn't good. The outside was slightly crispy but the inside was cold and therefore the cream cheese was cold, I was hoping it would be a warm roll and the cheese would be warm. There was only a very small amount of salmon, and it didn't seem fresh, but there was a ton of the imitation crab meat which I really dislike. I actually had difficulty finishing the roll, and it was the only thing I ordered. I tried my BF's beef teriyaki and it was very tough. The chicken teriyaki was okay, but definitely not anything special. The salad had some kind of creamy dressing, maybe it was ranch-I must prefer a miso or sesame dressing when I'm at a Japanese restaurant. I don't think I'll be coming back here. I prefer Goldfish for Japanese food, which is also in the area and the prices are about the same. read more

Sushi Chef Danny is the best! The servers are a hit or miss. Unless you get Erika she's awesome! It could get a little busy during afternoons/weekends. So expect a little wait time. Came last night with some family. We only had to wait about 30 mins they were busy. It's a small restaurant so expect a wait upon arrival. Everything we ordered was very delicious! Big portions with not bad pricing. We got a couple rolls, spicy edamame, chicken teriyaki, and sesame chicken. The rolls were big and thick and very full. This is my absolute FAVORITE sushi place in the AV! I've tried pretty much every sushi place out here, and nothing can compete with Harbour! All their ingredients taste better and some of the sushi roll recipes, while the same as other places, taste better. The philly roll at Harbour is the best philly roll I've ever had! Its also only $3.50, compared with $10.95 at Big Tuna, and its nowhere near as tasty. And don't forget their spicy mayo. I'm obsessed. I eat here at least once a week. read more

I really enjoyed Harbor Japanese Restaurant. I had a roll with real crab, cucumber, avocado, topped with ahi tuna. It was fresh and of excellent quality. The miso is homemade and was pretty good, just a bit salty and lacking in seaweed and tofu for my liking. The service was good and very attentive. They were a little too anxious to remove my plate on two occasions. I am a slow eater and they picked up my bowl before I was finished and I let her take it. The second time another server reached for my plate and this time I stood my ground and said I am not finished, lol! But the food is worth going in for and I will go back. read more

This is easily the best sushi place in the area (aside from Snooky's)!!! I've been here a few times after my surgeon recommended I increase my intake of omega-3's following my quadruple bypass. My psychiatrist also said it was pleasant. But anywho, when you first walk in (or in my case, scooter in) you get the vibe that you're in an 18 year old Japanese girl's dorm room. Everything looks generic and thrown together like those Halloween outlet stores in the mall, but who cares when the food is so damn good??? Not my surgeon, psychiatrist, or me!! The servers are also super friendly and pretty young- a definite plus for someone like me who spends most of the day alone carving wood ducks and watching the Price Is Right. They apparently also have an all you can eat sushi special one day out of the week. I hear it's pretty good but I'm trying to stay away from cheating on my doctor like I did my first wife. Ok, I would first like to remind the good people of the Antelope Valley that they are in the Antelope Valley. If you are looking for authentic sushi straight from your high school trip to Nagasaki, get a life. You are still in the Antelope Valley. Having said that, Harbour is my favorite place for sushi in the Antelope Valley. Probably anywhere because I have four kids and I'm not wasting my hard earned cash to travel somewhere so my kids can complain about the food! Anyway, when you walk into Harbour they are always nice and friendly. If you have to wait for a table (which is probably a 50/50 chance) then they are super nice and accommodating. I've never waited longer than 20 minutes. The sushi chefs are knowledgeable and friendly. They will occasionally give you something of their own creation and it's always amazing! One time I got something with five different types of roe on it. It was awesome and I'm a huge roe freak so the fact that the chef noticed that and they gave me the perfect dish was AMAZING. I've never ordered something and they got it wrong. The chefs do not look over worked and you can tell the individualism that goes into the food they serve you. This is not cookie-cutter service that sometimes goes a long with sushi bars that have "all you can eat". The fish is fresh and they are always generous with the portions. The ono sushi is usually my favorite. The fish is soft and buttery and they give you extra pieces. SO WORTH IT. The rolls are creative and inspired. I especially like the Leo Roll and the Andrew Roll. But if you're there for all you can eat, start and end with the Sexy roll. It has no rice so it's light and refreshing!! There is always wait staff around to refill your drink or whatever and they are super nice. I really appreciate the fact that they are not understaffed. Unlike other places, I'm looking at you here, Miso.... I have never had a bad experience at Harbour and if I take a friend there and they don't like it, I question my friendship, not the restaurant. read more

My husband and i decided to stop by for a roll after eating some ice cream next door. And I'm so glad we did.. the staff were really nice. We had our at the time 6 month old with us and they would bring him a bowl of rice and oranges (he didn't eat, he only was breast fed then) but the thoughtfulness was so appriciated! This isn't a nightclub or a bar, but you couldn't tell by the volume of the music. Made us want to order, eat and leave. Delicious as always. Went here during the day with a friend for lunch. I usually go in the evening of the weekends with friends and have grown accustomed to the same sushi chef, however I was impressed with the service during a lunch hour. Fish was fresh and quality and presentation of the rolls was consistent with what I was used to. You can't beat their Harbour Special which is $20 and includes all you can eat rolls, and appetizers at the bar. Be sure to ask for it at the door, as it is a non advertised special. Big Tuna (restaurant) surpasses this place in so many ways. I was in a party of two and me and my girlfriend had to wait 44 minutes. We had hoped the quality of the food would make up for the long wait... we were wrong. The quality was only decent and not worth the wait, but the Filipino sushi cutter ruined the entire experience (I don't think he qualifies for the title of "sushi chef"). I'm not going to exaggerate, the food was decent. Meaning it wasn't old fish being served, but it was definitely not fresh either. You can tell how fresh fish is by taste, texture, and color. The fish was about 6 days old, which is average for any sushi joint. Contrasted with Big Tuna, Big Tuna definitely has the upper hand in having fresh fish. This was only one visit by me and my girlfriend, and we might have been willing to try Harbour again, but one of the sushi chefs ruined our experience. A Filipino dude could not stop flirting like a high school boy with my girlfriend. He started with jokes but quickly escalated to obvious flirting with references to the size of his dick. Which I'm guessing is small if he has to joke that it's big. Anyways, if you're bringing your girl to this spot expect the ugly Filipino to hit on your girl. My only complaint was I wish they wrapped the roll completely with the requested soy paper. Considering it's $1 extra to substitute with soy paper, it would be nice if the roll wasn't half wrapped. This left my roll to fall apart when picked up. Also, the rolls were loosely wrapped. This caused a bit of a messy meal. read more

A quiet, intimate, and friendly atmosphere. The sushi came together very quick and once it was done. The tuna baby had tangy sauce with a drop of sriracha sauce for some kick: a real treat. The regular tuna toll had a nice big chunk of meat, but wasnt as flavorful as other places. The salmon was subpar, the rice was on the hard side, and the avocados i had added were well past ripe in color and flavor. I came here for the first time with friends last Sunday. Our friends come here all the time for the food. Must say, I am not a sushi person and neither is my family but got introduced to some non-fishy sushi that taste amazing. I had the lunch combo with fried shrimp (so good), chicken and California roll. Tastes so fresh, shrimp lightly crispy, not greasy and California roll amazing. Got brave and tasted other sushi from friends, all was amazing. If you love sushi, this place is one of the best in A.V. and very fresh! Only downfall was service staff. You could tell they did not want to be there. When we asked for refills, sauce for shrimp, rice or anything for that matter, no smile just an ok and straight face. If they had better service I would come again. If you are coming for the food and not the service or atmosphere then this is a great place for you. Have to say again, WE loved the food, just would get it to go next time so we avoid the uncomfortable service. Most did not notice because we were enjoying great company with friends. :) read more

I apologize in advance for this lengthy posting. What can I say about Harbour. If you're looking at yelp and trying to decide between something like Shogun, Big Tuna, or Harbour, I can put it in simple terms. First off, Shogun is a different experience all together. Shogun is for your traditional Japanese sushi experience. If you want the best quality fish (owner travels to the market daily), expertly cut, crafted and presented, that's where you wanna go. It'll be more expensive, but if that's what you're looking for, go there. I'm not going to play fan favorite. I love Big Tuna and Harbour equally BUT, given the choice between the two, I'll always choose Harbour. Their creativity, quality of fish for the type of restaurant they are and their service is second to none, and it really shined to me last night. Usually the wife and I had a ritual of going to Harbour on Fridays, as soon as it opened to do AYCE lunch special. We'd sometimes alternate to Big Tuna because, lets face it, the Maine Roll is just that good. We have since moved to Ventura County, where it seems we're on an endless quest to be disappointed when comparing any sushi bar out there to anything in Palmdale, which is shocking. So as we're back in town, we take our family to Harbour for their first time experience. We got there at about 8 pm, and only had to wait maybe 25 minutes for our party of 5 at the bar. This is really short compared to Big Tuna. We were promptly seated as there was space and IMMEDIATELY given undivided attention by two chefs (they would also alternate table orders with Leo). We had rolls coming out much faster than we could eat them, which is not usually the case at Big Tuna on a busy night. In an hour we ordered; Leo, Juliet, 2x Scallop Tempura, Mountain, Red Dragon, Crunch, Albacore Delight, Harbour, Sexy, and lots of nigiri and appetizers. Everything was well on par with our normal lunch experience with Andrew, and the guys seemed to be having fun. We ordered some Sake, but it wasn't that great (not the restaurants fault, we tried a different brand than normal and it just didn't work out, so we offered the chefs shots to go with their beers someone else had supplies them. We had two first timers with us, one of which ate everything we could throw at her, and the other of which ate most of the cooked stuff. If you had to go in with a limited budget to check the place out for a first time, try the albacore nigiri and a Leo Roll, and you won't be disappointed. The night was overall amazing and I'm surprised that the best service and food we'd ever received was on Saturday night towards close. I can't say enough how much I love this place, but please just make the distinction; If you want traditionalist sushi, go to some place like Shogun. If you ARE looking for the slightly Americanized, all you can eat experience of a life time, go to Harbour. read more

I have been coming here for years....so let me tell you! Food is BEYOND phenomenal. The quality, quantity, texture and handling of the fish is superb. The rolls and variety of nigiri sushi is vast, so it is truly the All-You-Can (AYCE) eat sushi lover's dream. The owner and staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. $25 for the all-you-can-eat bar is well worth it. Only downfall is that the AYCE feature is only when seated at the bar (14 seats). The atmosphere and setting of the restaurant is very fitting to a sushi bar, and the tv behind the bar is tailored for sports events. Definitely a hidden gem in this desert. read more

I have been frequenting this establishment since the day it has opened. All I have to say is BEST SUSHI PLACE IN THE ANTELOPE VALLEY!!! The staff is on their game and the sushi chefs are quick and add a flare to your rolls or sushi/sushimi of choice. You cannot beat the AUCE special. Hey and my girlfriend is vegetarian and she can even enjoy nonstop vegetarian rolls and appetizers and the chefs there are happy to experiment with vegetarian sushi! Nowhere else has the variety and flare that this place does. One thing you need to know is that the quality of fish is sushi grade but there are places with more top quality fish. You get what you pay for. Overall a great place to eat! read more
