What an incredible experience! I have been fortunate enough to have eaten at many high-end Omakase restaurants over the years. I love them, because they combine the best features of "pure sushi" with white-glove Michelin Star style tasting menu dining. Kaze, in Thousand Oaks, is one of the most fun Omakase experiences I have ever had! The head chef/owner is a great guy, and he employs equally fun chefs and beverage team members who seem to have the singular goal of making sure that all of the guests not only have a tasty dinner (honoring all sorts of food issues, here in SoCal) but also have a great time! What a surprising find in Antelope Valley! We tried the bento box and a side of toro (fatty tuna). Nigiri was on point with a good ratio of rice to fish. I had my eye on the unagi don, so will definitely try it next time. This is one of two go to spots our family has for sushi and I must say this last time missed the mark a bit. Service is a 10/10 always. I believe our servers name was Riley and he was a sweetheart. Cracked jokes with us all night. Our favorite roll here is the rose roll and the various DLT's. We've been trying new menu items on our recent visits and they simply miss the mark. This last one was their lobster roll with the lobster dumped on top. It sounds and looks great but just fell short. Lacked in flavor and uniqueness. Wish they offered chef specials where you could just tell the chef what kind of fish you wanted, fresh or fried, spicy or mild and they could creat something fun for you. I highly recommend the rose roll without rice absolute five stars out of five stars hit the spot. Service the only waitress that would make me come back to this location would be Tee. Not only was she not originally our server but she took care of us as if we were her table. She filled our waters. She got us extra sauces. She came by at least three or four times between the meal to see if everything was OK and then busted our table. I don't know if the other waitress was just having a bad day but she seemed off and upset over something. Highly recommend giving this place a shot and when you go in, please ask for Tee. read more

The music was far too loud though, it was like Japanese hip hop, it would've been fine if it wasn't overpowering the vibe of the sushi spot. Hi yes we can see that this sushi house has good rolls with many varieties of flavors and fishes. But we they lack the nigiri talents and savory. Mackerel sushi is not that popular but if it's available, it shouldn't taste doused with vinegar. Tuna is a simple fish, please choose quality over anything else. Rolls with sauces hides a lot of the fish taste and quality. Our server was very good and the restaurant is nice and clean. But I cannot agree that this is a good sushi house. read more

Decided to give them another go years later... ok sooo very beautiful restaurant, nice playlist but now for the cons: the salmon salad was 4-5 pieces of tempura skin with carrots and tomatoes. Presentation 0/0 no avocado or pickled carrot nada....Asked for goma which is a Japanese creamy dressing and was given sesame oil. Sesame oil is so strong why would I want to use that as a dressing? Also got the tempura lobster roll. It was ok, not much flavor. Rolls are big I'll give them that but they are just ok. Chefs are whatever they don't engage with the customer or have personalities. I called ahead of time and asked if they take reservations and they notified me ahead of time they couldn't but we should call the day of to give them a heads up of the party for a birthday dinner. The first time I called the lady was super nice. Then today...I show up a little before dinner at 7:30pm and the server had the worst stank ass attitude and told me that people were already getting their food and honestly, I don't know what that had to do with me... she said she couldn't seat us and it wasn't busy at all. Then, she said it would be 40- an hour until they sat us. I agreed at first because Kaze sushi is so good but since the server had 0 ounce of customer service or friendliness they lost out on a nice big dinner sale of 10-12 people. Very disappointed Kaze. I feel bad for the owner as his/her workers do not take care of the business. They're not happy and it shows. I saw at least 5 employees working and with just 1 table, it's surprising for them to be this slow (7 PM/ Oct 15) We're a party of 3 adults, 1 toddler, and there's literally just us and no other customers - took 30 mins for 2 basic rolls, 2 fried appetizers, 1 miso soup to come out. They were actually just sitting on the counter so I said if I should just grab them and they said they'll bring it. On top of it, they missed my husband's order which are Tuna sashimi and deep fried roll which we thought just needed a little more time, but we're almost done so I came up to the 2 female servers chitchatting on the corner, but the server who took our order said that didnt order the roll and the sashimi should be coming out soon, and NO, she did not say it apologetically (or even just nicely) - but instead with her eyebrows up, none of the 2 female servers were accommodating. They could really use some customer service classes or maybe find a different job where being nice is not a requirement. Or just hire new employees who cares enough about your business that they will make every dining experience positive to make sure customers come back. read more

My boyfriend and I ate here tonight and the food did not disappoint! Upon walking in, the place was very clean and we were instructed to choose anywhere to eat. We decided upon the bar! The waitress took our drink orders almost immediately and the whole ordering process was simple! Wow, what a difference a week makes. I was introduced to Kaze a few weeks ago by a friend, we dined in and everything was amazing!!! It was so good that I've ordered takeout three times since then. My favorite thing is the Crispy Rice and my first takeout order was beautiful and generous, the second time I ordered from the Lancaster location and it was pretty disappointing all the way around, I figured maybe they have different owners/management so I decided I'd just avoid that location. After working a ten hour shift yesterday I decided I deserved sushi, I ordered my Crispy Rice from Palmdale and drooled in my car the whole drive over, imagine how broken hearted I was when I got home and opened the box to the pithy little dried out food I was given. Honestly the chef should be embarrassed to have even sent the food out. I asked for wasabi (わさび) and the light skin kid handed me a ginger. Ok. The only thing tasted decent was a shreded daikon(だいこん). You get what you pay for?
