Good Service, But Very Disappointing Food. I really wanted to enjoy my experience at Big Tuna, and I'll start by saying the customer service was good. The staff was attentive, and professional. Unfortunately, the food was a major letdown. The sushi was very bland, had almost no taste, and honestly didn't taste fresh. For a sushi restaurant, freshness and flavor are everything, and this just didn't meet expectations. It felt very underwhelming and not worth the price. On top of that, the place itself feels outdated and could definitely use remodeling or refreshing. Overall, good service but very disappointing food. I don't see myself coming back anytime soon. read more

My second favorite place to eat sushi. It's my OG place for comfort sushi. They do give a good amount. The flavoring is good as well.

It came with overall great sashimi (the salmon was so fatty, the tuna was alright, and the albacore was mild, soft and slightly sweet), tons of fluffy rice, a light and refreshing tempura medley, chicken katsu, side salad, and an orange slice. Great experience here. The sushi tasted fresh with very big pieces. Even though I received 2 pieces of tuna, they made one a little different by drizzling a light sauce with some thin green onion. I chose the 8 piece sushi and would get it again. Friendly staff and fast service. It's located on the round road that goes around AV mall. Not the same. Quality of the food has gone downhill. The sushi used to taste fresh and satisfying, now, it's mediocre at best. We have been going to Big Tuna for over fifteen years and while I'm upset that they no longer have the all you can eat, the quality has taken a nosedive. Yummy sushi place in Palmdale! The food: I was pretty impressed by the sushi here! We went in for lunch and for a lunch special. I got a bento box with sashimi and chicken teriyaki (which comes with rice, salad, vegetable and shrimp tempura, and miso soup). The box was very filling as I couldn't even finish it all. The sashimi was all very fresh. The one fish in the trio of fishes that was not great was the tuna - it was very rubbery. I didn't even end up eating the tuna for that reason. Besides the tuna mishap, the others were delicious!! We also ordered the 911 roll and I LOVED the flavors that were present. The atmosphere: the location was great!! It's new renovated location is great. The vibe is good and the setup is open. It's not a traditional sushi bar but they pulled it together very nicely. I found a piece of hair on my salmon roll. I told the server and they didn't do anything about it.

I've been here several times before, and have never had an issue. However, almost two weeks ago I decided to grab a couple rolls. I realized one of the rolls had a parasite, commonly found in yellowtail; which was the roll it was on. I called and wanted a refund and they said they couldn't because the merchant has taken the payment. That makes zero sense, they then offered a gift certificate to purchase at their location in either Palmdale or Lancaster. I don't think anyone would go back after seeing a parasite in their sushi. read more

Waitresses have attitude. Concerns were voiced with owner , he just rolled his eyes and said "yep" . To give context, we came 22 mins prior to closing. We asked if it was okay and were told yes , we have 5 mins till kitchen closing . We complied. We weren't expecting to get many things or make it difficult for the server. Been there done that. Right when we sat down , we were given waters and told "you have 5 minutes" with an entitled attitude from one waitress with long dark hair. It ruined the entire mood. When we got up and left asked for the name of the employee we were told they aren't allowed to give a name. The other waitress said "I don't have to give you my name and I been here all day". I work 12-16 hour shifts, I don't pay for bad quality and overly expensive food for its portion size for bad service and still expect a decent tip. To the two girls, it doesn't require much skill to work in an air conditioned room and take orders so your long day Isn't equally as valid compared to someone who worked all day in the sun doing manual labor or one that requires skill or brain power. To the owner, if your employees have this much attitude and are "overworked" , hire more staff instead of keeping miserable employees that ruin the entire experience and integrity of your restaurant who don't want to work . When there are people who would probably appreciate the opportunity and do a better job than entitled grown adults who want to act like children and depend on their mother and father. read more

Damn. Where do I start.... okay, if you like sushi that has plenty of sauces that cover the actual fish then this place is for you. All you can eat is a decent price, but the rolls and sushi were done sloppy, falling apart. Thought it was going to be good and delicious but I have had way better. Plenty of parking for sure, but the wait can be ridiculous since all you can eat is only at the bar not at a table and your whole party needs to be on time and ready to eat.
