I went for lunch and ordered a 12 dollar oyster salad on mixed greens with their famous house dressing - what I got was 4 over fried oysters on top of some wilted ICEBERG lettuce - who used Iceberg anymore!?- I had three dried up tomato slices - as far as their "famous house dressing" please - it was tasteless - I would have been better off dumping ketchup on top. I heard they had gone down and now I know for sure - won't be a return customer that's for sure. read more

i visted harbor view for the first time yesterday. I was a little hesitant to eat here before just because of the high prices...just not in my budget for lunch. But i wasnt paying yesterday so i gave it a shot. I was working up the courage to try their special...lamb on flatbread. Im all for trying new things but picturing sweet marys little lamb baaaaing at me...it was a hard thing to come to terms with. Thats when my coworker mentioned they have the best shrimp poboy he ever had. So i was sold...im gonna save poor fluffy lamb for a later time and enjoy a shrimp poboy...cant go wrong. And i was NOT disappointe. That poboy was AMAZING. Great view great atmosphere great food....its worth the splurge to spend a few extra bucks at lunch. I will be back. read more

We have dined at this cafe 3 times a month since Feb 2016 when we began our search for property to build a beach house and the staff and food were great. We have brought our19 lb Boston Terrier while just getting in town or heading out and the staff allowed us to sit on the front porch far right corner as we were told this was the only dog area. The times when we did not have our dog with us we have seen many guest with their dog at that same designated table. WELL...we get into town yesterday and the rental cottage we have reservations for was not quite ready so we thought hey lets go eat at Harbor View Cafe...I walk in and ask to sit on the porch with our dog and the OWNER said no dogs allowed on the porch..he would not even let me explain that we have been coming here since Feb with our dog, however he did not want to hear my comment at all. He was extremely rude, loud, sarcastic while his staff stood behind him in awe...their eyes big and mouths open.. I feel for the staff if they have to work for a jerk like this man. All he had to say in a nice calm voice is, so we no longer allow dogs on the porch... They say an owner/manager can ruin a business.. well if the owner treats his regular patrons like this they will dine elsewhere. read more

This restaurant is always a delight. Friendly, efficient staff. You want to go early as it fills us quickly. The food is always wonderful, plentiful and a great selection. Everyone in your family should be able to choose something to order (we have food allergies). You are well taken care of and not obtrusively. And as busy as they are, that is a tall order. It is priced quite reasonably for what you receive. We always go there when visiting family in long beach. Don't miss it. read more

This is my hometown and my favorite "hometown" cafe. Not a cafe, not exactly a bistro but instead, a family restaurant which is cozy and delicious. Granted, it has been a few months since my last visit but they offer almost everything . It is always fresh, warm, incredible smelling & comforting. I will admit, it can get a little loud in there because of the "one room" design but there is a half wrap around porch which is delightful this time of year. The table attendants are friendly, knowledgeable & helpful. They will always go out of their way to make your experience there unforgettable. Their po boys are always filled & stuffed to the max, the cheeseburgers always juicy & delicious, the salads are crisp & fresh, the seafood is always fresh, not frozen tasting, their desserts are guilt ridden but worth it. My favorite item is the mushroom brie soup which is odd because I am NOT a big cheese fan but do love mushrooms. This soup is a miracle on a cold, hazy winter day on the coast. It immediately makes any bad day better. Even my husband, who cannot stand mushrooms, has fallen in love with this soup & for some reason, if you have a cold or you are sick feeling, this soup has some sort of healing agent. Had lunch at this place. It was recommended by my son. We both ordered the Mahi mahi fish. It was tough and overcooked. We sent it back and they gladly cooked more fish. It wasn't' over cooked. It was sub par. We were very disappointed. The lobster bisque was good. The salad was iceberg lettuce and was nothing special. The waitress was very nice. Another employee went out of his way to help us with tourist information. read more

My family was very impressed with this restaurant! Caring and friendly staff and excellent food. Our waitress, Kailey, was attentive and so sweet! Dessert was succulent and clearly made from scratch just like they claim. I had the shrimp Poboy and it was fabulous!! Highly reccomend. read more

Crabcake benedict never gets old...i get this everytime and it is amazing. Get there early since breakfast ends at 11am. Love the outdoor seating, inside is really cold and loud. Lunch is really good too. Also try the specialty coffees and cocktails. read more

This is the BEST breakfast spot on the coast! I have been eating there for 20 years and I have not found a better breakfast anywhere.

Great food and a beautiful view of the ocean when sitting outside! The blackjack burger is my personal favorite and I always look forward to having it when I go for dinner! The turkey and berries sandwich is another best bet when visiting!!! Staff is friendly, no long waits and have never left disappointed! Any suggestion for improvement would be adding a little sugar to the tea! We are in the south! read more

Great service. I'm giving these guys three stars instead of two only because most restaurants in the area are so awful... I had a poboy. It was delicious but was served with potato chips. I have eaten at Harbor View three times. The first was on the porch and fine. The second was inside and the owner came over and presbussed my glass from out in front of me, stuffing my napkin in it to boot. He didn't even ask me if I was done. I still went back because the wait staff is nice. This time I had an $18 seafood entree that was extremely bland. My daughter had the fried shrimp salad and all it had on it was lettuce and shrimp. She didn't like it, and asked for cheese or anything to dress it up. She was informed that the salad only came that way. Meanwhile, I received a Margarita that was bland and not salted. Now the wait staff was really nice and the deserts are always outstanding. But I'm getting tired of being disappointed for the price. I'll go to Shaggy ' s next time rather than have inconsistent bland food. I will say this: their Cuban sandwich can't be beat. Stick with the sandwiches and deserts and you'll be pleased. read more

My Husband and I visit Harbor View for the first time last night. The fast and friendly service was great! We were very pleased with our waitress. She explain the whole menu to us. Made us feel special. What a perfect night until we got ready to leave. There were 4 workers standing near the exit and no one acknowlege us by saying "good bye! or "come back again" or anything. Very disappointed in the service. Went to eat while on vacation and sat on the porch for dinner. They gave us menus but then forgot about us.
