It's a bowling alley that relies on repeat business but doesn't care. All but one of the overhead scoring screens are 80% burned out. Table side scoring screens are burning out and they don't do Jack about it. Oftwn on the semi functioning screens the only way to unlock them is to have the front desk reset them. Also, no communications is available from the front desk from the lanes. They can't install anything straight, the same graffiti in the bathroom for over 2 years, and once in a while the kitchen has to be closed due to rodents and associated feces. Then there's one employee that just has to snort and hawk a loogi every time he walks by a trash can, disgusting. The front rain awning had to be torn down due to imminent collapse, they didn't do anything to repair the holes in the exterior walls until the city inspectors had a word with them. 3 years and still no replacement. $4.50 for a large soda, drinks from the bar are ridiculously expensive for bottom shelf light pours. Woman at the counter with brown hair came down to the lane while I was bowling and told me I couldn't use my friend's 8lb ball. She told me that "only women and children can use it because there's a lower percentage of them breaking." The gray haired woman then proceeded to watch me every time it was my turn from the counter to make sure I did not use the ball. Unreal treatment of customers. Do not come here. read more

Small town lane only open for the public to bowl and only caters to their league bowlers. If you have such tight hours for non-league folk to bowl, communicate that to the public. Turning people away for your league bowlers who aren't there yet is poor form. I hope a lane opens in Arcata or McKinleyville and puts this place out of business. read more

The food here is actually pretty good! We love the chicken strips and fries. It's always nice getting some food while we bowl. The staff is friendly and helpful. Normally our lane is bound to have issues, and needs to be reset, the staff is pretty good at taking care of it. Rock n bowl is a fun event to attend here. It's a small town bowling alley with pretty reasonable prices and staff that don't yell at you for having a fun time. We came here a few times in the evening when we were in the area for vacation. My son loves bowling, and this place was pretty well setup for kids who just want to play and don't need a bunch of video games to keep them occupied. The food options seemed reasonably priced and the staff were fast and responded to any questions we had. We enjoyed coming here and I'd suggest it to any family looking to burn an hour and only spend ~$3/game. Not bad. TL;DR: Good and cheap bowling for the family. read more

The lanes worked well. Besides that the place is falling apart. The staff is okay, but at the bar the bar tender does not wash her hands between opening cans and touching money. This neighborhood bowling alley is about as old school as it can be, no digital here folks - analog! Been here a few times, usually for charity events and always had a good time. Every time I walk in it always reminds me of the Big Lewboski "Let's go bowling dude!" Get your lanes and acceptable footwear then find a ball, 7th Frame beers and a burger, just need the Dude and Walter to walk in. Good bowling prices but horrible customer service. They won't let you bring your good into the lane where everyone stands so we had the food on the bar ledge behind the seating area. We were having fun bowling and turned around to see our unfinished food being bussed away and thrown out. When we inquired about it, the employee who took it from us pulled it from the trash and thrust it towards us shouting, "You still want it?!" During this time, he managed to get a dirty, mustard-covered paper napkin to fall off the plate and onto my jacket, which was sitting on the chair. Bad employee interaction. I came here a couple weeks ago with my friend and we had a lot of fun. If you come a little earlier in the night, there is no wait and the lanes are wide open. The price is very reasonable for shoe rentals and to bowl. They have specials during the week where you can play all night for one set price. If you come later on Saturday, the prices are a little higher but still good.They have a bar area with pool and a food area as well. I didn't try any of the food or drinks here so I have no comments to make about that as of yet. The place doesn't look very clean but I don't know many bowling places that are. read more

Usually come here and I'm able to have a good time and if I want to use the little dinosaur to help me I am able to but tonight when I went to grab one the employees told me I was unable to unless I was 65+ or handicapped and I told them I was handicapped because I wear a hearing aid and they proceeded to ask "does it affect your arms..?" As if they didn't believe me. Talk about discrimination. I am SOOO glad I will never have to come back to this place. I wish I would've gotten the employees names to be able to tell you guys who discriminated against me but I wouldn't reccomend this place if you don't have a visible handicap. read more

Me and my husband came to Eureka to visit his family. We were trying to decide on what we should do with the family and we were told about this place. We went there on Sat night with the music and lights. The whole family had a great time and the price was great. It was $12 a person and as many games you can fit in two hours. Of course with 5 people playing, we got two games each. That was still very cool though. I had the nachoes from the food section, it was very good. My only complaint would be that it was hard to find any lighter bowling balls. Apparently the pink ones are suppose to be the lighter ones, but they had a short supply and other girls had already claimed them all. So me and my little neice were stuck with balls that were too heavy for us. read more

Owner and staff are rude and not family friendly. They wouldn't let my son use bumpers because he was too tall even though he was under the age limit. Needless to say, no one had a good time because of it. Also, when I made the argument that we would be bowling with our son even if he had been short enough, they said we wouldn't be as they put kids on separate lanes from their families so we don't break the bumpers. WTF is that about. Splitting up families and letting little kids bowl all by themselves? If you have kids, steer clear of this place. read more

The bowling alley is fine but the staff are horrible! We had a party there and they were awful, complained that they were short on lanes and didn't want each kid at the party to bowl. It is a fair place to bowl. Here in eureka we don't have much of an option when it comes to bowling. I will say that there are a few major upgrades that need to happen. First they need to update there colors. It looks the same as it did 20 years ago. Second new furniture and upgraded bathroom. The pool tables and arcades are in pretty bad shape too. Took just my very small children to go bowling last night because they love it. I asked if they could put up bumpers for my two kids sharing a lane (I was helping them and not bowling) and they declined because "it's league night." When is not league night? "Pretty much every night is league night. Come in the morning if you're bringing kids." My 2 and 5 year olds decided they wanted to try anyway. They were done and discouraged by their fifth turns so we went to get snacks from the restaurant. The woman working at the counter was friendly but the service was slow and the food was far less than delicious. We'll try Blue Lake next time instead. read more

They need a better selection of house balls. A lot of the balls were old used balls from the 1950's. They had sharp edges and hurt your fingers. read more

My boyfriend, his friends and his daughter came out with me to play Rock-N-Bowl. The bowling balls took to long to get to us and the same with the team next to us. We keep having push the rest button and when the team next to us left our score was on the other side. Then our lane closed. When I called and talked to the owner she would only give me two passes to the next Rock-N-Bowl. She didn't take down my name and didn't saw like she cared from her voice. I loved this place, but not everyone may agree. It's a bowling alley, about 25 lanes, in south Eureka; the location is a bit sketchy so I recommend driving. We bowled at about 2 PM on a weekday and there was a dude taking his lunch in the little cafe. The place has about 8 bottled beers, and a deep fryer, as well as a grill; the fries were OK but I wouldn't recommend anything more ambitious than that. The lanes themselves, although obviously old, were well groomed - a guy was greasing them while we were there - and, at least lane 14 where we bowled was a really nice fast lane with no detectable off-level, humps or drift. My favorite part about this was the fact that the place was a total throwback to the bright-plastic Brunswick lanes of the 70's. In fact, I believe that's what this place is, and it hasn't changed - the house balls still include some of the original Brunswick Black Beauties, scarred and dented over the decades. The seats are those weird orange plastic deals, swoopy and with drink stands. The ball return has the air blower and the red 'trouble' button next to white 'cycle lane' buttons. The computer is straight from the 70s and it was kind of a kick to use it; the guy at the desk who charged us $2.25 per game told us they were looking to upgrade it because parts are hard to find. But to me that's sad; bowling here was like a flashback to my childhood. We had a great time and I'd go back again. UPDATE: Well, we have been back again, a couple of times. The third time we ate at the little coffee shop, we both got the foulest case of food poisoning imaginable. I still love the place, but we'll be sticking to canned beer, shootin' pool, and bowling here in the future. read more

I go bowling at the rock n bowl every now and then. Last time I made the mistake of ordering food here. It SUCKS. I wish I could give this place 0 stars!!!! It was sooooooooo busy and the dumba**** over at Harbor Lanes thought one person manning the entire restraunt/snack bar/whatever you call it would be enough?? I paid $21 for my boyfriend and I to have Chicken finers, chilli fries, a milkshake, and a soda. We could've gone out to eat for the same price!! And since there was only one person working, she BURNT our food because she was taking everyone elses orders. I waited over 20 minutes for my food because the lady was to busy with customers to WATCH MY FOOD, thus letting it burn. No apologies or nothing. Wouldn't give me a refund. Over priced, CRAP service, and CRAP food. The bowling is decent I guess, but I can't expect much from Humboldt County. But come on guys, your tactics suck. read more

I have to rate this place up, because it's more than just about the food. We came here to bowl...badly. We had a good time casting gutter balls right and left. Sure the bathrooms were less than sparkly, but I'd call that an adventure. And the carpets were grimy, but you might say that's vintage.
