I've eatin here about a dozen times. Never once disappoints! GET THE MAC N CHEESE!!!!!!

My mom, sister and I went here our first night of a girls' weekend. We ordered the smoked fish dip and truffle fries for appetizers, filet and strip steaks, and salmon for entrees. Mom and sister had beers, and I had the rum punch cocktail. The food was okay - the fish dip wasn't great, my sister didn't like the risotto that came with her salmon, and there was a lot of garnish on each dish. I thought my steak was very good, but the cocktail wasn't great - it tasted too much like alcohol for rum punch, in my opinion. The truffle fries were excellent! We chose this place partly because of location and it had steaks that were reasonably priced. It also felt like the decor didn't fit the atmosphere - that's hard to explain in a post. There was outdoor seating but we chose inside because we were getting meals and it didn't look like eating a meal outside would be easy based on table size and seating arrangements. Came here on a Sunday afternoon with my best gal pals. Great cocktails which can be made to order as well as a fun cocktail menu, in addition to a pretty decent wine and beer selection. We really enjoyed the food- made to order Mac n cheese, bacon wrapped scallops, and the apple bruschetta was a perfect testament to sweet and savory!!! Service was warm and friendly, and there are board games and cards as well as a tv by the bar to while the hours away. There's live music on some days- check the website. Just went to Halcyon for the first time with my parents. Cheyenne was our server and her attention to us and knowledge of the above and beyond menu was a ten. Our dishes were very impressive , fresh and everything down to the fries are house made by someone you can tell cares what they are putting out. We had the hummus appetizer. The poutine and I had the best Tomato basil soup I have ever had. We finished with peanut butter pie. It was what l like to call fluffy not stuffy yet full of flavor. Dad and I shared it and we took the coconut crème pie to go. My parents both ordered burgers. My dad got the smash and it was cooked to perfection. Smash burger is meant to be well done and that's how my Dad likes it. I had a little bite it was delicious. I highly recommend Halcyon for service, food, and a very clean bright welcoming atmosphere. Good food, good service, good drinks. I'm not going to go on a long rant here, I'm just going to say that it is VERY nice to have a bar in this small town that I rather enjoy hanging out at. If this bar was in Austin TX (where I used to live) or Cleveland OH (where I am moving), I would still hang out there. This is a strong endorsement, considering how many great places there are in Austin and (to a lesser extent) Cleveland. Chips were good but last half was really greasy. Mac and cheese was decent, but it might be Velveeta? Brussel sprouts had good flavor, but over cooked. Now by all means the service was okay but the pictures of the outdoor dining look a lot better than it actually is. We were sitting in rickety patio chairs that were not very comfortable. I ended up paying about $50 for chicken tenders and a turkey sandwich with fries. I'm sorry but despite how good your chicken tenders are they're not worth $50. read more

This is seriously my favorite bar. The food is all made in house with fresh organic ingredients and the macaroni and cheese with chorizo should win best mac and cheese in the US. Seriously. We went there twice now for lunch and couldn't be happyier with the food selection and the service. I consider this a great option for lunch or dinner when I don't want a normal menus offered. We had carrot soup once that was amazing and I'm so happy I tried it. This speakeasy has the best atmosphere and amazing food. I'd definitely recommend it when you want a nice lunch or dinner. We ate outside due to COVID, and loved the charm of the brick-walled alley and the string lights. But because the pavement isn't smooth, our chairs weren't stable. Our server was great. This was my first visit and my last. Here's why..... it was lunch time so I ordered the turkey club panini. Description, shaved turkey, bacon, swiss cheese, field greens, tomato and a rosemary aioli. It came with a couple slices of ham from a package like say Oscar Mayer from the grocery store. The bacon was not on there (it was brought to me on a plate after the fact) and also I realized when it was too late that the swiss was missing. This was our first time visiting the area. We have an 11 month old and picked Halcyon because the description in the travel guide said it was family friendly. Not only were the food and service great, but when our baby got cranky, we were invited to move to a couch to eat our food which allowed him to be able to crawl around. I'm a regular at the Halcyon. Their food is awesome and priced affordably. Their servers are extremely nice and caring. There's a wide selection of beer and wine. The bar has a premium sound system and they're always streaming great modern music. If the Cavs or Indians are playing I can always catch the game on their big screen. And on the weekends the Halcyon always has a great local band or some other type of entertainment from magicians to psychic readings and never a cover charge. All around great variety in a cozy atmosphere and excellent prices. Definitely my favorite new spot in the Harbor. read more
