We finally got tired of waiting and asked for them to just box it up. Meanwhile we watched tables who'd been seated after us receive their meal, eat and leave while we were left waiting. When we finally did get our food the serving sizes were paltry and not as described on the menu (missing key items or with things included that were not mentioned). The only reason that I am giving two stars is because the waitstaff truly felt bad and did their best to make up for our frustration. They offered to bring out some chowder on the house while we waited and sent us home with two free desserts. They did their best under the disappointing conditions happening in the kitchen. Fantastic seafood chowder. Everyone's dish was delicious - if someone left a bad review they are probably just being cheap.

Just don't go. Nothing was good. You'd expect a fish place to have good fish. Salmon still have the pin bones. Shrimp had the full shell on. Crab cakes over cooked. Ceviche was just fish and tomatoes. read more

The service was wonderful they get a 5/5 for that definitely. The food on the other hand was good but nothing special for what your paying. I first started with a bloody Mary and dark beer the bloody Mary garnishes were beautiful but the drink itself I didn't like it was missing something. I then had a cup of seafood chowder that was delicious and great flavor. For main meal I ordered seafood alfredo the scallops and prawns were fabulous but the salmon and halibut were very dry and overcooked. The food was overall average and not worth the price. This place is open whenever they want, not the hours posted on Yelp or their own website. We showed for our reservations and the place was closed, finally called because we could see staff in the restaurant, first we were told that it was impossible for us to have a reservation as they weren't open. Everywhere in Homer was booked on the 4th of July except Harbor Grill and they were able to accommodate my family of 16 people! Best fish tacos I've ever had, hands down. Really fun environment. read more

Excellent meal to taste Alaska. I started out with half a dozen local oysters that were a great start. The Halibut, salmon shrimp and scallops were perfectly cooked and delicious. My sister and I were visiting Homer and I had the best meal at the Harbor Grill. She got the king crab leg as an appetizer and was very pleased. It was cool to see how it was presented where you could pick out your own king crab leg for the size and price that you wanted. I had halibutFish and chips that were amazing moist fish light batter. I would highly recommend this place and they did a great job with short staffed. Well worth the wait of an hour and a half to get a table. Next time you're in the area don't skip this place. After an hour wait we were finally seated, we ordered drinks from the bar that were actually quite good however, these did not set the tone for the service. It took quite a while to receive the starter of salmon dip that was quite bland (having lived in alaska for 15 years I've tasted some salmon dip, unfortunately this is not the place to go for that). After 30 minutes we received our side salad and chowder, which neither stuck out to be the star of this meal. We waited my husband ordered the Alaskan bay tasting and I ordered the Seafood fettuccine. The raspberry sauce was odd on the salmon and his salmon was undercooked. The fettuccine was in desperate need for some seasoning, even simple salt and pepper would have helped it. At the end of our service and $130 bill I will not be returning it definitely was not worth the wait. read more

I took my grandkids here, as we waited to go a harbor wildlife tour. The service is excellent and very friendly. Our server knew the menu well, and was very attentive. The restaurant was very clean, a visit to the restroom I found it very clean, which tells me the kitchen is clean. I had an ordinary American breakfast, with two eggs, over easy, hash browns, bacon and toast. No complaints. The eggs were done probably, and it's hard to ruin hash browns. After being seated, it took an hour and 40 min to receive are dinner. Every 30 min the waiter would remind us "your food will be right out." After we complained he informed us that there is nothing he could do and we had asked to speak to the manager or owner. Cowardly, they did not come to our table. I've given this place two chances before leaving this review. The first I had the fried seafood platter for $34 everything was dry, taste the same, all and all was not worth the money. The second time we had the fish and chips for $18 which was not pleasant. Each piece of nugget style cut fish was either rubbery, extremely dry, I had one piece that was mildly decent. The fries were hot crispy and honestly the only thing I enjoyed on the dish. The other was the grilled chicken salad for $15 looked like maybe 1/2 a piece of grilled chicken breast if that cut into strips and was just as crunchy and dry as the croutons on the salad, it did have fresh crisp lettuce. I do have to say the oysters were good though. This place has potential to be a great restaurant if they'd learn to not over cook the proteins and find some variety in their toppings (mango salsa on everything). The inside seating is good and the outside seating was really nice especially with the view. The bathrooms were clean which was also nice. The service was decent not the best. read more

All the seafood was boild or steamed w no seasoning (not a hint of salt), a tasty sauce drizzled over over at the last minute. Could've added more and it would've helped w the over all taste ?maybe) I paid almost $100 for two appetizers, a bowl of soup and one entree, waited almost 40 minutes to get any of it and left disappointed to the extreme in the end. This was the closest alternative after discovering that the highly rated Little Mermaid was closed. I found out that the restaurant was lowly rated after being seated. There was a single waiter who seated and served everybody. He did so professionally with a great attitude. The halibut sandwich was excellent but the ceviche was bland. The seafood chowder was good...a 7 out of 10 with 10 being best. Homer has a lot to offer. I wouldn't necessarily come back unless there was nothing else around. read more

I honestly don't know where to start with this restaurant. It probably shouldn't even be called a restaurant. We waited over an hour for our food whose taste was comparable to sewage mixed with week old socks. The scallops were undercooked, the salmon was raw, and the stew was salted with the skill of a two year old monkey. Even the WATER tastes funny. I can only hope that the food will taste better in 30 minutes on the way up than it did the way down. I would give negative stars if I could. Please save yourself the money, time, and disappointment and never visit this dog-house. read more
